So a D4 isn't guaranteed anymore... it's not the end of the world. Kung Lao probably won't be #1 anymore, does that mean he won't still be good? Hell no, he'll still be near the top. And we still don't know what happened to Tanya, Tremor and Predator, but it's pretty safe to say they'll get knocked a bit too. So before you guys jump around saying he's dead, you might want to see if Tanya gets actually neutered and then maybe you'll be happy Lao only got hit this much.

he's not gonna be a super bad character, ok i know that.I'm just going to say this and i'll leave this thread alone, In no way shape or form is lao now going to be a bad character. At ABSOLUTELY WORST he went to a+ on a tier list. The character is not only good because of ex hat. You have a plethora of amazing tools to work with.
because of all this stuff which basically answers nearly everything, he will NOT be a bad character. There is no way to make him bad unless you really really want him to be shit which nrs didn't do. All this character doesn't have is a low starter. Anyways, for your lao downplayers take of this what you will.
- projectile(especially good for controlling space because you can decide where it goes)
- very good strings for stagger pressure
- Hat to make yourself safe while dealing with stagger pressure to lead to a huge combo if they try poking
- teleports to deal with bad zoning
- Dive kicks which are amazing for whiff punishment
- One of the absolute best armored moves in the game with a gigantic hitbox that can catch people at weird distances
- J.2 while nerfed is still a really really strong tool so now you have good air control especially catching people with dive kick for a full combo
- 7 frames move that leads to a full combo
- amazingly good reach for a low poke
Difficulty justifies inbalance?They're catering for what TYM cries, some of these changes feels like a direct response to what ppl has been crying. I don't really play tempest but i can understand how bad this is.

he received a damage nerf in every patch if I remember correctlyI hope ex hat isn't +7 when the patch drops. +10 on ex hat and -5 on normal hat spin. J2 nerf was over done imo but ill still rape. The dmg nerf idk...

Well this whole new update makes spacing better so its not about high pressure characters, at least not completely now.So currently MKX meta is High damage and High Pressure.Meaning most of the characters who are considered top tier is because they do both of these.Kung lao received a nerf in both these areas which hurt his game alot.They didnt just nerf the character but they made his tools set easier for people to beat.They should give us a low starter for all this

Breakers taking both players stamina for one... You can't just run up after they break and continue pressure as easily. Before beta it would just be oh you broke? Now you have no stamina while the person who you broke from has full stamina and gets to just run in again.how so
thank you this is all im saying. lao's offense is pretty straight forward he's never hitting you with any surprises. as you pointed out.. the rest of the cast are getting all these buffs and more dirt. and with the other changes that may get implemented in the game just makes it a lot worse. there is a lot of catering going on.People don't seem to get that these changes alone aren't what's going to hurt the character. Just these changes would've made him fall from the top. Now it can get much worse than that, for every other character is getting buffed, and the stamina drain after a combo breaker hurts Lao's pressure as well. I'm sure other top tiers will arise in XL.
I disagree with the change on the advantage of EX Hat Spin. The rest I'm OK with. His J2 was too easy to use, and EX Spin sucking you in on block only makes a difference when you're playing against a very bad player that you'd be able to beat with your eyes closed, anyway.
