With CEO starting today, Ed Boon is adding to the hype train by dropping a Nightwolf teaser on Twitter. Just an image, but there's definitely more to come.

I was there and was sad and disappointed with no trailer. I even brought my Nightwolf buddy charm to increase the power of the trailer but no avail

I just dropped out of DBFZ, haven't been able to play 2 months and they wanted me up against dogura right away. Last time I played Dogura it was close and took a game off him, in the rusty state im in I just felt i'd embarass myself so I took the cowards way out.

Honestly on day 1 the videos got made me super salty. About a week before the tourney I was realizing I haven't been able to practice at all(for any game), and then I still couldn't really practice cause YT work was getting hectic and I just didn't have enough time to play any FG's for myself on my own terms.

Next time I head out for a tournament I gotta figure out a better work/training balance. Too much YT makes me a worse player in a really messed up way I never even thought about.

Still great experience in the end, had a lot of fun and met a lot of cool people.

 

Yea I'm gonna agree with this. If they were smart they would drop a reveal randomly at a tournament to keep people guessing. My guess is if that does happen, it will be EVO.

They won't show anything at EVO either.

One day BEFORE EVO, however, expect Boon to tweet Sindel's armpits or something.

 

NRS apparently forgot how hype a character reveal trailer would be at an event. When there’s 40,000+ viewers on Twitch, plus the hundreds of diehard fans at the event, it makes absolutely no sense why they stopped revealing things or coming out with trailers at events. Having a characters gameplay revealed at these big events is the absolute best especially if you’re a big fan of that character. Getting hype with your buds and hearing the crowd cheer is the best way to reveal a character and their gameplay. I seriously don’t understand what NRS is thinking if I’m being honest.

Seriously, there’s not a single good reason why they wouldn’t show a new character trailer at these events where NetherRealm is streaming the MK11 finals. It’s straight up a terrible decision by whoever is on the marketing/promotional team over at NRS.

At this point, we can all just not expect any cool news at these events in the future. Did you see Dragonball fighterz at last year's EVO? Do you remember how the crowd exploded when they revealed Cooler in the end? That's the stuff I want to see.

Only reasonable excuse I could see is they have a reveal deal with someone like IGN or Gamespot. They apparently make alot of money off those

I couldn't agree with this more. Shit, I get excited for reveals in games I don't even give a fuck about because the crowd goes so nuts. Take DBFZ for example. I couldn't give two shits about that game (or DBZ for that matter), but the crowd lost their shit at EVO when Cooler was revealed.

At the Tekken world finals, NAMCO blew the roof off the place with the dual Marduk/Armor King reveal. I still get chills thinking about it. There's countless others that come to mind.

Aside from not being able to prepare a proper trailer in time, there's really no excuse. Shit...show a fucking render of Nightwolf. Even that would have popped the crowd.

 

Inb4 he has badass spirit summon/buff moves, wolf transformations, projectile reflects, etc

and the only thing in his tournament variations are:

1. bow shot and axe throw
2. choke grab, axe buff

its been a recurring thing with this game, i complain about it a lot because its blatant and inexcusable but the marketing for this game has been HORRIBLE, no question its been trash. MK11 is being mishandled worse than any other NRS game by far and its extremely noticeable especially with DLC. the reveal was later than usual and only showed text for the characters, and the firs DLC character came out 2 months after the game, they either are extremely out of touch or that report about their offices has them off their game.

To me, the icing on the cake was Spawn. A character who's been rumored to be in every NRS game since 2013. And when they finally reveal him to be in Mortal Kombat 11, they do it with a quick jpg of his name.

if we go back with INJ2 we gt cinematic trailers showing 3 characters at a time
even in MKX we got a promo showing 4 character models and the predator reveal was hype af
so for MK11 we get a picture with their name in text? its a joke

 

At least the game is amazing enough to more than make up for it. But damn, all those missed opportunities to take the hype to 11 hurt my head.

yeah, yeah .... at this point, seems clear now that :

- they will promote and revelead the characters in the same order they were showed in the Shang Tsung video; so you can expect Nightwolf now, and then, Sindel, Spawn , and the 2 guests we pretend "we don't know nothing about" (lol !) , in this order ....

- they will promote one by one, one by the time, what , in fact, is a torture for us, big fans of the franchise, but, for them, looks like "genius marketing strategy" and they think this is necessary to intend to build hype around MK11 and so, each character will have its own highlight moment when revealed ....

so prepare yourselves, fellas, that how it is, hehe

Was the game really so rushed that they are now behind schedule and are scared to even talk about dlc chars?

Eh, we'll know the frequency they'll be released once we have a date for Nightwolf. My bet is 30 days each, but 60 days each is also a possibility. We'll see.

I expect a trailer within this week.

Post of the year. They should honestly replace all descriptions of the game with this post on every wiki, game box, etc. since it does a better job summing up MK11 than anything else ever could lol.

I don't get what's the point of hiding upcoming DLC characters (and Kombat Pack content for those who paid for it before anything was announced), that's why I don't feed their tournament streamings. I'm going to watch the trailer in their channel or in any illegal re-upload, I don't care.
