Apparently I need to work on my commando big time. I'd rate it higher than my Cutthroat, but well below my cyber. I'm not good at delaying command grabs, but I feel like that's needed for how I play.

You on xbl? We can do some mirror match and work on our commandos.

My point being those combos are unviable since the risk of dropping them is too great, belong in combo videos only imo unless you have amazing execution.

If you'd stop dodgin' a motherfucker by switchin' to mo'fuckin' MLB '15 every time I sign on maybe we could get some gaaaaaaaames in >_>

edit: It only happened once but I like saw you were on and in MK and I launched MK and as soon as I got into the invite player screen you were playin' MLB. I was like "ok... this motherfucker right here!" lol.

Agreed. Not practical at all in commando unless you are an execution god.

gotta stay sharp!
Question for yall. Have yall tried ending combos with b1 or poking with b1 and going for pressure? Its +25 on hit. Maybe for commando that can open something up for yall

If you mean you think we can get a free throw, not quite, though it is very close to free; but as they come out of hit stun you can get the command grab. I do a lot of B13 walk forward, Rib Break.

Yeah definitely, and like I said; it's damn close to free, a lot of the Armor they can do to get through IS throw immune unfortunately I've found a lot of the time so It's not always worth the gamble if the opponent has meter, but you can also do D4xxEX Rib Break to get through armor.

For anybody wondering btw; I've found that D4xxEX Grab seems to be the most reliable armor break. Though B3xxChoke works really well as well, the only problem there is that if the B3 hits not armor your choke will whiff in a LOT of situations. The only guaranteed link to choke seems to be B31xxChoke but it's not very good for breaking armor. 11 is good as well; but again there are hitbox issues so you have to place his armor breaks really well in most cases since a bad read will make the cancelled into special whiff. THere's also parrying against a lot of the casts' wakeups, but again is based on the right read/godlike reactions lol.

D1 is unsafe on block, so what I've been practicing is D1-OS rib breaker-b13.

That way, if blocked, the opponent gets grabbed, and if hit you have a safe string to pressure. Then you can follow up with choke, grab, parry, cross over, another d1-os.

It takes a lot of practice to get the timing down. It's taken me a month and I've only just been able to incorporate it into my matches.

I've also been practicing traditional ticks with it as you can spam d1 into itself, force a block and throw, but at -9 that's a 20 frame reversal window if you go for a grab, 17 for an 8 frame D4. You could also check them with a D1, throw on block or b13, etc on hit, but considering how punishable it is when blocked, I'd rather use the OS.

That OS timing is hard as fuck to hit, especially in the heat of a match. I just need to sink a stupid amount of time into it where I don't even need to think about the timing. Wish there was some kind of audio or visual cue if we hit it. So hard to know if you're hitting the timing consistently.

I use the audio cue of the buttons themselves. I don't delay the press inbetween back and forward, I do a circular motion from d/f to d,db,b then slide to forward, then press 4. The sound of the d-pad and the feel of the input are what I go by. Seeing as I play online more than offline, I try to use cues that remain consistent in both environments, so sensations in my hands, sounds of the buttons, tapping down during long move animations (I'm learning Wrestler Jax. There's a long pause before connecting a jab in the corner after an EX gotcha, so tapping down on the controller during the move's animation for a certain count (I'm still figuring out the best timing for that) gives me a cue I can use online), etc, all help.

I've updated the Absolute Beginners Commando guide with several exercises to perfect the timing of an OS Rib breaker off of D1. I know you're Commando is better than mine, but you might benefit from taking a look if you're struggling with the timing.

Edit: I haven't actually made mention of using controller audio cues as a way of learning them. I was going to save it for the combo section, but I may well update it now that I think about it.

We have no idea if my Commando is better. My execution is shit and pisses me off all the time hahaha, but I'll keep it up, try what you're talkin' 'bout.

My execution is pretty bad too, hence picking up Jax as a way of forcing myself to get better.

Actually now I think about it, I might have been practicing the OS's for closer to two months.

I'm gonna post a video on this. So strong anti wake up, because it beats delayed WU as well
