Captain Cold Matches (Post August 2017 Patch)

The Captain Cold community seems less confident after the August patch. I wanted to make this thread in hopes to spread some positivity by sharing and encouraging other Captain Cold mains to share their gameplay. This would give us an insight on how to play our toughest or fairest match ups when we are successful.

I'll update the thread later on to make it more presentable. And then I'll periodically update it so its much easier to navigate in the future, assuming people post alot of videos.

I want this to be a thread where if someone wanted some insight on how to beat Fate, Superman, etc. they'll be able to scroll to that section, watch, gain some insight, and hopefully be more victorious in their future matches.

For me, it's less about the wall and more about the lack of buffs. Trait really needed to be addressed. OH puddle didn't happen. So much of what was a problem is still a problem, and the reasoning provided is most disheartening.

NRS wants him to remain a character that does well against a few set matchups, but is not actually balanced towards most of the cast. The reasoning is that being such a "rushdown killer" AND having good tools for other MUs would break him. It's ridiculous...

I think he should have the opportunity to charge trait to lvl 2 in every game against every character at least once without taking 30% chip. However that can be done, I don't care. It's not like we were hoping for broken buffs. When other mains start feeling sorry for us, you know there's a problem.

Ah it's post patch videos...well I'll have to record some this weekend i guess. Hope you all enjoy watching me get exterminated by broken tier half the cast :p

Ok, I guess I have some content as requested from the post patch combo thread. It feels slightly redundant, less like tech and more like "this is how you make reads in neutral," but hey, why not. Have to start somewhere.

I'll try to make something this weekend demonstrating b232 jailing after a restand with bf1 and maybe something about options with your plus frames after 122.

Mine MUs maybe are a bit of casual, because those vids I'm about to upload is quite high level. You'll know in the upcoming video. In these videos I was a bit tired cuz I had to take care of some jobs before. ;)

Those MUs are against Flash and Cheetah. At the Cheetah match I accidentaly triggered the interactable combo right at the left side. You'll see what do I mean.

Ummm..Well, you guys are good players, and I don't mean any disrespect but...in the first match at the end he had 4 bars and you had 2, if he would have just trait mbed all his df1s he would have won and there was nothing you could do about it, instead he chose to let himself outzoned by cold which is not a fact. Also instead of zoning you he chose to rushdown you for some reason so there is much to be learned in my opinion.

I play the most horrific soulless fate in existence, that would walkback meta to win by timeout at 190 second mark if possible, and the matchup is just horrendous. The only time Cold gets to breathe is if you have lvl 3 charged, only then you can outzone a true fate spamm..i mean zoner.

I will try to get some matches with him and post them here next week.

The key against Dr. Fate is to keep moving forward, obviously while blocking the projectiles. At a certain distance his projectiles go right over your head because they have an arch, so when you're under the arch it'll actually whiff unless they MB it. Once you're in range where the projectile misses, he's forced to commit or blow his meter. He'll either do his unsafe low overhead string to close the distance, his f3, or go for his mid-glyph which is -11. This is what we want. Watch how I play this Dr. Fate.
