You could always tech non-MB bf3.

Really going to miss non clashable pain chain, but I can't say it wasn't a good decision.

like i said, grundy can force them to clash now so them making it clashable is a good thing imo

how exactly is fishing for a clash, which prevents damage & resets positioning far from grundy and gives the opponent life, a good thing?

Oh how fun that will be, especially against buffed Sinestro.

I just don't understand how this nerf was complained about more than the b1 reset. Will we get to keep the reset or will that get fixed later?

i say its a good thing if you are decent at getting in and you have a good enough life lead or arent too far from the opponent's

i'd say baiting clashes with scapegoat combos with decent damage, or simply opting to not use the pain chain after round 1(or 2) until the opponent clashes, grundy has plenty of damaging setups for you to use and bait some clashes

forming an initial gameplan early on would probably help out too

of course if it does indeed hurt grundy more than help him, I will peacefully admit I was wrong and kudos to any doubters.

either way, we gotta deal with it now.

Most people clashed me after the MB SW.... so nothing in my gaem has really changed.
When I think they want to clash, i'd opt for a mixup, gain some more damage (usually the mixup was f3... so they can't clash f3 into b3/MB SH).

I suppose people will be able to clash later.. but i mean... the only thing that changed is that after the reset you can't get that damage for free. Which is the way it should be.

Edit: the problem is that there is no reward for Grundy to tie/win a clash. I may never bet more than a bar because I know with 2 I can take all your life (usually you build a bar back during the combo). If they at least kept you NEAR the corner on a clash that you tie... it'd be cooler.

One last thing.

If we wouldn't have found the reset.... this wouldn't be an issue. That I can promise you.
Sometimes finding tech too early is a bad bad thing :(

My god, how long does it take to upload a Grundy guide onto youtube? It's uploading, and as soon as I edit this post it'll be right here, hope people enjoy.

My biggest qualm about the Grundy nerf is that d1 d1 trait isn't as ridiculously awesome in the corner for closing out the match anymore.
 
I don't think this nerf to Grundy isn't really so bad. Most of the time people tend to clash when you're on your first bar health, and they already have less than 50% life left. Grundy has always had to deal with clash, but that hasn't stopped him since he does more damage than what a full clash gives back in health. I think this nerf in the long run will only train Grundy users to manage their meter a little better instead of wasting it on combos that you know your opponent will wager, and on brain dead MB SH full screen.

Also, I still think it's crazy that we already have changes to the cast so early in the game. They should have changed the broken stuff like Cyborg's air fireballs and the random interactive glitches, but all this other stuff is incredibly ridiculous. Let the game live for at least 6 months before changing things, and to top it all off they introduce changes before EVO so the Vanilla version really only saw two or three majors.

Ah. Didn't know how to do a table of contents, then got distracted with Batgirl. God, she's fun, but she doesn't look like a Superman counter, so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep labbing her. Regardless, here's the guide. Tell me if anything's messed up, big videos usually get silly to keep track of, and enjoy!

I can guarantee you that we will see the same characters in top 8. Superman's nerfs were not even that harsh. If you just take out f2d1 from his combos and replace them with other strings his overall damage output changed by only 5 or 6 percent. Superman still has his top tier zoning, and his 2 frame super. Black Adam of course didn't receive any changes so he still is going to be a threat.

It is a nerf. Because they can keep us from getting the trait we want at the time, and the damage is not just sitting there free.

However, Grundy players should simply stay the course. Always have at least a bar ready.

I'm not too worried honestly.

Oh, and it's less of a deal now that nerf, but there was one setup in my video/I use it all the time, MB Walking Corpse, swamp gas, jump raw trait, catches jumps and downback. I don't see it much, but it negates the 50/50 low/high game entirely, only downside is less damage, still good though.

And even if Superman's damage scales more, I don't see them using any confirms other than f23 for a while. I play him a bit, and that frame advantage is truly infallible.

Greetings Grundy players, i just out of curiousity.. is this true?

How the hell does Grundy ever get in on anyone? Everyone else can just sit at the other end of the map and zone him out? I don't want to just mash swamp hands all day to try and MB it. But that is literally the only thing he can do. Footsies are useless with the rampant zoning in this game and half his moves are way too slow (b1, b2, f1).

Honestly patience is the key to getting in. If they are going to be zoning a lot your first pain chain should be the defense chain and keep that up all game. Stay patient then, sit back and block as you are going to take hardly any chip damage. Wait until they either get impatient and come to you or they make a mistake and you punish. WCC is your friend as well. WCC through a zone attempt and sit there and block. They'll eventually push themselves into the corner. The trick then is to not let them out.
 
Yea once you're in range of a WC they have to be careful with their zoning, I walked right through deathstrokes assault rifle and gave him the ol one two. Depending on the character I keep em honest from full screen with the swamp hands as well.

You can also play footsies with his f13 string, its really good and leads into a command grab on hit or block.

I honestly think grundy's one of the best designed grapplers in recent memory, only one I can think of that was more effective was potemkin.

jabs and down1, f13, he's got range on his buttons. A whiffed jumpin, a whiffed normal, Grundy's got it. You can also open them up on defense/pressure after blocking their stuff. Or just MB trait through their stuff, that always gets people salty.

Or if you get close and they're blocking, 113 and d1 are good on frames, they're decent for pressure.


And yeah, patience, what they said. You have options everywhere.

standing 2 is a better option then f13 in footsies imo. It's pretty quick, long range and can combo into WC which you can cancel or let it fly.
