Captain Cold Speculation Thread

I really hope Sub-Zero is AntiRush down IF he makes it in, he needs Defensive tools not a fan of Cryo. Ice Swords are fine but give him a Shield or the Clone with them. Give Shao Kahn the Hammer back though...

If he is Cryo 2.0 and Pure Rushdown I'll just stick with CC for I2.

Best throw in the game free. That alone makes me want to play this character. Taking Darkseid and Cold to the lab as soon as the game comes out.

Yeah, I have no idea how they're going to make Sub-Zero Unique in this given CC is a hybrid of Unbreakable, Grandmaster, Gunslinger and then some. We keep assuming he'll be DLC they may just have Scorpion back and no Sub-Zero. CC is going to be really tough act for SZ to follow IF he makes it in.

Don't remember the 'Ice Block' freezing on touch meter burn so the Clone may make it in and act like a 'block/keep out' tool without meter burn and freeze with meter. I also think Ice Weapons may be the trait rather than the clone but hey who knows at this point. All I know is CC as a DC character looks hella fun.
Well, Subbie still has plenty of things that Cold doesn't touch (weapons for neutral game, slide, klone, bursts, parry...) but I'm intrigued about if he will get a meterless iceball freeze which apparently would make him an outlayer in this game.

*There was a string/button used that was an upward angled 2 hitting punch attack that could be his b2 , 3 string however that was showed after the inputs were turned off. That string hit H, H

This is all subject to change with the final build of the game of course. Info was obtained from watchtower stream watching the inputs before they were turned off. I thought it would be useful for the potential cold mains in some way.

This character is on the top of the list for characters I MIGHT main, he looks like he's gonna be a zone/counter zone kinda guy with possible set ups. Could be gear who knows.

Plus I really love Captain cold from the flash show

The Longbow Hunter.
I have been waiting on him since IGAU. Captain Cold, Swamp Thing (hate his floaty jump) and Scare Crow are the new character I'm going to lab hard so far. But I must also test Sups, bats, Adam, Flash, Aqua, Green Arrow and Lantern. Bye bye social life.
 
He looks like everything I wanted from Captain Cold, and more. The general playstyle fits his personality IMO, and like he fits my playstyle. So much so that i'd probably still use him even if i wasn't a big fan of the character, which works out pretty well for me.

Okay fellow Rogues, let's speculate...

What do you think his upclose game is going to be like? The Watchtower stream made it look like full screen is his gameplan with the iceblocks and ice wall. But, I couldn't help but notice 1 projectile breaks the iceblock (which costs a bar of meter to make too) so what's his strategy against characters with fast multi-hitting projectiles like Deadshot, or Fate? Or even characters with teleports (Robin, Scarecrow, Darkseid) who would ignore both the icewall and iceblock completely?

Hopefully, he does have some good tools & strings that will help him with characters who will always be in his face. I do like that his D1 looks like it is a true low. It's unfortunate footage of this character in action is so very limited at the moment.

Also, I really hope he can wear his hood.

For me, Capn Cold has everything that Sub Zero lacks. Nobody did a Starting video and such w/ him, so I'll have to do this when the game is out.

On the ice block, I kinda agree. I mean how much gun charge can you do if they just instabreak the block lol. For character's with no projectile it'll probably be godlike for trait, but someone like Deadshot would probably punish you for it. Seems like a MU dependent tool at best, useless in some MUs. Ice wall I think will be pretty good though, both versions.

Yea D1 is a low. Seems like neutral range might be the biggest weakness overall. As long as the toolset itself is strong enough he'll be able to overcome though.

For sure, hook me up man. It will be either Cold or Arrow again for me, but I'm hoping I like the way the Captain plays. Need to test his movement, wake ups, air-to-air ability, anti-airs, meterless combo potential and whatnot before I can commit to him though.

The problem I see there is that charge the weapon does, just like how many drinks Bo 'Rai Cho does in his Drunken Master variation. I'll have to experiment into him to find out. I might find good combos there.

I think the best way to charge weapon will be the keep away strings or normals. Using meter to charge is useless, just because you just gain a semi-guaranteed combo if level 2/3 is activated, and you can perform a combo with this bar and finish it in a string to charge the weapon. And the Wall is too risky against a multuhit char o teleport one...

Unfortunately, (but good for balance reasons I'm sure) projectiles do break the ice cube. At least in the build they were playing on stream. So like Saltshaker said, it will be useful in some MU's but against projectile zoners, probably not so much.

Hmmm... Interesting. Something final, since I didn't get the beta code so I don't know. Does CC have a similar Ice Klone weapon to keep them in the corner?
