No one really started thinking Kabal was a problem until after all the patches, so all that he got nerfed was his block infinites.

Which is kinda funny because that ninja turtle won like 3-5 tournaments with Kabal even when people were still complaining about 2,4 low hat.

He should not be banned, and here is my reasoning:

1. Kabal
2. It's early in the game and even the pros have scrubby tendencies. Let it develop and us with it, like we did with MK9
3. If something is obviously broken it will be patched, but nothing is obviously broken yet.

I just have to rant on my first reason for a bit. Seriously, nearly ALL of us came from a game where all we saw was Kabal, Kung Lao, Cyrax, or Kenshi. We didn't let any of that bother us even though most of those characters were obviously broken, which Scorpion in IGAU is not (yet). Why are you guys all complaining so early? Either he's going to bring out the best in us, or he's going to get nerfed and we can have the easy way out. He's been out for like a month and you guys just don't know how to beat him yet. Banning him in tournament play makes no sense at this point.

Another thing is, that video you posted of an "online" Scorpion playing against good players? I have a few contentions against you using that as an example:

1. It wasn't a scrubby Scorpion, a good player was using him
2. It was ONLINE and Scorpions are one of the characters who are able to get away with cheap stuff online. What would have happened if we banned Reptile, Mileena, or Raiden from MK9 just because they could get away with more online? You guys just need to wait to learn the matchup. This takes time even for the best players.

The Kabal argument is one that supports the banning of Scorpion if anything, imagine the character diversity of MK9 if Kabal, Kenshi and Kung Lao were all banned. Then LOOK at what the character diversity in MK9 was when we as a community left the tournament rules on characters untouched

It does not support it, it negates it, and here's why:

Nobody complained after a while when everyone knew Kabal was OP. Look how far MK9 took certain players, and look at the character diversity in top 8 in majors are now. It's not just Kabal, Cyrax, Kenshi, Sonya, Lao. There's Smoke, Shang, Jax, Kang, and god damn, even a Kano recently (should Kano be banned because he made top 8 because people didn't know the matchup?) The point is, we do have character diversity now despite having characters that are obviously broken. Scorpion in IGAU is not obviously broken, people just need to learn their matchups and be patient. I know it's easy to create these threads out of anger because you keep losing, but just be patient.

I have mixed feelings on the subject. I think that we need to see how things play out at a few majors. The game is still so young. I value top players opinions in this thread but thtb makes a good point.

I will not dispute the fact that he is extremely hard to fight. No matter what decisions are made you will never be able to make everyone happy.

Remember when sf4 came out and everyone said to ban gouken? How many top 8s has that character had?

Educated and logical arguments can be made both ways.

Everyone knew how ridiculous Kabal and Cyrax was from the start, but no one really knew how good characters like Kenshi, Smoke, Kitana and Skarlet were till later.

Give the game a chance to breath and grow...fine, ban Scorpion today and what happens next month when people start realising some other characters in this game are much better than they are.

To be honest there is only 3 or 4 Kabals worth talking about in the MK scene. A lot of players had pocket Kabals, thinking it was instant win and they failed miserably.

Point is, everybody knows how stupid Scorpion is now.
Anyways, like I've said plenty of times already, the whole point of banning Scorpion now would be precisely to allow to game to breathe.
