Heroic_Legacy - Man you played great! Couldn't believe Pig erupted in the way he did. Regarding the cross up of the AT, do I record myself hitting a MB one again and again but with varying timing between each one, then try to block them?

Yepyep. Pretty easy to see when it crosses up or not after about 5 to 10 minutes. I tried vs pig but I failed pretty hard tbh. Shouldnt get hit by b213 randomly like that to end a round. Oh well.

They aren't on Youtube but I wanted to post my games on stream from WNF last night. I'm trying to rep Shazam 100%

Me vs Eddie C. (Doomsday)

Me vs Aris (Deathstroke)

Me vs Rip (Superman)

Me vs FR Legend (Sinestro)
www.twitch.tv/leveluplive/b/410094703?t=4h35m35s

blow me up or what not

I watched your Aris and Rip, and i think the FR Legend(was tired, so not sure on this one yet) live last night. I was pulling for you in all the matches i watched! I'll watch them all today if possible, and i had one little critique, but please don't take it the wrong way.

Against everyone but Aris(that dude was on point punishing you), after blocked b,f2's, you many times went for d1, and many times it whiffed, while they either jumped, or backdashed away. I find that d3 instead of d1 will give you a better chance of keeping on the pressure, as it has great range, and pretty damn good AA properties. That's all i can think of now, other than i really enjoyed watching your matches!!!! way to rep Billy!

Magics what I'm all about !
Such bull Wonder Chef, I think chip does to much in this game, and thats how you lost most of them :( amazing job tho. Funny I do the double jump combo that you also do haha.

Welcome to the Chaos Dimension
I don't know if this has been discussed before but how come Shazam's trait doesn't effect his super like all the other power up traits. I understand it only effects his fist and he clearly is punching them in his super i just think its stupid it doesn't add damage

I got no time for whining!!!

You bring up a good point I was wondering the same thing. Even the first intial hit doesn't do trait damage.

I've mastered it! This is an awesome mixup especially towards the end of a game when you have a few bars to use to see off the game.

Yeah easily the best reasons to use the torpedo mixup on knockdown are to close out a round with unclashable damage and to corner yourself for an interactable reset IE Solitude's Ship or Themyscira's Tree.

Good Game :)
Can someone PLEASE tell me what to do on the Shazam v.s. Green Lantern matchup??? I can't seem to get in and of course, I get bad trades from range. And when I do manage to get in GL's mixups seem to dominate shazam.

Super hard matchup. GL luckily is not a master of being in the space he wants to be. Make him commit to ground bullet or air bullet and then get closer by ducking and weaving through. When in close be ready to punish lift, be ready to backdash after blocking b1 and punish him. Lift is super scary on wakeup. Of course, this is without a GL being smart.

A smart GL is probably going to sit there and gatling gun bulldog you of all your space and you lose the matchup. That's how it probably should be played since it limits Shazam's options down to almost none.

Ok, I assume you know what you're talking about, or so it seems like it. Can you break it down a little more and actually name the strings/special moves I should be using to punish or simply "pressure" GL.

what do you use to punish GL after backdashing his b13. I couldnt find anything. He jut recovers way to fast for the speed and range of shazam's normals.

Yeah bad wording on my part, you get stuff if you backdash into the corner but midscreen you get space and frame advantage to start an offense. Which, in itself starting an offense on GL is practically a punish for how hard it is to work.

If you backdash b13 he's left at a severe disadvantage midscreen, if he jumps lifts or tries to b1 again your b2 will stuff all those options and you can get a combo. If he blocks that you can just try to block confirm into teleport or something ridiculous.

Hey guys, got a problem playing against Shazam and I'd like some helpful tips if anybody has any...
the problems are such that to describe it via typing would take a long time, so instead I decided to make a video.

thanx for any help

If you think he's going to teleport backwards on wakeup you can just jump forward with 1 or 3 and try and catch him and reapply pressure. It's a really really superb wakeup attack now that it's buffed and that's the #1 reason I think we beat Doomsday now. He just can't keep the pressure up on knockdown anymore. :<

What if you pre-empt it and do that sky drop. Does shazam have time to mb b3 or dash forward to avoid it? Its not unfair cos u can dash forward and continue to apply pressure,

Dashing forward and applying pressure isn't what he wants, he wants to punish a wakeup attempt or a backdash attempt. I understand where he's coming from in that this is a little ridiculous on wakeup.

If you saw the portion of the video posted where I demonstrated how difficult it was to punish Shazam's teleport in the corner with a simple 123, you can imagine that when I say YES, it is possible to punish his teleport with a MB supernova, that it is extremely unreliable.. the timing is excessively precise!

Shazam can back dash to safety virtually everytime.

Fair?

A) It's completely invincible on start-up
B) it leaves behind a fantom hitbox that STOPS preemptive horizontally moving specials/dashes if they are immediate.
C) it's excessively difficult to punish...

I can understand a character having an invincible teleport on wakeup to get out of pressure but this just seems silly.
*Risk/Reard*

In other news, Bane hurts bad :( Actually a tough matchup despite me feeling Shazam wins it. Can't let Bane get a single drop of momentum or I'm toast.

@HungryforPasta You do realise that the CPU does wakeup-attacks faster then a normal human opponent can, so that wake up teleport is not accurate. In anycase the only thing that I found out that you can punish a teleport with without meter is to dash forward after your knockdown and ji3. Play around with it in training mode. Best to do it with a human opponent.

HungryforPasta

CPUs do wakeup-attacks faster then people do
I have no idea what this statement is supposed to mean exaclty!
are you saying that reversals have different start up if the computer is doing it than if a person is doing it?

If so, that is horrible!

Or are you saying that a computer can more consistently do a reversal than a person?
if so then... ya I hope so.

The training mode dummy IS set to do a wake up reversal; I damn well hope that it will reversal everytime.
But that's so far out the way from what's relevant that I don't see why you brought that up...

you saying that just because it's "difficult" to do a wake up reversal (which is your opinion) that it warrants the telephotos characteristics?

plz think through what you're trying to say
I'm sure you didn't mean this and were meaning to say something else.

The CPU can do wakeup attacks before an actual player can yes. There are some setups that work against another person's wakeup but not against a cpu's wakeup. Either way it doesn't change the fact that Doomsday still has problems punishing the teleport, and I really have no answer as to how to do it. It's why I think Shazam beats Doomsday pretty hard now with his teleport buff. We don't care about your knockdown game anymore.

What I can suggest is just let them teleport and hold your ground, don't let them get past you and out of the corner. And when they're in the corner, baiting a forward teleport and punishing is FAR easier than doing the same to a backwards teleport.
