I think the Hawkgirl community means really well - they definitely try to have each others backs - but they just firmly believe they've got a solid character here and for whatever reason you managed to get them a bit defensive. I understand your frustration, I think anybody who's been contributing here for awhile would say they've posted stuff that they thought got a reception it didn't deserve, but if the stuff you're posting is thought out and meant to contribute something positive there'll be people here who will appreciate it.
Make the thread, I think it'll go better than you think and it might start some good discussion.
Thank you 4x4, but the negativity is in every post on the entire site. I've shared and gave you all my thoughts. I also just think I'm done with the HG debate for now. If someone creates the thread and I happen to see it... I might take a glance and contribute. Feel free to use my initial suggestions. Thanks again 4x4... the positive reply is really appreciated.

Yeah, I know what you mean. There have been things I've refrained from posting in the past just because I know that I won't like the response I get even if I know I posting good content that some people will benefit from. I've got to try to contribute as much as I can though. I love this game and my local scene and the wider community, so I through in what I can and try to ignore the bullshit. No other way to make the community better.

I just thought you posting the thread would be a good idea since you seem interested enough to be posting about the issue here repeatedly. Keep in mind that if you do make a new thread(or someone else does) it'll drawn in a different batch of people than the one's you're talking to here. Not many people click on the character discussion thread for a character they don't play so in here you're just getting all the rabid Hawkgirl devotees(no offense to the rabid Hawkgirl mains ;)) while a thread with 'buffs' in the title will draw a very different crowd.

I 100% agree m2dave with what she needs. I'll think about the thread. Honestly this site's negativity is really starting to make me want to stop posting. Every thread you read has negativity and it's hard to learn and grow with all of it. It's not very open minded here.
Few people get as much negativity as I do, but I could not careless what others say or write about me. I still believe Deathstroke is overrated and Hawkgirl needs buffs.

I can make a buff thread soon. I like your ideas from a mix up point of view.

She's not gonna have a "fighting chance" vs lex and sinestro unless you give her a full screen two hit low/auto throw. Something like MC but low.

Or give MC MB armor.

Or give her an air dash (and have her end up broken)

I do think the B2 series and the 1 series have t-Rex arms. But I'm telling you right now. If these moves get range like her d2, you are gonna open pandoras box and make her wicked. Shell have a safe iadivekick that can't be punished, a lightning fast d1 to keep people from replying (and you can get a decent combo off it), WE3 is + on block so the B2 would damn near be free except against the more impossible of reversals/wake ups, and you can almost make it safe by canceling it into a WE3.

I'd rather they make her B3 faster. There's no reason to not make 123, b3 or mt mbu, b3 easier.
Make mt rotate vertically instead of horizontally, thus taking up more space.
Have 3 not knock down, and have it suck in for combos into WE2 and MT MB.
WE2 a little more range.

I'm just going to copy and paste what I just wrote to you for now. I'll edit and contribute as time goes. I honestly think there should be a couple of guranteed setups for DS trait that require work, but will work on all characters. Or make trait start faster. I'm on your side Dave.

1. b2 actually already has further range than 3, it's just super slow. We just want it to consistently hit all characters when ducking not just some.
2. If ground MT hit mid it would solve this problem. It would also add chip.

you know what? im not much on written evaluation on a character when it comes to fighting games. I like settling things with things the ole fashion way; 1v1, head to head, mano a mano. Dash why don't you challenge some the better HG players on this forum to an actual set of matches ie Boodendorf RunwayMafia. Maybe after a few good sets maybe both sides can come to an agreement......or just go on disagreement. Either way a field test among best should settle this mess.

Ok i have a question.

Do flight cancels increase damage scaling in combos? i ask this because of the following combo (i will break it down so you can see the percentages of each move)

b23 does 12% (combo starter)

d1 does 2%

b1 does 5%

b23, d1 does 14%

b23, b1 does 17%

so if i add the super on the end surely the b1 combo does more damage right?

b23, d1 super does 42%

b23, b1 fly, unfly super does 41%

in case you are wondering you have to fly unfly after the b1 otherwise it wont connect

I'm curious as to how much people of played with Jump and Air normals. Whenever I watch vids I don't see them used much, and I'm wondering especially given that they can be cancelled into air specials or dive kick.

Her air normals are kinda assy :(

And if you think they'll jump, just d2 lol. The only time I do it is if I really think they're gonna try to jump for an interactable within range, in which case I'll flight or interactable whiff cancel them... and likely lose the scenario anyways because of their aforementioned shittyness.

Just found tech that's gonna make the lex and sinestro matchups MUCH MORE bearable and make some even matchups definitely in her favor. I won't talk about it right now since I'm still experimenting with the tech.
Also I wanna be selfish for once :p.

Hawkgirl is a REAL pressure monster now.

Posted it elsewhere but something that is potentially interesting instant J1~D3. It doesn't lead to any combo's but it is otherwise a safe rapid hitting double overhead with a 5-6frame start-up..


The important part is that J1 can hit on the way up with the correct timing (the instant after you jump), and as it is a 5 frame move it is the easiest in the game to do this with (anything up to about 9-10 frames can hit on the way up, though most lack a valid cancel once they are in the air).

I was trying that out to see if there were any other options for the J1 ( I was hoping for a combo), but I found that the 2 would sometimes wiff depending on the char size and your exact position, maybe it is more reliable if done in the corner?

Hawkgirl mains, im very ignorant about the character and i want your brief input.
I rarely play against a Hawkgirl (and when i do, theyre only half-competent), so i ask:

What do you think her problems are?
Why is she placed so low on tier lists (because imo shes better than advertised)?

Weaknesses
1. Floaty Jump
2. Terrible cross up
3. short reaching normals
4. Trait completely useless in some match ups
5. Very hard to get big damage combos unless in the corner
6. mace toss is far too slow to use as a good zoning tool

other people might have more too add or disagree with some

I feel the main reason she is low on the tier list is because she is underused so people don't fully know what she is capable of yet. However i don't think she will get above middle tier.

How many hits did you guys manage to get in a combo? That's for the TYM max hit combo challenge.
I managed to get 29 hits using stage interaction and transition on fortress of solitude.

Edit: Got 30 hits, forgot to add a jump in attack.

So they finally fixed mace charge frame data. Decided to nerf it while they were at it. That -42 :(

Opposing character jumps much sooner on block now, so it seems like the number is now correct.
