PND Ketchups Lobo buff suggestions: Reasonable

So far, all you can Get B1 into grab fron a low shot is either on its own, or from a standing 1. I haven't found any other ways to get it, the opponent is pushed too far back, it has to literally be right in their face or grab = Nobo.
I can't do grab from b1 consistently to save my life.

I've been doing (upclose)
low shot --> d1 --> grab --> b3, j2, 21 bf3)
much easier to confirm grab from d1 and damage is the same I think

I haven't been able to get it off a d1 consistently either. You have any advice for how to time the inputs to pull it off? Or you just mash it as fast as possible?

I find the timing for d1 much more lenient than doing it after b12.
I have the release check turned off, and d1, bf2 connects into grab, no mashing is required.

I know for sure it launches opponent close enough to follow up after blocked 21.

The input becomes as easy as everything else eventually, I don't want this to sound like I'm just bigging myself up or anything. But it's always been that way haha.

Just remember , as the B1 animation is coming out, you buffer D,B. So as the move lands you press F and 2 at the exact same time, keeping a mental note of that method isn't so bad.

You can combo 21~trait low shot and 2~ low shot into b1~toss. Or did I not understand something? =p
Can you? I could never get it to connect.

Let me jump on real quick and try again.

EDIT: Yeah that was my bad, I didn't think to let the opponent sink a little bit before going for the B1. It's connecting fully as a combo as follows.

2,1,LowNshot,B1,MBgrab,B3,jump medium, 2,1,charge - 42%

2,LowNshot,B1,MBgrab,B3,jump medium, 2,1,charge - 37%

To anyone that made the same mistakes I did, you have to let the opponent fall first, then catch them with your B1 right before they hit the ground. Thanks for that Chaosphere.

This is the string I was referring to earlier; I think they should hasten the recovery on the low shot so that this combo can incorporate something more significant than b1 to lead into the toss to improve the 50/50s and make them a little more practical to execute. But it sounds like there are a decent amount of people that can pull it off, so I guess it's mostly just me >.>

Just practice bro :)

EDIT: It's undeniably a tricky thing to pull off consistently, but like anything else, it just gets easier as you do it, it's still pretty hard though haha.

I think the issue might be him doing it on stick. On stick its virtually impossible to do consistently. On pad I can get it almost every time. The issue is the buffer window is just too small considering that sticks have to physically travel and you can't slide your finger. It's the same reason that Vangief can do standing 720s reliably on pad and even Desk drops them on stick.

I use the D-pad on a 360 controller, so no stick concerns. Guess I just need to mess with it more or something.

On issue I always have with pulling it off is it seems when you input b1 and then hit down back with no additional input, it automatically does the air grab as if I entered db1. I noticed this in MK9 a bit and even more in injustice, but that tends to be why I fail at pulling off b1dbf2- it tends to interpret it as b1db1 from the first few inputs. Anyone else notice this; is it just my timing?

(Sorry for highjacking a buff discussion for input advice!)

Don't be silly dude, feel free to discuss anything Lobo in this thread!

I get that sometimes too, it's usually because i'm not doing the normal first, you're likely trying to go into B1 into the buffer and the game thinks you want to do DB1. Make sure you press B1 before anything else, otherwise the game will get confused.

I'll have to mess with it a bit more when I get home.

Back to the topic at hand! I think overall, the thing Lobo lacks, preventing him from being really competitive, is some way to deal with getting through zoners. What do we think- is fixing the MB charge so that it has armor the entire time enough?

I don't think it needs super armor, it just needs to come out earlier.

The same way Strykers armor being fixed was a huge help to his gameplay, but didn't make him OP at all.

It sounds like it could be an issue with release check. Do you have it turned off? If so, then idunnowtf =(

Is that an in-game option? Because that might be my problem, but idk what you're talking about lol.
Yes. From the main menu you can go to options and it will be in the controller option. Or if you're in practice, you can press start and then go to the controller option. The release check will be at the bottom. Switch it off.

Tried some more with release check turned off, but I still can't pull if off with any kinda of consistency (not nearly enough to attempt during a match at least). Guess it's just me. I'll stick with lower damage alternatives I suppose v_v

timing for b1 into grab should be like Shazams b2 -> Herculean Might... still kinda strict, but very doable...

NightwingDayZero

Truth, justice and the American way.
I support buffs for Lobo.

I specialize in playing Nightwing, but Shazam got some sweet buffs this last patch and has made an enjoyable character to play and explore when I feel like screwing around online. Lobo is obviously hurting in his matchups, he needs something, I trust you Lobo players know what that something is. I'd like to get my money worth on this DLC.

Best of luck in getting yourselves a tournament viable character. I look forward to seeing more variety in pools and dare I say top 32?

I think armor on start up for BF3 would be solid and then MB for armor on the shoulder check. I honestly don't think it'd be OP to have him load 2 nuke shells (so combos like F213 can actually benefit from it) and I'd be a fan of possibly letting the nuclear pump shot go full screen or 3/4th of the screen but do like 1/4th or less of the original damage.

You'd never be able to fight a zoner with 3/4 or even full screen nuke shots but at least you could duck a shot, fire off a counter to stumble them and then dash. Anyone think that's reasonable or am I being bias in my hopes for the main man?

Sup ketchup. It's a relief to hear from another Lobo player coming from MK Sektor maining.

Regarding the trait discussions going on around here: Thinking about this, I'm settled on what I would be fine with. Have his trait load time frames be less than the 1.03 patch (it is still too slow, but it should not be improved by too much more, either). The biggest thing is have his trait automatically load 2 shells with no stacking. Also, you cannot use the "Hot" shot twice in one combo. If you exhaust one shell but still have one in the chamber, AND you activate the trait, it will only give you 1 more Hot shot instead of 3.

I too main and play only with Lobo. I agree with Ketchup tweaks for Lobo. (I don't necessarily consider his requests buffs)

That said, I have a question of my own from my experiences. When Lobo is being okied to death - I feel he has no viable wake ups!

I try bf3, but they're hits stop the move from coming out
I tried mb b3 - same results as above
I tried db3 (low chain) same results as above.

So am I wrong in thinking he should receive armor on wake up buff?
Or Ketchup please tell me what am I doing wrong here?

His wake up are lacking a bit. If you are getting pressured really bad, go with df1. That's what I do and it is fast enough to back people off most of the time. If they start to respect it or are further back, db3 and bf3 are good to catch them, get pressure going, and keep them guessing. He needs the armor extension on MB bf3 to have a solid wakeup though. Right now he's lacking.
