Injustice Zoning

Anyone who cries "cheap" in a fighting game in my book is bad.

We can argue this back in forth, you clearly care about things others dont. I see no reason to argue the case against this "casual" audience.

I'm just gonna say this; The game is a week old, if you're unwilling to learn a new game you shouldn't pick up a new game.

Dont nerf things, adapt.

And finally if a tactic is in a game it's free game, use it and abuse it. Play to win.

You said "if I beat somebody with Flash", then I replied Pl can beat anybody with anyone it doesn prove that people will complain about all the chars.

Yes, but the question is why I have to do so much effort?

how do you know? But I will no lie, I prefer rushdown chars over zoners, that is true.
If people can't beat something they'll say it's cheap. That's just common knowledge by now. Since the argument is based on why casuals should have some kind of opinion, PL doesn't fit here.

Because that's part of the game. Why do I have to use meter to get you out without risking eating a full combo? Clearly unfair right since you can make a few reads and get in with no worse than chip damage. Obv broken mechanic.

Because zoning is hated by casuals.

Everything the OP said is gold. Add to the fact the Zoner can usually (stage dependent) use interactables to move himself out of the corner and start zoning again, you will possibly have people fundamentally worse than you beating you if you aren't the Zoner.

Why does everyone in GGA complain about zoning? Are you guys supposed to be high level players or a bunch of whiners?

Also, this thread is horrible. Zoning is not strong in this game. The vast majority of fireballs have atrocious recoveries.

I agree with you in all and for the most part you are correct, but as I had addressed about the DS issue, is that honestly if that one character alone is giving everyone issues then there may be something needs further investigation. I fear no zoner honestly, and thus far DS is the only zoner that seems to be my problem as well as others. I am no pro player, but I can still somewhat hang with with big dawgs.
Thing is, this one character isn't giving everyone a problem, just a few, and those few still have options but they choose not to explore them.

For some reason people are on this kick that FGs need to be easy, and that annoying is bad and broken...that is not the case. Annoying is just that, annoying, and if someone incorporates annoying into their play style, that is them. It's actually a viable strategy as by annoying your opponent, you goat them into making a mistake which you can capitalize on; but everyone has their patterns and habits, and it because of that fact that the smarter player can/will win.

Case in point, someone said that Grundy vs DS is horrible because a full screen DS owns (or something like that). At full screen though, DS's chip damage isn't that bad (it's almost negligible), and his push back in non-existent unless you get hit. After closing the gap, even if you can only close the gap slowly, and getting into the mid range, Grundy still as to worry about armor eating moves (so play smart and make good reads), but his mix ups are comparable to DS' and he can do more damage off them. On paper Grundy beats DS up close, and with the right reads Grundy destroys DS up close (just like much of the rest of the cast).

To end, the best option to counter annoying is patience, and the knowledge and ability to capitalize on opportunities. I may be preaching to the choir here, but you've got to know not only character's strengths and weakness, but pay attention to the players habits and playstyle so you can counter and exploint them in order to win. Knowing when to press and when to hold back is key. After playing DS for a while and realizing that for the most part his normals aren't that fast and his guns are crap up close, I can see that in the mid/close range DS is just an average fighter; he's good but far from the best.

Nerfing DS would destroy this character, and/or just potentially make him into another average rush down character. That would be more boring that he is now IMHO.

zoning is hella strong in this game. It has the same rewards as making a good read in close.

You just aren't rewarded for chucking shit out there willy nilly.

Its all good if I can do 100% damage if you mess up, like with Cyrax.

So you want to dumb the game down to COD level's so any dudebro can pick up the controller and mash out shit?

Fuck that and fuck anyone who thinks like that. I'd rather have a niche genre than a ruined one.
Isn't the game already super easy COD mode for the zoners? I'm a new player. I decided I was playing Harley because I like her. Not because I like FG games in general.
I've been working my ass off since the game came out to learn all the terms and figure out how to not get zoned constantly. I've been reading forums and watched videos and got my ass handed to me for hours all that JUST TO GET AROUND THE ZONING.

Meanwhile, in zoning land, they just keep shooting and don't have to learn shit.

Yeah, I won agaisnt some really cheap zoners here and there but it was not fun matches at all.
I watched Tom and REO's vid about how to get around DS with Lex. Things are always easier when you are a FG pro that knows the game inside out after 2 days and you are in practice mode telling your friend exactly what you are gonna do so he can prepare for it. "Gonna shoot you low then high. Ok I'll do exactly what I need to counter that and be like: see guys ?? It's easy !!" Also I thought they both sounded aggressive in that video which isn't appealing for noobs like me. Look I'm not trying to be the next champion or super elitist or anything I just wanna have a good time so don't need to remind me I'm a noob by saying stop QQing and it's easy since we can do it but you are bad since you can't and need to learn to play. At least that's how I felt after watching the video. That said I want to thank both Tom and REO for putting the efforts to help noobs like me and I hope you will do more videos.

Anyway, I'm still enjoying the game and trying to improve daily with Harley.

Zoning in this game is overrated. Only scrubs cry about zoning. None of the testers even use zoning characters and these players are currently the best Injustice players.

This community is just going through a crybaby phase that will go away in time.

Maybe you've lost your touch and are no longer the zoning master?

How many times must we do this song and dance? I'm a little upset with some of the comments I'm reading, but I'm not about to jump into this argument again.

lol

dude..... are we playing the same game? One zoner has a block infinite.....
walk speeds and good reads by said zoner make them good. It is just a fact.

I'm not crying. I am just pointing out that there are at least 3 characters that excel at keepout. But I do agree with the last statement. Community just needs to stfu and play more.... the game is not easy mode wins pew pew pew.

I am very sure that the Cyrborg block infinite combo will be patched shortly.

Walk speeds are fine. You are probably referring to the forward dashes. They are that way because the fireball recoveries are bad.

Seriously, unless you are an online player or part of GGA, you should not criticize the zoning gameplay in this game.

I'm not..... I think its fine. I was saying that its good. Zoners are fine (until another infinite is found).
I agree WITH YOU..... except you saying that zoning is overrated. If you are good at zoning... you will be rewarded.

Conveying emphasis is hard through text :(

glad you are trying though!

but yeah like you said, even BEATING a zoner isnt that fun, more like a workout

maybe not nerf zoners but buff rushdowners to have more options to get in? Zoners have too many options with interactables.

I'm sorry you took the vid in that manner, but honestly, and since your new to FGs you need to know this, learning one character is only a small percentage of what you need to know when playing a game of this type. You might want to main one character, but it is a must to have a funtional and working knowledge of the rest of the cast in order to know what they are good at, how your character can counter their playstyle, as well ass what you're bad at and how they can counter you. Not having this is only a recipe for sadness.

Also, and I can't (and wouldn't) speak for Reo or Tom, but that vid, though it did give strategies on what to do and how to do it, was really more of an anouncment that at that range even a character looked at as having no options, has options. I don't play Harley so take this with a grain of salt, but (I think) harley's guns are faster than DS, and harley's air guns are a viable option as well. Someone posted a vid of their Harley vs a DS and it was pretty good. I'd suggest just keep on expanding your knowledge of the game to learn as many potential options as you can.

Yes zoners have the advantage early in a game, any games, life. That is just a fact that people have to accept.

In order for a rush down character to prevail, they need to learn how to approach, they need to learn to maximize each single hit and convert them into big damage, the need to learn not just damaging combo's but ones that leave the opponent in a good place for the rushers to keep the offense going. This is not something that is going to be learned overnight or in a few days. Even if you do manage to work your way in, unless your close game in on point you won't be able to make the most out it.

But the game does develop, rushers start figuring things out and it gets to the point where rushers often have the advantage over zoners in many game due to the rushers learning the best ways to approach and can convert into huge damage- more damage than the zoner can ever do.

That is just a fact of fighting games, people don't want to work on rushing when zoning is so easy to do at the start, but the ones who do work on it and stick with it, will destroy everyone clamoring to the easiest stuff without doing their homework either.
