I do have to admit that I wish they'd give BA an air dash, I mean he would be insane and probably broken if they did, but you can't blame me for wishing it was there. I guess he doesn't really need to wreck Deathstroke any harder than he already does.

Also, a new 52 skin for BA, but that's besides the point.

Guys, i have good news and i have REALLY bad news

most of the cast can punish a less than halfscreen divekick with d1 special as he lands within a like 10f window

good news is it has to be done fast but you can do it on reaction but i dont know which d1s exactly

the idea came to me when i was testing out aquaman and thought he can also d1 special to punish all divekicks

ill test it out more later

Which is why you dont do half screen regular divekicks if they can be blocked. You should do it on reaction to something or if it has a chance to be blocked EX to make yourself have advantage. Divekick should not be risky at all. Adam doesnt have to play risky.

i used divekick as a whiff punisher, this greatly alters my game especially when all i actuallywant is to switch sides

since it was considered to be pretty safe despite frame data it used to be an excelent whiff punisher that barely had any negatives

good thing i zone with him more than i rush down

If the questions I'm about to ask have been covered already, I apologize

1) I'm getting a bad habit of constantly going for crossup 2 to start my pressure. What are you guys using for footsies, because playing footsies w Adam feels awkward to me.

2) I've noticed in some matchups (namely Grundy so far) I've been using close lightning bomb as a rattlesnake tactic, and surprisingly it seems to tag anyone out of their attack animations as long as they don't have armor. Its saved me during Grundy's trait, Grundy's lunge grab (the armored one) after he has me, and Raven's ermac shenanigans. This is a pain to recreate but I'll try to get some video evidence tonight.

3) I know its too early to spout matchup numbers, but Hawkgirl concerns me.
She seems to hang out in Adam's dead zone (in the air, 1/2 to 3/4 screen away) and meeting her in the air w j.2 isn't cutting it.
Anyone have insight on how we should treat this match?

4) I watched Vulcan Hades video on bomb setups and stumbled into this: (p1 Gotham City - Rooftop, center)

{Orbs} j.2, 2,2,Interact* 2,2,b1 xx mid bomb, nj FarDivekick, B3, j2, B2,3,u1+3

(*-Helicopter)
Seems to be a 66% (34+32) reset if you can pin them on wakeup so the bomb tags them.
Would you guys call this a solid setup or is there some way I can improve on it? Or at least ensure the reset better?

adam is not one to start any pressure other than fishing for whiff punishes and B12 after they respect your b23 options (never)

hes more of a zoning whiff punisher with strong footsie tools

b1 and b2 are good traveling pokes. Useful for when you don't want to do a full dash. They're essentially like mini dashes. :) You can go under jump in cross-ups with them for example.

Black Adam's entire footsie game revolves around his mobility tbh. Back walk and backdash are his best moves. They are amazing both for defensive and offensive purposes. Dive Kick and Black Magic allow nearly full screen whiff punishing. Dive Kick can also be used as a teleport, to modify jump arc trajectory and to mixup.

Not sure I understand your reset. I'd have to watch a video of it.

Black adams rushdown is overly good.

Some testing i did last night basically. 11 is neutral on block, if blocked batmans 1 will trade with adams 1 as they are both 6 frames.

With that in mind, 1,1~orbs cuts the recovery so much, that batman couldnt poke or even jump if i input his 15 frame b2. What this means is that 11~orbs gives black adam at least +9 or +10 if batmans 6 frame 1 wont come out in the gap.

So now you can add in throws, which are 10 frames and inescapable aswell.

I tested a few of his other normals but basically the notable ones are 22~orbs and b1~orbs, as they both give decent enough advantage on block for a d1 or 11 if they dont duck.

Something else too, B1~orbs on hit gives enough advantage for a cross over 2 to still combo. Using that i managed to get the following;

B1~orbs, Crossup 2, 22~black magic, WAIT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, 22b1, J2, 11~orbs, B23 U1+3.

Double trait combo, the black magic holds them long enough for a small break, giving the orbs time to come off cooldown by the time you get the 11~orbs.

This combo does 49/50% on my unpatched game (no internet yet) but the damage % changes depending on how the orbs hit in time with the B23 because of scaling, its minute though.

NOTE: I AM A RETARD AND DONT HAVE THE DAY 1 PATCH. PLEASE DONT LISTEN TO ANYTHING I SAY UNTIL YOU CONFIRM IT WORKS IN THE PATCHED VERSION.

That's the key word. This combo won't work post patch and none of the orb cancels give this much advantage anymore.

For reals? Im so upset hearing that, like, spent a good amount of hours doing physical tests on what stuff he can do with orb cancels!

You got me all excited for a sec then I read you don't even have the patch yet lol. :p I was wondering why you kept saying Black Adam was OP. Now I understand why.. you're playing a different Black Adam.

Just tested and b1 xx orbs, j2 isn't a combo.

Thanks buddy, you got all excited, imagine how i feel knowing now that like 4 hours of lab work testing his strings and setups vs 6,7,8,9,10 frame moves to see what will trade so i can figure out his exact +frames, is all gone to shit! Load of bollocks :(

I will get the patch asap, and refine all the testing that i did, hopefully will have something solid before the end of the week!

If it can be any comfort, you still gave me some good ideas that I didn't think about.

I mostly use orbs for hit confirming in matches. But using Orbs to cancel recovery allows for a whole new world of frametraps and setups that I didn't really see before. :) For example: 2,2,b1 is -5 so a knowledgeable player will be tempted to counter poke after blocking this, but surprise you active orbs into 1,1 and get a counter hit into a full combo.

Same with strings that are around +2, the opponent could be tempted to reversal/armor through your frametrap, but if you activate orbs you can jump/attack/backdash much earlier than you normally would be able to.

This is basically what i was testing, alot of strings that are neutral or + were giving me enough advantage for 11, 22 or in some cases B2 to be true blockstrings and completely unavoidable.

i use orbs to punish blockstrings, most of them, if blocked correctly, allow for all orbs to hit them during their blockstring.

i also use them to punish teleports like the one ares has

even if im not fast enough to get the punish i can dial in a throw and do 24% dmg coupled with the orbs

so doomsday can punish normal divekick no matter where it hits.

He can also body splash it for full combo on reaction to your jump. Doomsday might be Adams only bad MU in my eyes right now. And its a bitch to deal with this early.
