Another good starter off a jump attack is the F1, 3. (string that hits low then launches those inputs maybe off) then 1,1 Swamp hands MB, walk into a B3, jump 3, 1,1,trait. Comes out to be 40ish %.

That's true, but I don't see why you wouldn't do a 11 hit confirm into 2~MB Swamp hands, you always get 55%+ from it, especially if you do MB Swamp hands, grave rot, B+3, jump 3, 1,1 trait (health).

My friend who wants to main Grundy just got the game, he played MK9 a tiny bit but for the most party he's competely new to fighters but he's smart and good at learning. What are some crucial things you think a potential Grundy player would need to know? Some crucial bnbs to get him started, when and when not to do a certain move or string, etc. I don't want to link him to the Grundy bnb thread cause it's just so full of combo notations and it will overwhelm him and I don't know Grundy enough to tell him what to learn.

I really appreciate any help I can get. :)
Alright first, learn how far his moves go, he has several punishes, 8 frames-d+2, 10 frames-throw, 11 frames-2. His most used footsie tools is his d+1, d+3, f+1, and 2. You gotta learn how to do WCC (Walking corpse cancel) as well as learning the range of his trait throw and normal throw. 113 is one of his pressure strings, however, always do 11 and see if they get hit, if they get hit and you have meter, hit confirm into 112 and do MB Swamp hands, if they do not get hit, just do 113, it's +1 so it's pretty good. The range at which his d+1 hits at just the tip of his fist is how far the trait throw can land.

Pressure with:
f+1,3, 113, 2, d+3, d+1,2, d+1, trait throw, WCC, MB f+3/b+3 and MB cleaver spin.

Here's some go to bnbs to start with:
113, 11~trait throw
112~MB Swamp hands, dash forward, b+3, ji.3, 11~trait throw
f+1,3, 11~trait throw
f+1,3 11~MB Swamp hands, dash forward, b+3, ji.3, 11~Trait throw
2~MB swamp hands, dash forward, b+3, ji.3, 11~Trait throw

Here's his go to bnb once you learn your shit:
112~MB Swamp hands, grave rot, b+3, ji.3, 11~trait throw

Corner:
113, 1,b+2~trait throw
112~MB Swamp hands, f+3, j.2, 11~trait throw
112~MB Swamp hands, grave rot, f+3, j.2, 11~Trait throw
f+1,3 1,b+2~trait throw
f+1,3 11~MB Swamp hands, f+3, j.2, 11~trait throw

im not sure if this works properly can people help me test my controller is bogey so it doesnt work for me all the time
ji2 3 mb swamp hands rinse repeat ,
u can also link either his f1 which hits overhead or his b2 which hits low into mb swamp hands
wastes hella meter but grundy has free armour
ive gotten up to three reps of this and the damage resets each time, ive had the comp on auto block so it could be this being buggy i dunno

I jump in and hit low after I've condition them to block 11 string off jumps. Pretty sure the low lunging kick can be interrupted if opponent knows its coming but it surprises people. Sorry, Im not at home and dont know the exact input

Makes sense, I respect that. Would it be better to jump in and d+1, f+1/d+1,3? or not possible

D+1 into throw or SH should link and be a faster start up plus you can add the grave rot if u know the timing and get the damage output. Adding grave rot is still really hard for me. Kinda why i go with the 2 hit string that starts low then launches because its 10-11% string. After the launch the 11 SH MB pushes the opponent way too far for a grave rot but you can still walk forward and do B3 easy.

I feel like the risk of a slow start up is worth it to get the damage because Im struggling link SH MB into grave rot. Being able to link SH MB into grave rot will make a significant difference into Grundy's play style per player

To everyone struggling with the MB Swamp hands into grave rot, the most crucial part of that link is your cancel into grave rot, if you miss it by even a frame you won't get it. So how do you time it?

Audio:
You know the sound effect swamp hands makes on MB? Wait for it to finish and then input grave rot.

Visually:
After Grundy starts to stand up from the swamp hands, input grave rot

Muscle memory:
After I input swamp hands (Which I double tap my 2 button) I double tap my 3 button for grave rot.

If you still have trouble, just practice MB Swamp hands, grave rot, b+3. If it goes to 2 hits, you're doing it right.

Has anyone ever managed to hit the full poem? I've seen a guy get as far as "Wednesday" and that was as close as I got to hearing his life story. Has anyone uploaded the full poem combo somewhere?

Not possible to hit his full combo, he always stops at Wednesday.

I do suppose a 7 grab long chain grapple is a bit much though. Even King or Bayman didn't have anything as ridiculous as that would become.

Grundy is pretty fun. His d2 is great for AA and all his combos are simple, except trying to fit it a grave rot. Is the trait techable or escapable in any way if tacked on to the end of a block string?
