So with Injustice coming out at midnight tonight and having knowledge of the game and the characters in it, I feel I should say this before the community reacts to the game tonight/tomorrow. Theres a few topics I should discuss here, some of it has already been said by other players so excuse me if I'm repeating what ______ said already.
..first and foremost…
This is NOT MORTAL KOMBAT
Forget everything you know about it... Injustice plays completely differently. From the characters to the controls, to the movement, to the fundamentals etc. This game is supposed to be an entirely different series. It's not designed to cater to MK/SF/UMVC453453 players.... It's designed for injustice players... Comparing this game to any other fighting game is completely redundant.
Shit is gonna be broken….
Like any other new fighting game, injustice will have its balancing issues during its early life. When you release a brand new game to countless high level players who thrive on discovering broken shit, this is bound to happen. There will be characters that completely dominate others, there will be resets, infinites (well hopefully not), “unfair” frame advantage, ridiculous damage, and a bunch of other shit we can’t even dream of….. Don’t freak out….. A lot of it will be patched out in the coming months…. It won’t happen as quickly as you want it to, but take a breath…. Put the gun down…..put your clothes on….. and give the developers time to adjust the game before swearing against it..
This game is balanced differently
Keep in mind that NRS’s methods of balancing injustice will not be the same as how they did MK. I think it’s a fair assumption that they’re going for more of a “Buff 2 instead of nerfing 1” mentality… Although that IS NOT to say that they won’t nerf broken stuff that obviously needs to be nerfed.
Let the tournament level players be the voices for balance changes.
Balance changes are made so that at the “highest level” as many chars can be considered viable/competitive as possible.
Not so that it’s easier for you to get around zoning
Not so that it’s easier for you to beat ______ character instead of taking the time to study the matchup.
Not so that your main/favorite character can plow through the whole cast with little effort.
9 times out of 10, your char doesn’t need changes…. Your gameplay does…
Tournament level players spend the most time studying this game to the last frame and can differentiate the best between. “Oh this is really tough to work around, I have to improve my play”and “Oh this shit is gamebreaking”
You’re more than welcome to voice your opinion about changes you’d like to see…. But please let’s not have a Kano repeat…..
Tournament players, we have a responsibility to this community.
Tournament players need to step into the role model shoes for this community.
If your desire is to help the scene grow as much as possible and to bring people in. Than please show respect to new players, share ALL tech and strat you find with the community, be patient with the attitudes of new players (That’s something I especially need to work on) and please stop holding onto every negative comment about you that is said by someone!
People talk shit. Instead of punishing the community as a whole for the actions of few, just fucking ignore them….. Someone talked shit about you…. Do you agree with what they said? If you do than adjust whatever it is about yourself you don’t like…. If you don’t agree with them there is NO POINT in letting whatever they said take up another second in your mind. Let it go. Be the bigger person.. And PLEASE STOP taking what 9 or 10 people think/say and chalking it up to “well the whole community thinks that” the whole community doesn’t. A select few do. Blaming it on an entire group of people is ignorant. NO REPEATS OF MK9!
Community, go easy on tourney players.
I know you don’t owe us anything. I know it’s your right to voice your opinion. But maybe tone it down a bit? Tourney players are human beings at the end of the day and that “_____ is a washed up garbage player” fucks with the mind of even the best player…. I watched Brady slowly but surely go practically insane because of some of the shit this community said about him during MK9 and Brady wasn’t the only instance….. Think about what you say before you say it, and who you’re saying it to. Otherwise don’t be surprised if people just keep their info/tech to themselves.
That’s it for now….. My main point in all of this is…. Let the game breath before overreacting to it. Let the developers make adjustments, let the high level of play develop, and let the community evolve before creating that “Petition to ban _________ character” thread. Or that “This game is fucking garbage” attitude. Just soak up the info for now, have fun with the game, and most importantly……
