This should be mandatory reading for new comers. Also would love to see this on: trmk, mku, gamefaqs and any other boards. I do believe NRS themselves learned from the patching of mk9 and they know now who to truly listen to.

Unfortunately its already begun people just cant seem to hold their tongues there are already grumblings of deathstrokes zoning being too powerful and 80% of people havnt even experienced it first hand! I guess zoning characters arent supposed to be good at what they do lol.

Id like to add to what you have already, even the smallest complaint can be seen as balance changing so think before you mention x tactic is cheap KNOWLEDGE IS POWER SCRUBS!

I just have one question(and yea, I'm grasping at straws here): You say tourney level players. Would that include everyone that goes to tournaments or are you just referring to the top placers?
Anyone can go to a tournament. I'm guessing it's those who are really good at fighting games (ie better than the rest of us) whose opinion should be valued the most.

Let the tournament level players be the voices for balance changes.

Balance changes are made so that at the “highest level” as many chars can be considered viable/competitive as possible.

Not so that it’s easier for you to get around zoning
Not so that it’s easier for you to beat ______ character instead of taking the time to study the matchup.
Not so that your main/favorite character can plow through the whole cast with little effort.
9 times out of 10, your char doesn’t need changes…. Your gameplay does…

Tournament level players spend the most time studying this game to the last frame and can differentiate the best between. “Oh this is really tough to work around, I have to improve my play”and “Oh this shit is gamebreaking”
You’re more than welcome to voice your opinion about changes you’d like to see…. But please let’s not have a Kano repeat…..
I disagree with this to some extent. The tournament scene is actually very small compared to the online scene, and when you have dozens upon dozens of online players complaining over something like Kano's upball and knives, then there's clearly a problem. If it's just a move that is harder to punish online (i.e. teleport 3), fine. But when you have a move that becomes practically an infinite, and then you have a bunch of players abusing it to boost their record, that fucks the game over. It's up to NRS to predict how much worse a move can become online. And if it's really, really bad, then GG offline scene, but they need to fix it.

Mind you, I'm basing this on pre-patch MK9 (AKA the Kano saga). Shit was broken.

I disagree with your disagreement, online should never be the measuring stick of how a game is played, and there is no correlation between bad online and a small offline tourny scene. People who never take time to learn and attempt to combat something before crying foul are the last ones anyone should listen to.

Disagree a hundred percent.

Balancing a game to cater to a game mode that does not run to the games fullest potential is wrong. The offline scene should not suffer because the flaws of online play change the game. You should never balance in favor of a flawed system at the expense of an unflawed one.

You may hate to hear this but there's no money in NRS catering to what TYM thinks is right.

They will listen to the majority or the majority will stop buying their games. TYM sales alone cannot support this company.

NRS can try to appease the TYMers to an extent, but not if it means alienating the masses.

I'm sure NRS likes making "tournament level" fighters, but not as much as it likes making money.

Don't get it twisted.
