My first impressions of the Injustice DEMO

Lol so your saying u don't need strict timing in MK to do combo's? Not saying that all combo's are hard to do, but there are plenty of difficult ones too where u DO need strict timing to pull it off..
Not saying that man I just mean in comparison to MK the combos feel more strict not a bad thing

Wow I don't care what people say, this game feels VERY different from MK to me.. Well... The gameplay does at least.

Also, I like how you have a TON of breathing room between you and your opponent. Hopefully this will make the game more about footsies and zoning and less about blind rushdown. I remember hearing about there being multiple character archtypes in the full version so that's good to hear.

Batman is super fun to play but mostly because he is broke as hell, once he rushes Lex down there's almost nothing he can do about it. I hope the balance patches focus less on nerfing top tiers and more on making every character good, who gives a shit how "messy" it will make the game, messy games are fun as hell. Some of the most balanced (good) fighting games are messy such as Vsav(unblockables) or SF2:HF (redizzy combos)

I am also hoping that the game doesn't receive 9000 patches at the start like MK9 did, that really turned a lot of people off. NRS should let us figure out the game for ourselves and don't patch ALL our problems away, only patch the obvious gamebreaking glitches.

Thread is tl;dr. Read Juggs' first post, then skimmed through until I saw a bunch of no names dismissing 16 Bit aka "a guy who actually knows things", had a Vietnam style flashback to early MK9, calmed myself, and am now posting this before I go to sleep:

1) I don't care what anyone thinks about the balance of a demo, not even Juggs. The build we get on the disk in two weeks could (99% likelihood that it actually will) be entirely different.
  • 1a) It's not even like there could possibly be any metagame developed from this demo. It's three characters with an SNK boss NPC at the end of the arcade ladder. And again, will be entirely obsolete in two weeks.
2) LOL @ anyone saying any aspect of anything is "too weak/strong/good/bad/slow/fast/broken" at this point. Seriously. El-oh-goddamn-motherfuckin'-EL.
  • 2a) And preemptive LOL @ anyone saying any aspect of anything is "too weak/strong/good/bad/slow/fast/broken" at any time BEFORE at least six months after April 16th. Are people's memories seriously this short? No one remembers that when MK9 came out we had a largely good game with a challenging and promising metagame that was turned into rock/paper/scissors on the shortbus in the shortest order possible because dickhead scrubs thought they knew what was broken in less than three months after release despite not having a) competitive experience or b) a general clue.
How about we all take a blood-oath to actually let what could quite possibly be the most brutally awesome fighter ever made actually have a chance to develop a real metagame before we launch campaigns to implement huge changes like dash-cancels? Please? PLEASE?

If anyone wants a non-MK9 example of the patchgods bending to the will of the great uninformed: Soulcalibur V... Viola. Technically challenging character to use, was patched like six weeks into the game to have her damage output basically doubled because Viola players were terrible at that point and couldn't beat Nightmare. So we ended up with a fast character with crazy pressure and meterbuilding ability that can virtually 100% you off a 3B for full meter. But it was six weeks into the game so she was woefully unexplored, thus people TOTALLY MISSED HER INFINITE. Now she's banned.

Does anyone want to sit there and tell me that there's a single fucking Viola player out there that thinks it was worth it to campaign for those buffs? And in the process they essentially forced every serious player that wanted to use her competitively to swallow a suicide pill due to their blind ignorance and impatience. All because they opted to speak from the ass rather than the brain.

The true golden rule is silence. And seriously, some of you are typing shit like you know what you're talking about.

Seriously what the fuck? Dash cancels are one of those things that you don't notice the importance of until there gone.


Really makes the combos in this game feel weird and clunky, and also makes me feel like I have less flexibility.

Why would they do this? Who thought that this was a good idea? Would making dashes attack cancelable be a thing they can patch in?

How easy did u zone any if the characters out on very hard mode??

Maybe u should watch the Ai and how it plays because the testers had a programmer program It in

I couldn't LMFAO. But I was Batman. Batman has ass zoning tbh

It is tru that dashing is bad in this game but dashing is bad in general, games like marvel endorse dashing because it helps and can be canceled into a plethora of moves that just kill on touch. MK9 dashing was bad in this as well but not so much because the ability to cancel into a normal, that still didnt make me dash happy i prefer to walk it easier to judge things.


I said it before when Pako said that Dashing cant be canceled that we are all going to have to walk and this demo changes nothing, I have no problem with the walking and i am sure it will grow on people.

The only thing that im thinking about is with wiff punishing normals when the walk speed is this slow (keep in mind people this is still just 3 characters from and OLD build) there wont be much full combo punishing wiffed normals with normals into combo atleast untill a bit after the game is out.

To all who are complaining about poor dashing just wait and you will see the game evolve and remember that walking is the new way forward for some of the MKc

I'm getting my ass handed to me by Lex Luthor right now. This guy is the biggest cheater of all time.
I don't know, Wonder Twat gives some bad ass-kickings too lol! This game plays soooo different from MK9, it is a really big adjustment if your use to its mechanics and feel. I think we can all agree this definitely is NOT MK9 with DC characters.

Yeah, the bats part is taking me some tome to get used to. Not to mention they go away when he's hit.
Now that I didn't know, but see I'm using WW and all my friend was doing was turning them on at full screen and using them to cover his approach, or parry and then use them on a long combo off the ensuing jump in.

I don't see what the big deal is.. Ok, you have to space and time your dashes. But that actually feels exciting to me. Picking the perfect moment to dash up, or managing your spacing so that you can leap in with a long dash and blow someone up at the perfect moment.

Also, a lot of characters have something that was mostly absent in MK9 -- mid-range attacks. Whips, lassos, tridents, axes, staff, etc. What that means is that you can start to pressure and interact with your opponent before you are actually standing directly in their face. When one of these attacks connects, you can use the hitstun to dash all the way in and then start up-close pressure, or go for a crossup.

A lot of characters have mobility tools built-in. I think people are just rushing to try to make this game like MK9 instead of playing it for what it is.
I think is the issue alot of people are having. I think alot of us were expecting the game to play pretty similar to MK9, and it plays nothing like it so this is going to take some practice and patience to get better at this game. But that is the great, it IS different and fresh so everyone has kind of a like a new chance to get better and improve, I have to hand it to NRS they really did a kickass job with the game(from what I have seen from the demo). They definitely stuck to their words with making Injustice a separate title from MK9.

Well they said the boss of the game would most likely be a buffed up playable character. I am guessing Doomsday is that buffed-up boss...

I don't even want to play MK after spending hours on the Injustice demo. At first I was getting really frustrated because of the whole dash blocking thing. Those that seen me play mk9 recently know that I dash block A LOT. Playing without a practice mode for me was difficult to handle since mk was my first fighting game. I asked myself what would be my best option around the problems I was having. I simply switched to pad and the game felt extremely comfortable. My muscle memory on hitbox really set me back and switching to pad solved a lot of my problems. I know its CPUs but I even ended up beating the battle mode on very hard consistently by the end of the night. I'm not sure if I'll switch back to hitbox when the game comes out.

I'm not pointing fingers to anyone in this thread but most of the people I see complaining are just too lazy adapt to a new system. They want everything spoon fed to them. I give major props to all the old school arcade guys not having any kind of practice mode or consistent patches like mk9. The way I see it is this demo shows what kind of player you are.

The stage interactions have a really slow start up animation, they can punished pretty easily if you don't have the proper space(In Arcade you never do because of how on your ass the CPU is -_-).

Seriously, who knows lol. Superman could snap out of it towards the end of the story. He does have his regular good costume which isn't really regime like. Even Shazzam has costumes that I feel are dependent on which side he is on in the story. The black night (hood/cape) and white night (hood/cape) thing. I could be wrong and the normal superman costume could be for show.

The main thing is the start up animation, it is sooo punishable to where you really can't use it to get away from pressure. I can't tell you how many times I tried to jump off the Batman light while Doomsday was rushing my ass. As soon as I jumped in the air, boom everything was over lol.

Demo shows this is not the MK9 replacement.

Batman seems cool and I find him fun so far. Although, using versus as pseudo training mode I've already heard "Stay down" a million times.
