I false jump kick without hitting Smoke and go right into Blade Fury or Ball punch followed by uppercut. i'm more worried about being thrown. rarely does Smoke block and punish my strategy, and it is on the highest difficulty.

Yeah. Sometimes he will roundhouse you to death when you try my strategy.

With my strategy, (and this only works for Cage and Baraka) you never hit Smoke with the kick. You never block either. You have to do it from a distance that makes him hesitate. It's not perfect, but it is the easiest way to double flawless him. One mistake and you're in trouble though.

Fighting on the portal stage is going to be very interesting. I have to wonder if some players will purposely look for uppercuts while others may attempt to turtle the hell out of the stage just to avoid a potential match loss.

I'd like to know how other players beat him with other characters. Most impressive I saw was LS460L getting him with Kung Lao. He almost dbl flawlessed Smoke too. I couldn't believe it. He used the dive kick as a lure, not a weapon. Can't remember how though.

To eliminate the risk all together, you could simply not allow matches to take place on the portal stage. If it comes up exit the match and start again. This would guarantee no Smoke.

You could always pick a ninja and just do the "jump backwards/enemy follows/punish" trick.

That would defeat the entire purpose of allowing players to try and beat him in the first place. Some players who know they may not have a chance to win this might find it easier to just beat Smoke and knock the player out that way.

YourMKArcadeSourceYou are right. Not sure if he jumps if you play on the right. That used to be the big thing when playin on the left side got too easy. Lol, lots of sweeping was involved to force the computer back to a corner.

I'm really excited for the tournament, but I would like to bring back the Shang morphing debate. I feel like morphing is what makes Shang "high-mid," and we shouldn't take that away. I have no problem letting people morph into top tier. You still have to have a lot of skill to handle morphing into top tier as Shang, and taking that away is really doing Shang a disservice. Think of it this way, if it was such a big factor wouldn't Shang consistently be No.1 on tier lists? but he isn't, even with morphs he cant touch top tier. We shouldn't hinder Shang!

Point is understood and appreciated, but the rules have been finalized.

After more consideration, the following adaptations have been added to the tournament this Saturday....
  • Flawless victories result in a guaranteed $25 cash prize per match
  • Winning all 4 matches with Reptile result in an additional $100 cash prize per occurrence
  • If I win, I become an admin here at TYM
  • If anyone else wins, they gain my lead moderator position at TYM

Part of me thinks I should just quit, I dont know what happened or if its MKAK or what but I cant even beat anyone anymore, nobody.

Ive turned into a total joke in this game, no clue why or how.
