Fatal February '13 MK2 Tournament - COMPLETED

BillyBats isn't going to play and I'm pretty sure Brian won't either. That just leaves Kraptile as the only other legacy member, though I doubt he will play at this point.

AstroZombieCBGB has been removed from the signup list for failing to respond. We are now at 10 entrants.

I invite Brian often but he says he has a broken controller, so I doubt he'll play. That sucks, coz his Raiden would have been beastly in this tournament. He's won top-tier allowed tournaments with that Raiden!

I told AcidMonkeyPunch about the tournament and he sounded interested. I also told him he needed to join TYM and post his entry in this thread. Not sure if he understood me or not though. I'll ask him again later tonight.

I wouldn't mind if he signed up. He'd be a good addition to the tourney for sure. He's got until Friday to signup so there's no rush at the moment.

That rule is in effect for this tournament only. We're experimenting with it because MK2 tournaments typically come down to Liu Kang and Mileena at high level. This should open things up to a wider range of characters.

Tournament is 3 days away!

Here's an issue that could come up...

MKAK drops connections sometimes. When that happens, it tells both players "Other Player Has Left The Game".
Obviously you can tell that neither player has paused the game to quit when they're both amid a battle.
But what are the rules in case this occurs? I ask because when Edfig and I played a few months ago, this happened to us about 5 times.

It's covered in the rules. Restart the match with the same characters. If you were in the second or third round then the prior round wins are omitted.

So if I win the 1st round, my opponent purposely quits the 2nd Round and says we disconnected... my 1st round win doesn't count moving forward? Just trying to be clear.

Correct. Now if the disconnecting is suspicious, like right before the end of a game when it is obvious the other guy was about to lose, then report it and it will be reviewed.

You would be surprised at the types of sore losers you run across in offline play. It's never happened to me, but I've heard stories of someone who yanked his controller stick out of the game console right as they were about to lose and then walked away. The guy was immediately DQ'd and laughed out of the building.

do we have to choose the same character for every match? if kitana is my character and my opponent is kitana i dont want to mirror match.

You can choose whoever you want and switch your characters at any time. The only restriction is that you cannot choose one of the top tiered characters (Liu, Mileena, Jax.)

A couple things...
  • Brackets will not be posted until 7pm tomorrow when I know how many people have actually shown up for the tournament. I want to avoid reposting brackets if possible.
  • Please try to access the chatroom at some point today or tomorrow before the tournament begins just to ensure there won't be any problems during the tournament.
Here are instructions for entering the chat room:
CHAT ROOM​
When you enter the chatroom, do the following:
1. Enter your username
2. Wait for the room to load
3. Once room appears, enter the following text then hit enter (without quotes)
"/join #MK2"​

Reminder.... the tournament begins at...
7pm Eastern time
6pm Central time
5pm Mountain time
4pm Pacific time
