Tekken Tag Tournament 2 General Discussion

slips, whats your opinion on xiaoyu? think she is a solid character? And who is a good tag partner with her?
I think she's good. Her strength is that she's really hard to get in on. Meaning she's really evasive and she's got moves that are quick and recover good on whiff that have good reward when they counter hit. Then when people get scared trying to hit her you can rush people down with her mix-ups which are pretty decent. She does a lot of damage too for a little girl and she has really good wake-ups too.

Her weakness is her whiff punishing is kinda eh as well as punishing in things on block in general. But I think her strengths make up for it pretty well.

Any advice for the budding capo player? Im really not used to 140+ moves sets, anything in particular I should be focusing on, fundamental-wise? Cause I'm a bit....in over my head at the moment :/

Your core moves in space are df2, uf4, ss4 and d3+4. ss3+4 is good too. You can throw these out on most people without getting whiff punished and get good reward if they hit. From there you should be able to get your opponent to freeze and do what you want to do. What you want to do is up to you. ;)

Any tips for King? I don't know many good combo starters due to his lack of launchers. :(

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
So I finally got around to seeing whats new with Kazuya in the lab (bear with me, I usually play DVJ when I'm on a Mishima grind lol), what's the downside to transforming him into Devil? He doesn't seem to sacrifice anything. It's shit like this where Namco just needs to get off their stubborn asses and make him a separate character..

his twin pistons is not a WS move... so he loses the gut punch into OH or Kick.

This concept I like. Seems like there is hella opportunity to be creative and create some serious shenanigans. I assume the notation ss is sidestep?

I like the idea of freezing the opponent up in anticipation. It appeals to the sub and scorpion main in me. Thanks for taking the time to help out a noob, brother.

Obviously I couldn't have been more wrong when I said that Bryan is an offensive character. Like Crathen said he is a whiff punisher/punisher... and a damn good one I might add.

I don't know if this 2 team thing with Bryan/Heihachi and Bruce/Jinpachi is going to last... 3/4 of the time I spend in training mode is with Heihachi when I have the time to play the game which right now is on weekends only really. I don't feel like I am in over my head using 4 characters, but 5 or more is too much right now.

So, how do you guys choose/chose your characters? Is it just something that when you try out a character you and that character feels like some grand destiny or do you try to play characters that don't necessarily click right away? In MK9 for example I didn't like Jax initially, but ended up playing him a lot and started to really like him as I learned how to play him.

i chose my team based on how easy or how long it will take me to get their moves down. and after trying it out for a while it just became natural. so thats how i chose mine. i tried other character but the moves were not that coming fluent to me.

I am just weighing my options right now as to whether or not I want to keep using Jinpachi. Bruce can be practically paired with anybody due to his versatility and I like him too much to drop him. Bryan/Heihachi for me "feels like it's meant to be". Bob/Kazuya/Feng/Dragunov/Armor King/Miguel or someone else to replace him (Jinpachi) or not I just don't know.

no he still has the demon god fist thingy.

its df1 2 is different. I think there are a few tiny others... like ff2 being different as well.
Yeah my bad I see what you mean now. Twin Pistons replaces the move that bounds.
I quickly got reminded of why I don't really use Kazuya, that god damn mist step always gets in the way when I try to mix up between a lightdash and wavedash -_-

How are you guys constructing your BNBs? I'm having a serious issue following up for max damage of a given launch. There's so many follow ups to choose from. I mean I can do the samples in the movelists but the seem a bit impractical for real match situations

Choose your character, and their forum will have a combo thread with everyone's standard max damage bread and butter combos. You don't need to stress your brain for hours trying to come up with them, especially if you're new to Tekken. It's a lot easier when you've been playing for years and know everyone's moveset already... coming from past games its fairly obvious what the optimum juggles are, but I can imagine for a new player trying to come up with their own, it could seem overwhelming.

You generally want 3 go-to combos, and they're mostly variations on a single theme.
1. High damage solo combo
2. High damage tag assault combo
3. Long wall carry tag assault combo
