There wouldn't be another single character dominating MUs across the entire board, because there isn't one, the other two best characters are Kenshi and Sonya but they do in fact have bad MUs. No character should have 6-4's and above on the entire cast, that's moronic. 10-0 on large hitbox characters as well essentially.

Kabal will kill the diversity in the game if NRS doesn't patch him. CD Jr's picking him up specifically to compete with Kabal and I don't blame him. I forsee a lot of Kabal vs Kabal in the future and as we all know Tekken 6 at EVO with Bob vs Bob killed the game. It's in the competitive players best interest to play diverse characters due to the fact that nobody wants to see Kabal vs Kabal, that in turn is going to get MK kicked off MLG pretty damn quickly with no views.

Despite the fact that everyone thinks I'm bitching about the character, ultimately I'm not, I don't travel across the country to play this game competitively but I do enjoy the fact that there's been diversity in this game. We've seen most of the cast in top 8-16 but everyone's starting to pick up Kabal to deal with Kabal since he is indeed in a tier of his own. Without people interested in the game and without people watching the streams this game will die; Kabal will cause that swift death. I'm an outsider in all of this, I'm not trying to get that paper, but for the guys who are...you should listen to this because it is indeed going to effect you. You all know how MLG operates, Esports without the fans will not get you paid.

Because people are still trying to poke after 2 NDC and shit like that. I'm not talking just randoms who aren't hip to frame data. I'm talking solid players are doing stuff like this still. Also people still don't entirely value the importance of positioning against this character.

Oh I am, greatly. I just don't know what to say to this argument anymore.
This isn't just a matter of the metagame. Great players will always find a way to win.
It's the difference between what's gonna keep this game alive after EVO and what could potentially permamently stagnate it.

It's been over a year now, and there has yet to be found a single, solid, sure-fire way to beat Kabal.
Everyone else has a weakness. Everyone.
Kenshi's big and has holes in his zoning. Jax has to corner you to really destroy you. Sonya's weak from a distance. As is Cage. Raiden's slow. Lao's too risky. Sektor can only do so much if you're blocking low without risking punishment. Skarlet's zoning isn't high in damage anymore and she's very meter-dependant. As is Quan. Etcetera.
Kabal has none of these problems. In fact, he excels in just about every department these aforementioned characters fail in.

And yet people are going to continue to claim this isn't a problem .

This isn't old Lao where the promise of the final patch kept people on board until it was fixed, there's a pretty good chance this isn't gonna change, and apparently the "Cant beat 'em, join 'em" philosophy is the only way to deal with it. When tip of the top, best of the best players have to abandon the characters and strategies that have been getting them where they are since the start because they know there's no other way around it, that to me seems like a big deal.
The few diehard traveling regulars the scene has are gonna keep doing what they do regardless, and you can't fault them for that, but I personally am really not looking forward to the day MK becomes, as Piggy put it, Kabal Kombat.

No, I'm not a top player, and I'm never gonna be, but neither are a lot of the players and dedicated fans and followers who are worried and pissed off about this. And if I had the time or the money to do so, you better believe I'd be at every fucking show Greyhound had the bus routes to take me to, because I love this game and this scene to pieces, which is the only reason why this concerns me so much. It sucks. It plain outright sucks that after all this time, after all this work, as much progress as has been made in spite of the terrible odds for success MK was said to have had, that the Christmas Ghost Of Broken Bullshit has to come forth and haunt this game yet again. But as popular opinion implies, that's competition...I guess. Do whatever one has to do to win with the tools its makers gives you, no matter what kind of damage it can do. Don't blame the players, blame the builders.
For me, as long as Mr. Mil is still repping the women of Edenia, Slips is still slinging spears, Kizzle's still shooting missles, and there are still a few remaining warrior souls out there unwilling to abandon their weapons of choice just to more easily deal with this shit, at least there'll still be hope.
But it's gonna be a crying fuckin' shame to see such a diverse array of players, characters, matches and possibilities this game has and has given us over its progression, all widdled down to who can shoot off iAGBs and NDC's the fastest.

I really like your post, but you have to realize its not just m2dave who thinks like that, its actually the majority of the people. How many people can you think of just off the top of your head that can actually make a list of buffs and nerfs for all the characters in the game with the idea in mind of real balance, and still be honest when it comes to their own? How many known or top players do you ever hear talk about wanting a real balance in this game?

Their within lies the problem with this community. Blake is a really good sonya player, but he has not traveled to tournies and experienced offline kabal on the level of the three players we have been talking about.

People shouldn't be formulating opinions on things they have yet experienced and when other top players who travel say he is a problem, his opinion holds even less weight.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is just another reason why I really felt reluctant to post in this thread. If you don't agree with the majority, your opinions automatically hold no value. It saddens me to see the community adopting a mindset that will simply bind them down in the long run.

By the way, I'm from Oklahoma and my part of the globe happens to hold two solid Kabal players (there are possibly others here, but I am not sure). I've also been to some tournies, though I will admit I haven't played any Kabal players at all in those events and I haven't been to as many as I would have liked. But even so, I would rather believe in the possibility that even an S+ tier character can be bested - offline, before you point it out - instead of just giving up all hope.

Without a doubt the one way to kill hype is to kill variety. MK9 would die from all Kabals like Tekken 4 died from all Jins. MK9 is not a super flashy game like Marvel 2 or have a deep complicated system like Street Fighter 3 to keep it going for a long time (Not to mention they existed during long period of time where there were no new fighting games). If we really do see a lot of Kabals emerging and taking top spots in tournaments people will lose interest fast. Also there is a lot of strong competition out there for MK9 and if MK9 stagnates who says they won't replace MK9 at MLG with something like Tekken Tag 2 or Skull Girls.

History has shown people will take the easiest road to win and if picking up Kabal is the easiest path to winning then that is what is going to happen eventually. I say eventually since Kabal is hard to learn which is the reason we are only now starting to see a trickle of Kabal players winning. If Kabal was easy to pick up and be effective immediately he would be everywhere just like when the game came out and nobody knew how to punish Reptile's dash which lead to a zillion Reptile's since he was easy to learn unlike the more broken Kung Lao.

I would love to be able to say MK9 was balenced to say that you were just as likely to win with Baraka as you were to win with Sonya, but I can't. MK9 is by no means balenced, but there is a point where a line needs to be drawn. How powerful is broken Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade are both examples of powerful characters, but there are answers for each of these characters. There is no answer to Kabal. It has been a long time and we have not found a for sure weakness for Kabal. The reason no weaknesses have been found is he has none. Do you really think with top players like Pig of the Hut, Tom Brady, CD Jr. as well as many others who have been looking at Kabal searching for a way to beat him for nearly a year and the best two answers I have heard is know the other player and take advantage of their quirks or wait for your opponent to mess up is messed up on a serious level.

Kabal is broken if the player has high enough execution and in the future many people shall pick him up because he is the best. The more Kabals there are the less hype MK9 shall become which could eventually lead to it being taken of MLG's roster which would be the death of the game in the arena of public opinion. Of course this is all theory what do I know.

safe 50/50 mixups, best projectiles, and a block infinite. full control anywhere on the screen. if you're not playing a character who has very specific tools to combat these, you are fucked. trying to exploit his "weaknesses" with anyone other than a very select handful of characters is essentially you hoping he fucks up a dash cancel so you can punish it (like it'll fucking matter because he'll probably have breaker).

At this point all of us should be training this matchup harder than any other. We can not, and should not, rely on a patch that we won't get or a ban that will never happen. Yeah, he's fucking broken. That's clear at the moment. If there is an answer out there to the Kabal problem we need to take it upon ourselves to find it because NRS isn't going to just hand us one. If everyone is really concerned that we are looking at Kabal Kombat and that the game will die due to lack of variety then we need to dig in and find any weakness we can. You can't always rely on some rule change or game change to take away a problem.

Hello everyone this is the one and only Kevo Da MaN and I was just reading alot of comments and just relizing people really hate kabal so imma make it one less kabal player Im going to ECT and after that i think im done with this game like my fav char is Kabal and he is the best char so imma wait till another mortal kombat comes up and play hime hopefully hes not jade tier but I want to thank alot of people in the community that not only change my life in gaming but in other places like Slips Osu 16 Bit Maxter , SwiftTomHanks , AC1984 And the most important person Pig Of The Hut. you guys are the reason why I played the game and went to majors to chill with you guys but the kabal blow up is enough and way to much for me and i cant forget the People that i have met along my journey all of GGA you guys are the most awsomest people i have ever met lol Peace everyone see you at ECT

Kanal is not godlike in this game. It's a cheapass copout to give up because he's perceived to be the best, whether you play him or hate him. People aren't bothering to learn his frame data to recognize what moves can be poked out of or escaped during pressure. This info is on this site.

I gotta ask. Why is Kabal your favorite MK character out of the whole MK universe? In mk9 he was tossed like a ragdoll by Reptile and burned to a crisp immediately. Stryker had to do the dirty work for fuck sakes lol.

On a serious note, I hate Kabal with a passion, but quitting because others dislike your character is extreme. Just make us hate him more and keep the forums alive lol.
