Has NRS silenced the Mortal Kombat 1 critics?

It is a pleasure to have you on this forum @Eddy Wang and I think what you're working on could be as big as sonic mania. I agree Tom Brady is basically brilliant but also very emotional. His accent, his knowledgable observations, and his low patience for B.S. make him a good presenter - he's just got to avoid falling on that sword for the thousandth time. I want for his trajectory to be like Aris / Avoiding the Puddle. Maybe Tom should smile or laugh a little bit more and play other games. I agree with most of Brady's opinions on the game/NRS in general. I willfully tune out any old drama thats brought up here. Honestly Brady reminds me of Aris because they both are of the same generation, which is the same as me. I like that type of editorial voice out there, I just wish Brady was hyper fixated on a better game series lol One that would actually improve based on critical observations

I'm basically repeating things I've said in the prior to messages, but Tom fans seem to be burdened with a doozy of a victim complex and project what they want onto a reply, so third time's the charm. I'm not judging Tom, I'm judging you.

The little amount of times tom posted here about mk1, vulgar was there in the replies 99.9% of the time with standard vulgar energy, chatting mad shit and insulting tom. Not even mentiong all the other times as well talking smack about tom and shitting on him, with other users as well in random disscussions and threada without direct replies.

So yeah nobody is dogpiling on vulgar for "defending" himself lol.

Its not that deep but im just saying its mad funny that people who hate tom to the max,spreading also missinformation, cant just hate in peace, they have to also complain about people who dont hate him and call out the facts when disscuing.

You probably noticed, every time M2dave asked whoever wants to be part of their streams and talk about the issues of MK1 in general, i always applied, even though dave said yes, for some reason, the stream never happened, that's because when i apply to the streams tom refuses to do them.

And then a few weeks later he does the stream with Dave anyway

I tried 3 times, and 3 times the same stuff happened, this last one had me thinking it was kind of a dick move, and i could at least get some explanation on why, but... no one said anything and they proceed to do the stream without at least explaining why wasn't i called or at least said "look man, we can't do the stream with you because this and that..."
I would understand, but the fact that they kept silence says a lot about personality.

So i don't think Tom gets hate because he is Tom, he may not realise this but it's stuff like this that says a lot about who you are, not that i hate Tom, but i'm a bit disappointed considering the respect i have for him and even agree to many of his points, so its possible that who knows Tom for years might have to deal with this over and over and just say "that's enough" at one point.

They were looking to have people on that heavily disagree with them and have a debate with them, to spice things up. Which is why they wanted crimson and vulgar, (crimson is an ex host with them and is major nrs white knight, and vulgar is well you know lol).

There were things i do agree and disagree with them, i'm was not there to spark controversy, but to have a reasonable discussion about the state of the game, definitely wasn't aimed at riding each others dicks for agreement.

Even if they don't think that i wouldn't be enough to have a lot od disagreement, would be at least nice to let me know, instead of keeping me in the dark and then do the podcast anyway and discuss points i also wanted to discuss on stream...

just want to piggy back this was mentioned on their podcast a lot after crimson left. And it’s true, what’s more to say? That’s why I was hoping they’d detour to talk about fan MK projects and other fighting games. MK can still be the throughline but I don’t even think the publisher or dev of MK1 have anything to share, much less us popcorn eaters on the sidelines. MK1 has finally become a static quantity and everyone including Maximillian have done their post mortems for why the game failed to catch on with the FGC.

I don’t really have any opinion of how they run their podcast I’ve worked on a few as a producer/audio editor - it is difficult to manage all your messages politely when you are producing multiple episodes at once

The hosts themselves as you’ve mentioned were reticent to continue it

However, my polemic opinion is that the people who no longer play Mortal Kombat 1 have absolutely nothing interesting or innovative to say about the game. I know that Mike and Tom are good fighting game players, but their criticism of Mortal Kombat 1 is obsolete, which is why Mike talks about "ugly girls in the FGC" while Tom focuses on "false dreams sold by the FGC", two irrelevant and fabricated topics that a total of zero mainstream content creators are discussing. My intent is not to group Eddy with Mike or Tom, but regurgitating the same criticism of the game for ten consecutive episodes was never going to be beneficial or entertaining for the audience, particularly by someone who, I presume, has not played a competitive match in a very long time because of Mortal Kombat 1's horrendous net code in Africa.

I've only ever commented on something Tom said when either:

A) He was lying about something.

B) I disagreed with something he said.

Never did I make a thread about him, or mention him in a podcast, or talk about him in a status update without tagging him, you know, all stuff he's done to me.

But keep in mind, last time we discussed on discord, we both were playing the game, and if i recall correctly, i told you i found joy in Ermac and was willing to take him further. We still have offline scenes even if very few ones, and some ppl still join to play, even if i play mostly tekken 8 for the majority of the time that i'm not working, but i see your point.

btw, you should keep going, with or without tom, the topic enough brings sparks and might even bring interest back to play the game, it did to me for a while, it might do for others, it's also good to hear while working and can make mornings easy to get to, this used to be one of my favorite things in the work days
