Imagine if the leaks are true and KP3 is cancelled and we get Meat and Mokap as our final Kameos.
I'm still not convinced that Kreate-A-Fighter isn't going to happen. Everything about all the mashed together characters throughout the story and Invasions could easily lead one to believe that that's always been what the middle Character Select spot is for.Imagine if the leaks are true and KP3 is cancelled and we get Meat and Mokap as our final Kameos.
Eh mashing together characters on the backend is one thing. Building all the interfaces and sanity checking combinations for players to interact is the majority of the work in many ways. One of your team can mash together some move on a model that just doesn't work and say "meh fuck it" and just not do it. Not an acceptable outcome for the player usually.I'm still not convinced that Kreate-A-Fighter isn't going to happen. That would be the most 3D MK thing ever if those two came along with it, in a game that also has air combos and the worst story out of the entire generation of games.
Also, the fact that 2006 was almost 20 years ago is wild.
Happening in MK1? LOL.I'm still not convinced that Kreate-A-Fighter isn't going to happen. Everything about all the mashed together characters throughout the story and Invasions could easily lead one to believe that that's always been what the middle Character Select spot is for.

You mean the same guy who said that MK1 was going to be the longest-supported MK game ever, and now we're here in this thread talking about how that's no longer the case?Happening in MK1? LOL.
Floyd, HarumI, Kombad Kodes, Kreate a Fighter, Test your A/B/C, Tag Team Mode, Mercy, Endurance, "Special suprise after Khaos Reigns", KP3, and all other things floathing on that one doc sheet datamined from day 1 and said directly by Ed Boon deffinitely not happening.
KAF is gonna stay in the past. All those mashup characters was to give in to the whole multiverse crap. MK’s quality will never bring something like that again, and if they do it’ll be some lackluster effort. People have been asking for years to bring back certain game modes, and I’ve noticed that they love to almost play with our hopes of seeing it again. Why even mention something like Chess Kombat or Motor Kombat if they’re not even interested in adding it in the first place? It’s like they know we want those modes back, and they dangle it over our heads! And MK desperately needs a new mode besides the story and fighting.I'm still not convinced that Kreate-A-Fighter isn't going to happen. The worst thing is that Invasions could've lots of quirky nodes WITH chess kombat or puzzle kombat but instead we got "kill this character while rockets fly on the screen for the millionth time" over and over and OVER again, for every mesa, in multiple seasons. Had they done TWO mesas with more diverse nodes (like the challenge tower from mk9), Invasions would've been a decent singleplayer experience.KAF is gonna stay in the past. Yuppp. I literally haven’t touched Invasions since season fucking two. I really thought this was going to be something akin to the 3D era of game modes. But yet again… fumbled. It’s so sad.The worst thing is that Invasions could've lots of quirky nodes WITH chess kombat or puzzle kombat but instead we got "kill this character while rockets fly on the screen for the millionth time" over and over and OVER again, for every mesa, in multiple seasons. The first leak mentioning Invasions also called it "something like the World of Light from Smash Bros" and that it could be scrapped altogether. Even before they had announced this mode, it was already something that could simply not ship with the game lmao"fumbled" is a good verb to use for it! In the lead up to release, I believe Polygon ran a piece saying Invasions would be like Mario Party - which is exactly what some of you are describing when you suggest adding more nodes and modes to the board. It's weird that it's in a boardgame format when there's barely any variance on the different places you land. It's like playing a boardgame like the game of LIFE but every space leads to tic tac toe, why would it need to be in a boardgame format?
It seems like they had some cool plans, but not the budget/time to execute them. Like what must have happened with warrior shrine, what we got is most likely not what they had planned. A big fumble, probably also evidence of financial types and not visionaries running the business.
In regards to a good game, in regards to a market success, or both? For those who think MK1 is a failure and that NRS is in a bad place, what do you think they should or could do for either MK1, or for the next title, that would make you label it as a success and also what would make you say that NRS is heading in a good place? Just curious to know what solutions y’all have in mind.
An actual reboot. Start at the 10th tournament. There can be retcons, but they should be either minor, or things that became canon later in the series, like Noob being Bi-Han being revealed earlier, getting Cyrax and Sektor as humans first, etc.For those who think MK1 is a failure and that NRS is in a bad place, what do you think they should or could do for either MK1, or for the next title, that would make you label it as a success and also what would make you say that NRS is heading in a good place? I reeeeallly don't think the discourse is all that divided. 90% of the public opinion is negative. You have a myopic view because you're very vocal about the minority opinion.I personally wouldn't want a return to MKX style gameplay. I found the neutral and whiff punishing to be....non-existant.
This was a popular opinion during the game's tournament life as well.
Generally, I think the movement of MK1 or MK9 with the dash canceling and the like to be more enjoyable, but that's just me.
I was thinking that after MK11 Aftermath that we'd see the Mortal Kombat tournament where The Great Kung Lao defeated Shang Tsung. Or something like that. A sort of prequel.
I think that has possibilities.
But I'd rather not see a return of blocked string into armored launcher into hard knockdown into pressure/mix that we got with some characters at the end of MKX. They did remove a lot of the armored launchers in the game, but there were characters that kept it at the cost of two bars.
Regardless of what they do, I'd love for the discourse online and general player base to not be as divided as it is now.
One can dream.
MKX? Nah lol there has been a LOTtttt of revisionist history with that game the last few months.I reeeeallly don't think the discourse is all that divided. 90% of the public opinion is negative. You have a myopic view because you're very vocal about the minority opinion.
Were pretty much as a community saying this shit sucked, please do better.
You haven't been paying attention to anything outside TYM, then.I reeeeallly don't think the discourse is all that divided. 90% of the public opinion is negative. You have a myopic view because you're very vocal about the minority opinion.

It's crazy cause I can just open any social and never see much positive about the game except the odd casual saying, "zomg I did a combo!!"
Games support is cancelled! SURPRISE!"Special suprise after Khaos Reigns"
Bro, I'm being so deadass with you.Oh no, lads, he's got an out-of-context Twitter thread and screen shots of random YouTube'ers and Redditors. You may as well have Nickopz and TrueUnderdawg on there.
Rip's Arena
CoTR
TNS
The Kolosseum
Content Creators such as Sonic Fox, Honeybee, Rewind, Tweedy, (and the people that watch those streams and YouTube highlights) etc.
Note, I did not say the game was universally loved or hated, I said it was divisive.
I could cherry pick people on this very thread, on places like YouTube and Twitter that support what I'm saying, but I don't think I'm making an especially hot take.
Unless, of course, you think "divisive" means, "an even 50/50 split between likes and dislikes."
Really?Oh no, lads, he's got an out-of-context Twitter thread and screen shots of random YouTube'ers and Redditors.
