Y'all bugging us love to see gender swaps of all the characters. Lolol this was the absolute perfect game to do it. I was hoping to play harumi, but they didn't do it. @Juggs As of right now, the Kombat Pack 2 characters can not be bought separately outside of the expansion.

We don't know that yet. It says they aren't available in a separate bundle. It's probably the same as MK11 where if you wanted to buy Sheeva RoboCop and Fujin in one package, you had to buy the full expansion. Otherwise you could buy them individually

 

It's perfectly valid to not like the genderswap Cyborgs, People have disliked and dunked on smaller details in past character designs and they'll continue to do so.

Because at the end of the day Favorite characters are favorite characters for a reason, Changing something about their design or their backstory or their personality or even who they want to bang in-story is not always going to sit well with the fans of that particular character.

Quit with the agenda shit though it ruins your arguments and turns you into crazy people.

 

I really hope it is what I think it is... as in Cyrax and Sektor are suites made out of the dead Cyborgs. As in they died, were dismantled and then turned into suits. That would be awesome.

I never said you were personally attacking people using vile language. You were involved in the back and forths and the discussion that @Nickolaidas referred to, that’s why you were tagged. If you weren’t one of the people making personal attacks, you should have just taken it as a warning not to do so. I think this is a fairly simple and fair rule to follow.

 

If you don't fuck with the guest characters I'm with you but these MK characters are on point. Listen they rewrote Takeda's backstory so you can't whine about Genderswap Sketor and Cryax....but this KP 2 just makes me want to have more MK characters. I'm kind of done with guest characters at this point even if I think Ghostface isn't a bad pick. The horror theme guest are cool but when you start adding Rambo and Robocop, you lose me quickly.

Yeah the guests this time around are a wild miss for me.

I actually rewatched Spawn's MK11 trailer yesterday and the whole time thought, damn, imagine this character in a game as loose and wild as MK1.

Bro his fucking Ex MACHINE GUNS didn't even reach half screen. It looked like he was holding sparklers. Tbh I'd hella be down with a guest redo pack. I would very happily buy Alien and Predator again

 

It seems some of you people care more about genitalia than the characters. If the character is well written and makes sense in the context of their world, then why would a gender/sex swap matter? Is this an American thing?

This expansion pack it's Mid
NRS yet again proves that they can't bank without guests, they occupy half of the DLC slots now, i'd still prefer a movie fighter or terrordome game where they can slam all these DLC guests which at this point they already have a full roster, everyone qualifies now which is over saturation of the formula, Kratos, Freddy and Predator were fine
Gender Swap characters who are already estabilished as male for the past 30 years, and the iron man esque i'm not really feeling it, they could've just make new characters for it, like Madam Bo added in would be far more interesting than this
Multiverse BS (I Hated the directio story mode and when it went the second it became a multiverse copycat of anything else, doesn't seem like its going to change either)
The only good character in this roster is Saibot, which has a weird design, but looks like MK9 noob design overall which is a good thing as MK11 noob was weird, still to be seen.
Characters can't be purchased separately, so i can't filter guests out of my roster

and finally, there is no guarantee this will play online in africa yet again, a problem that has been haunting this game since the first Beta and hasn't been solved ever since, and to top it all off the expansion costs 49.99 depending on which PS Store you purchsase from and it's being baited ass again through a pre-order trap.

The last one it's a deal breaker for me, but i'm conviced to sit it out and see how it goes, for those that purchase good luck, games are already super expensive as they are and every purchase needs to be worth the time i spent accquiring the money to buy games, that's called being a responsible adult



Positives and hopes
New content is a good thing, hopefully they don't announce they're done like they did after ultimate
Revision of the game overall on how it plays and let a few things run wilde, the uppercut unbreakable damage combo it's something i'd do earlier if i worked for NRS, that was definitely needed, hopefully more changes that promote this type of mentality are in, like adding new moves to the roster, and let it be more ergonomic, revision of the kameo system, and overall neutral of the game.
Not breaking combos without full Kameo bar like it was supposed to be would do wonders to this game as well
A good writting in the story for once, they started great with this one before they go multiverse again, the only direction they know off ever since armaggedon.

And finally, just hope they stop this mentality of shielding themselves from criticisms, like antagonizing ppl who are genuinely concerned witth the direction they take the games, turning off comments and live inside a bubble, and understand that construtive criticism overall means that whoever does it means they're genuinelly concerned for the franchise they love, these ppl in general will tell things NRS might not like, but that's what the world is about, not eveyrthing is chocolate and roses, adjustments have to be made, attending demands and retain your audience so your overall rating grows with it, i can see the potential, but gotta work more, listen more, there was a time QA team worked directly with character specialists it was great.

And also to the community, start making more guides, more essays on things you understand about the game, these things may be long and annoying for some, but a well written one gives devs huge information about how characters and game operates in a system they may not have an idea of what will turn out, the only problem is their habit of scrapping it up everytime which deletes progress of good ideas

You know what, this is actually a really good point. They have never used the same guest character more than once. Which I understand why, I imagine it’s the same reason the games aren’t legacy and always introduce new mechanics. But there’s several past guest characters that would work well in MK1 imo. Like Spawn, Alien & Predator, and Freddy & Jason. It would also be okay with me if they were instead Kameos.

Is the meta shifting in any way, shape, or form? Will there be more buffs for characters and kameos like in the last patch? The story mode expansion, the DLCs, and the animalities must involve lots of time and effort, so my expectations are low.

I think there would be considerably less backlash from returning guests if they used different versions of them like 2018 Kratos or Jason X

Yeah I’m not sure. Since as you said, all of that requires a lot of work to be put in, idk if they’re going to be worrying about balance any time soon. This is the times I wish NRS would be a bit more transparent & communicate info.

Yeah... Ghostface and T-1000 do not do much for me.... but imo Conan is the best guest we have had since MKx... maybe the best guest ever.

 

Firstly, I usually only play female characters (all my faves are in this title), I have no major issues with Sektor / Cyrax being women, but what I find disappointing is that it proves that they are unable to make impactful, standalone female characters. They are just going for someone who already has an established fanbase rather than taking a risk on developing a new character. I would have liked them to be new cyborgs instead and involve Frost in the storyline rather than a simple gender swap.

You should watch Conan the Barbarian. It's on Netflix. Peak cinema, honestly.

 

As someone who’s never had much of an interest in Cyrax and Sektor, I can honestly say I’m genuinely intrigued to try them out now. That being said, I can understand how switching them up would irritate tf out of their original fan base. If they randomly decided to make Kitana or Mileena male I would be livid.

 

Honestly, I watched the trailer a few more times and ... I'm not gonna lie, I'm getting a little warmed up. Little more hyped.

I think that Noob looks great, and like some people said (not sure if it was here or on Reddit/YouTube), I like the fact that Noob seems to have gone full on punch/kick and lost the sickle. This ultra reliance on melee weapons is getting a little old - they've been pushing this since MK4, and it's nice to see a few characters like Li Mei and Reiko focusing on punches.

I also hope that Havik will get an upgraded moveset - wouldn't have dreamt they would do it if it was MK11, but here they're adding stuff (mainly because we've been playing the beta version for a year), so I want to believe. I mean, his moveset is underwhelming, currently.

I also keep hearing that female character off-screen (Sektor?) who says 'first Shang Tsung, now this Havik?' and going on like, 'Will the threats from these titans never cease?' which could be a dumb MSheU one-liner in the style of 'I'm sick of fighting Dr Doom every Tuesday!', but it could also be a tease for the fact that Liu Kang is going to do something which will cancel/stop/unify the Multiverse into a single timeline/dimension/universe/reality whatsoever. Perhaps Havik tries to make every universe/reality occurring interacting at once (his version of a pandemonium), and the only way for Liu to counter it is to merge all realities into a single one.

Forfeiting time travel, dimensions, time guardians and whatnot.

Making the way for a 'true' reboot, so to speak.
