Whilst I'm happy for some costumes to be sexy (hey I have a fully functional libido, not my fault), what's more important is they're actually
decent in the first place. I don't care if Cassie is covered up in every costume, as long as the outfits are awesome, but the problem was hers were mostly hideous.
Who on earth came up with that revolting ribbed spacesuit with the clashing purple under-shirt that gives her the visual impression of saggy wrinkled breasts? Or the bulky spacesuit with the Mega Man cuffs and a neck brace (for which there are 20!!! colour variants)? The default skin is alright, the version with the jacket is also alright (but way too similiar), so why are the sci-fi skins so horrendous and unflattering? Then you have her workout gear which again is all so horribly unflattering in the colours, patterns and the frumpy socks. Shaar modded this skin to be in line with the MKX colour scheme and look how infinitely better this looks without even changing the clothing, by having a more vibrant colour scheme and removing the unflattering patterns. This doesn't objectify Cassie (since the clothing itself is identical anyway), it's just way more flattering and stylish:
I found all of Skarlet's skins just absolutely boring, she benefited the most from all the DLC/KL skins that were released. I don't have a single default skin equipped to her on my 5 variants: Kytinn, Kold War (very sexy without being explicit), MK2, UMK3 and MKX Comic. If they could come up with skins as varied as those as add-ons, why couldn't they give her any nice ones from the default range?
Kitana too also suffered horrendously from saminess in her range of costumes, basically everything was a near identical body-suit on the human versions. Yet in DLC/KL we got that stunning Summer Heat kimono (also very sexy without being explicit), MK2, MK3 and the human variants of the Revenant skins with lovely new hair styles. It just feels more of a moneymaking scheme when put into this perspective that Skarlet and Kitana are both so boring unless you largely start forking out for Krystals (or do a lot of grinding).
Same goes for Sonya, most of her costumes were bland as hell and barely anything that looked genuinely military. I had to pay money for the Terminator skin to get her to look how I wanted her to, which for me is how she should look by default (and in my opinion looks awesome and practical, but simple):
Call me boring, but I don't like "GI Joe cartoon military" characters where everyone gets to wear their own wacky costume to work like 80s wrestlers. If she's part of a military that clearly has a consistent uniform, let me have her
in that uniform, the same goes for anyone else in that faction (Johnny, Cassie, Jacqui and Jax - and I don't mean give them all the same default skin, I want them to look different as standard, but give them all a proper unified Special Forces skin in the available options if we want to, like how all the ninjas eventually got an MK2 skin if we want to make them consistent with one another). Instead it feels like things like the Aliens Kenner toys from the 1990s where you couldn't have the marines actually look like they did in the film (all in a single uniform, but modified slightly to be unique for the character), but you had them all in different wacky colours and outfits so children knew which character was which. Hell I rejoiced the day Ubisoft finally let me customise the team in Ghost Recon Wildlands so that I could have a squad of distinctly unique but uniformly-similar camo'd up covert commandos instead of being followed around by a band of homeless bums in clown suits.
If you're going to insist on a number of characters being part of a military, then give me the option for this:
Don't restrict it to mostly this (which is what Mortal Kombat's Special Forces tends to feel like, especially with off-brand Jax here):
Gone off on a slight tangent there, but the point I was trying to make is that they're trying so hard to be clever and come up with crazy unique designs for all the characters now that they lose sight of not only who the character is, but whether what they're wearing is remotely logical, practical or even aesthetically pleasing anymore.
yep, you have a bunch of women spitting out : "I'm a strong independent woman, and you cannot treat me as an object', and next, you see these same weird persons publicing on TikTok and Instagram their videos with bikini and shaking their asses on those stupid short videos
I assume it's not just a British thing; the current trend is for these ass-flossing gym leggins that loads of women are all wearing through town these days (I'm not even sure they're going to a gym), that don't simply accentuate each buttock but can even enhance the pelvis to an almost explicitly sexual degree. These are what many women are wearing by choice these days (though we're apparently not allowed to look, even though these pants only exist to make people look), and are undoubtedly what a character like Cassie Cage would wear in real life, but I could guarantee she wouldn't be wearing such attire if she's in the roster and gets another gym outfit in the next game. It just baffles me that you know they wouldn't feel they could embrace realism for a character who would genuinely wear such an outfit.
As I've said before, just get an actual woman to be the costume designer in the new game, what's stopping them? Then for a start it doesn't matter if she designs something, heaven forbid,
sexy for a character since that was then a woman's choice, but also, she'll mostly likely design something that actually flatters someone's figure in colours that actually compliment one another.
