Im from eu. GMTWhat time zone are you in?
@Hellbringer Your Shadow Counters and Combo Breaking was especially impressive to me. Can I ask how you worked on training that up? What's helping you to make those reads?Your defence is fantastic man; very hard to open you up. Great stuff!
That was insane when I finally broke @Hellbringer win streak with Riptor!Hey all,
Thanks again to everyone who was able to join yesterday; it was a great time!
Here's my recording of session:
The next Bi-Weekly Casual will be on Sun. Jul. 12th at 3:00 pm eastern.
Yes combo breaking is especially hard for me (a guy who bought this on release lol). Can you tell us how you trained with those?@Hellbringer Your Shadow Counters and Combo Breaking was especially impressive to me. Can I ask how you worked on training that up? What's helping you to make those reads?
Rash is another match up I do not know well. Playing against it again and again is one way to learn! That was insane when I finally broke @Hellbringer win streak with Riptor!
I am gonna be honest though, that only happened because my brother mained rash throughout S3, so I knew his options and playstyles
Some time later I can give you some pointers, and if you whatch my Riptor against @Hellbringer rash, you will notice a few patterns on how rash plays and what I did to counter themRash is another match up I do not know well. Playing against it again and again is one way to learn!
When you use medium or heavy autodoubles you can react to it, the light autodoubles i can react to it when i anticipate it but i guess its not really reacting to it, more a read.@Hellbringer Your Shadow Counters and Combo Breaking was especially impressive to me. Riptor is really annoying and i have no idea how to play against her so you should keep picking her against meSome time later I can give you some pointers, and if you whatch my Riptor against @Hellbringer rash, you will notice a few patterns on how rash plays and what I did to counter them
Light Auto-Doubles and Linkers are indeed unreactible, they're designed this way, and that's why they raise your KV Metre so quickly; they are read-only. Mediums are just on the reactible level as I recall. Heavies are indeed reactible (this is all from Infil's guide). When you use medium or heavy autodoubles you can react to it, the light autodoubles i can react to it when i anticipate it but i guess its not really reacting to it, more a read.
There are two things you can use to identify what kind of autodouble it is.
1 the visual cue, how fast they move or what sort of move they do. (if u know how the characters buttons look like u can easier look for it in autodoubles. For example jagos autodouble with medium punch he does that elbow.
2. The audio cue, heavy doubles sound much harder then light doubles.
For linkers its more tricky because the visual cue is less obvious cause linkers look almost the same but if u go in lab u can see some nuances for what different linkers they are. TJ combos heavy dp has like 3 lines flashing behind his fist where medium only has 2, u have to look for that sort of stuff. You cant really react to light linkers so thats a read you have to make.
But for autodoubles i always listen to sound combined with visual.
Heavy autodoubles are easy reactable so be carefull with them, you should use them to bait a combobreaker or when they are locked out.
It did indeed seem to me that you were less familiar with the match up. I figured it's one you'll be practicing in more detail soon!Riptor is really annoying and i have no idea how to play against her so you should keep picking her against me
Im middles aged too, i quit smoking weed tho so my reactions are abit better these days but nowadays in fighting games u have to play alot, and with playing alot your reactions become better.Light Auto-Doubles and Linkers are indeed unreactible, they're designed this way, and that's why they raise your KV Metre so quickly; they are read-only. Another interesting tell, aside from the move's visual and audio that you mentioned, is your own fighter. According to Infil's guide, you're own fighter has a different hit stun animation for lights, mediums, and heavies. If you learn your characters specific animation, that should cover you in most situation. I think that's the one I'm going to attempt to improve.
I mentioned before to you guys I'm middle aged, and the crazy thing is: I've actually found my reactions have gone down from even a few years ago. In games like StarCraft II and Mortal Kombat XL, I know for a fact I'm not reacting as fast as I used to back in, say, 2016. I'd say I've slowed down by several frames, so I'm not a dear-in-headlights, but for a fighting game we all know several frames is enough to make things a lot harder. It'll be interesting to see if I can overcome that.
@Hellbringer, for Shadow Counters, you use them more effectively than any non-tournament player I've seen. How did you practice those up?
Sadly, I don't have a mic, so no voice chat for me.Btw we can also make a lobby to use voicechat next time, makes it more fun Not sure how to do it in steam, we can maybe go on discord or something.
I've actually only played Killer Instinct in private matches, never public. Yesterday's sets got me thinking about trying public just to see where I'd measure up and to get some better practice in.Im middles aged too, i quit smoking weed tho so my reactions are abit better these days but nowadays in fighting games u have to play alot, and with playing alot your reactions become better.
I dont really have any specific thing to practise shadow counters, ppl jumping in and pushing buttons are easy shadowcounter but it comes down to knowing all characters buttons how much they hit, and not to forget you have to be ready for it, kinda like you have to be ready to AA. Jagos doubleroundhouse kick i cant do it on reaction, or not often, but when i anticipate it its much more easy.
Fair warning ranked sets people do like 50I've actually only played Killer Instinct in private matches, never public. Yesterday's sets got me thinking about trying public just to see where I'd measure up and to get some better practice in.
Nope, stuff like that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I don't take online play that seriously in any game.Fair warning ranked sets people do like 50
Ultimates then teabag you. Hopefully you have played enough halo to not get triggered by that
That was a sarcastic number. Had a sabre Wulf juggle me throughout both lifebars and ultra combo me like 3 timesNope, stuff like that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I don't take online play that seriously in any game.
Curious though, how would you do 50 Ultra's? I thought you could only interrupt/reset it once provided you have full Instinct Metre?
But again, how could he Ultra you three times when, as I understand the actual mechanics of the game, it can only be cancelled once and you need a full Instinct Metre to do it? I'm actually curious as to how this is possible? That was a sarcastic number. Had a sabre Wulf juggle me throughout both lifebars and ultra combo me like 3 times
(meant ultra not ultimate)
And that is why I'm so salty about combo assist lol. You should NOT be able to do such a thing!
You do not need a full instinct Meyer. I did it just 40 minutes ago playing Riptor who had a half filled meterBut again, how could he Ultra you three times when, as I understand the actual mechanics of the game, it can only be cancelled once and you need a full Instinct Metre to do it?
