He’s always been around for me. Nothing but Liu, scorp and sub since day 1. When they pick somebody other than those 3 I go directly into “WTF DO I DO?!” Panic mode.

Cetrions Boulder gets used legit all the time at high level play.

Unless sonic has run post patch sets with Raptor there is no way he knows what scorpion can do currently. He is the only scorpion I have seen that has mastered the reborn teleport option select. He is literally OSing raw b2, b1 and f3 into either away teleport (block), or amp teleport-combo (hit) with incredible consistency. I saw him run a set with Hayatei the other day and it was crazy to see his execution. Having raw f3, b1 and b2 be able to be 100% safe on block or a full combo on hit is a game changer. It really is a shame Raptor can't compete anymore since he became a tester... I think he might change Sonic's mind on scorpion being bottom 6.

Sonic's tier lists are interesting. I think they are almost totally based on how much fun he has with the character, or the potential for them to be fun (to him).
They're always objectively bad. But I kinda like them how they are. They give a good insight into Sonicfox, if nothing else.
When he gets bored of Jax, he'll drop down the list. When he actually plays Liu seriously for a while (if ever), he'll drop down the list.
It's a good excitement litmus test, from the perspective of a pro player. I like it.

Sonic is so weird. Respect his skills, but this shit isn't based on MU numbers or anything other than what seems good. Remember when he was going off about Shao Khan and how fucking amazing he actually was? He even mentioned that once you got the wraith out for damage buff that he became godlike....Sonic...people cant get the wraith out at lower level play, how the fuck are you getting it out?

He's not totally off base though. Hell my top 10 are: Sonya, Cetrion, Geras, Kabal, Jacqui, Kang, Baraka, Cassie, Nightwolf, and Kung Lao. Not far off.

I mean... For such a good player, his tier lists and hot takes use to be crap. He's historically the example of why not everything top players say about the game has to be taken seriously.

One has to wonder if he's just trolling or if his skill level is so damn high it carries his lack of proper character evaluation.

Being stubborn about it has costed him in the past, like when he refused to switch from patched Cryomancer against Woundcowboy (Boneshaper) and Scar (Smoke) because he wanted to prove he was good when the character was trash and basically a 3-7 against anything that had a proper neutral game.

I"m not sure but I think that's because they buffed his pokes hitstun meaning he can jail it into 12 which is a auto shimmy and is plus on block at the same time.

I’m aware of this, but it’s kinda not too much besides a strike/throw mix that most characters have.

Honestly, liu loses to a few characters IMO. And I’ve got exp vs Top players and 2000+ games played with Liu to my credit.

Liu loses to every character with a 6 frame poke- At least 5-5, I believe Sub Zero and Geras to be his worst MUs. Like people complain about, he relies on one string for a lot, and it’s straight up punishable in these MUs. As well as being plus 3 off 12 makes f4 and b1 trade if you’re frame perfect, so 12 only allows d1 making it MUCH less threatening.

Liu ALSO loses slightly to Kitana and Johnny Cage. Even when plus on block, Johnny can make Liu’s b1 mid WHIFF with his d4. Both Kitana and Johnny can make f43 whiff by stand blocking and then neutral crouching. B34 a low mid string will whiff vs both on the second hit. 343 Lius awesome flawless block string is high high mid and the first two hits randomly whiff/hit on both characters block or hit.

I believe Liu Kang to have 5 Losing Matchups, even if they aren’t terrible he still isn’t number one in the game. S Tier? Sure. No losing matchups? Y’all don’t play the character, how tf are you saying these things?
