Overlooked Variations

Y'all need to stop using SonicFox as an example for this game. SonicFox is SONIC-FUCKING-FOX! We are regular folk thats just trying to get good when hes already one of the best. Its cool to use what he does as a blueprint, but to say, "Well SonicFox does this to beat this." is not gonna go with everybody's style. Kudos to him, but i still aint using that whack ass variation.
Ok, I get what you're saying but just because it's SonicFox doesn't mean we should ignore it and assume we can't use it. I pretty much guarantee that most players don't see the true value in unbreakable combos... which that variation has.

I think you're venting more at NRS for the fact that they haven't allowed customs for tourney variations, but I'm not trying to prolong that by drawing attention to more of the game's content. That's all I'm doing, playing the game and promoting discovery in it.

edit: And I do agree with you on the customs badly needing to be allowed. If anything it's nice to at least discuss some of these moves not already in more played variations because they can be added to your custom later! ;)

Sutter Pain

Your mothers main.
@Sutter Pain has been having a lot of success with Next Gen Jacqui. Yes, she loses her cancels, but her stagger pressure is still insane. She still gets crazy damage and conversions. But now she’s got a projectile and setups. That fire DoT damage is substantial.
I got no complaints about next gen except I can't steal setups or watch other players use her for ideas.

I actually think yaas queen is better in some matchups. I switched a couple days ago to give it a fair shot and find it way more fun than digital soldier. If you see someone playing yes queen in ranked for the rest of the games lifespan it is probably me lol. I might not ever go back, but only time will tell. I guess I just figured that digital soldier was the one I should play cause that’s what everyone used. Goes to show you need to try things out for your self. I don’t think it’s the better veriation overall but it’s definently viable.

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
You're right on that one. I can see DOW being much more effective against pro zoning chars.

My bad I thought you did, must have been @MKF30 and someone else I played. I don't think the intention with that variation is pro-zoning, since the high is safe is leaves you up close to go right back into mix.
Thanks dude, appreciate the shoutout! lol. Yeah, my style is very different from most. I mean very zoney sure, but sometimes a bit random(so I've been told) but that can work as I don't want to be too predictable. lol

I've noticed most LK's use the other variation, which is fine. I can use it too a little, I just prefer Wu Shi lol. I also totally agree about Frost's variation, Frostbite being a mix between Cyrax and Cyber Sub. I said that to myself first week I saw that variation thinking, she reminds me of Cyrax a little bit with Cyber Sub mixed in. I still get a kick how she uses her head literally, pops off like a toy or something lol.

Jax's grinning and Sub's Dead of Winter I feel the same way, I thought about trying out Sub. I think that variation seems pretty solid enough to compete like his other one, just different you know? And Jax I think both his variations are annoying lol but perhaps it's cause his pokes always jail me lol at least the way you use him lol. :p

I think it is better, relying solely on an unsafe mix is a sure way to die. Honestly wether I end up choosing Thin Ice or Dead of Winter in a specific matchup is if I think slide/axe in the neutral or the threat of amp ice ball/better knockdown of cold shoulder is more useful vs the character I’m fighting.
When I play him I like cold shoulder way better.
I play Yaas Queen. ;)
Yeah but you're my battle buddy I can't delete you. XD

Jacqui might lose some combo damage and pressure when she switches to Next Gen, but she gets some pretty great setups and space control. I think it's a pretty interesting variation, and could probably do well competitively. Maybe not as well as 1st Round KO, but still solid.

On tier what would Next Gen rank. We already know her fist variations is S tier.

Yeah I agree with you on Noob. I'm going to keep labbing the ghostball because I feel like there still might be something there. It might not be worth using over DS anyway but oh well. Lol

I freaking LOVE Bone Picker. It sucks not having the high damage juggle with gutted, but that lunge is lethal.

I need to watch him using it. What I love about that DOT she gains is it can cover significant area spreading it too. She also doesn't lose her grease kick or regular strings, so she's still a mix nightmare that can do good damage without the clinch. I'm just in love with that bubble too, that shit is so unique it's insane. I know most pros will argue that "a good defense is a better offense" and trading cancels + clinch doesn't make up for preventing 1/3 damage with the risk in setup... but if you can win with it, it's useable in my book.
I’ve messed around with Next Gen. Its definitely fun and super trolly.

It's not overlooked. The JC community looked at it hard and we found it to be horrible. The sunglasses throw is a fucking joke. It's 24f, and has dick for range and is a mid that consistently whiffs. The camera is also bad. You cant use B34, or F4, and you use lose the best restand in the game.

It's objectively bad.
When was the last time JC community found something not to be horrible? Just curious

Bone Picker Baraka is good. Not as good as Marauder but still upper mid tier. Has a lot of tick throws and oki options but suffers a bit in damage and safety. I'd say Baraka is one of the better characters at having two viable variations that compliment each other.

New Era Geras is dumb, I get Infinite Warden is so good but i'm surprised more people don't play New Era. The command grab is hella fun too.

Skarlet's second variation is actually pretty solid too. She gets Reptile like forceballs and a restand for better pressure. I get why people play the other one though, parry still gets me all the time.

If Kollector was better i'd probably play the vial of sorrow one. Probably not as viable but the DoT setups are pretty fun.

Most characters only have one good variation though, they dropped the ball on a lot of variations.

I don't think JC is S tier by any means but I think a lot of mains are downplaying him for sure. Didn't KombatKiller just run that tourney with JC?
Did he do it with the Say Cheese variation? Because that is what Name was talking about. My guess is no because that variation is trash. The other JC variation is a solid mid tier character that has to work a bit harder but he can definitely work.

It was Shock Jock and damn it was a good set. He played very well.
