It just happened to me online against Johnny. I haven't tested it against the whole cast or anything.
Johnny has a super small hurtbox when he's crouch blocking, pretty much the size of a female's since he's so low and leaning backwards. Reo made a video about it, but long story short the crouch blocking hurtboxes are super jank.

I'm trying to pick up Liu. What are the whiffing issues everyone is talking about?

F43 is his best string but it's a commitment because even the F4 is two hits and can leave you open for a while if you whiff. Also I've had situations where the first hit of F4 is blocked but pushes the opponent out of range of the second hit and they can D1 you.

To add to @Mathysan post, the second hit of 12 will whiff on crouch blocking characters with a small hitbox (i.e. females and Johnny cage)

Also if Johnny high blocks f4 then crouch blocks the second hit of the string whiffs for a full combo.

Anyone have any clarification on the klassic kicks brutality? I've tried a few different timings on the input. It says input on hit and doesnt say what hit

Between the second and third hit of the nunchucks. When he goes BOP.... bopbop, its during the bopbop.

I think Cassie dictates the mu vs him. She out footsies him ,negates his wakeups, better mids
Cassie does seem like a tough one. It's ok once you get in because of her slow pokes, but hurtbox issues can make you lose your turns if you don't play it right. 12 whiffs on all crouch blocking females and Ive had b1 whiff on her on wakeup. Her b3 is hard to deal with as an AA or whiff punish tool. Sonya feels rough for the same reasons.

her low pokes are irrelevant (also her D4 is underrated). She can back walk and because Liu is stubby she don't care. Also, she counter pokes with b2 and F4

Yeah her b2 and f4 are very hard to deal with in footsies range. I specifically called out her b3 because it is probably one of the longest range whiff punish tools (and AAs) in the game and can be confirmed into amp low shot off of a single hit. Ive had several times where I wavedash between low shots midscreen and get clipped by the b3 for a full combo.

I keep coming back to Liu Kang, I guess its meant to be, but I frequently see other players in Twitch chats talking about his b1 whiffing. Can someone elaborate further on that? I went into training mode and set every character to duck/crouch block and executed a B1. It doesn't whiff on any character. You have to be right next to them for it not to whiff, because it obviously does not have the range of F4.

Anyway, are people saying there is a whiffing issue because they are too far away or what? I don't get it.

I've only encountered the b1 whiffing issue when I attempt to meaty with it. Try knocking down someone like Erron black, set him to neutral duck, and b1 when he wakes up. Should go right over him

What are the community's thoughts on his damage buff / teleport stance? It's freakin fun to use IMO, in my limited Kang use I've caused a couple rage quits lol.

The tracking on the overhead tp is very inconsistent and leaves you open for free punishes fairly often. I hope that issue gets patched eventually. It seems good aside from that but I prefer v1 in most/all matchups atm

I don’t use it unless I now the match up is zone heavy. Low fireball and parry are too good to give up without a reason. Energy parry is pretty booty.

So you can fb ex low fireball and the u3. Does this make liu bottom 5?
Definitely not. Just end the string at f43 and block and punish. Also f3333xxfireball or shaolin stance low is a preferable blockstring in many situations because there is no gap. It's especially good after you hit a d1 or if they have no defensive bar on wakeup.

Also, Ive been meaning to test whether or not f43xxhigh fireball catches the startup of fb's. I believe it starts 1 or 2 frames faster (could be wrong).
