Skarlet General Discussion Thread

Is it weird that some of the best sets I've had so far were against other Skarlets? There's something strangely honest about the spacing and zoning game that I spend playing with them the whole match.
I am with you on the Skarlet matches. They have been the most fun to fight against, I don't mind the mirror match too.

Haven't seen anyone in this thread discuss Red Rain Skarlet. I have seen Red Mist in this thread and I agree that it's amazing tool for chip damage (Something similar to Reptile in MKX) and I will admit Red Rain/Mist Skarlet is very weak up against the default Skarlets. I don't want to drop info I'm not sure about so if anyone gets the chance please try out Red Rain / Red Mist / Cell Siphon Skarlet. I'm not sure how much % shes doing but I think shes doing 5% more damage with Red Rain.

I'll be back to update and check

I think red mist would be an instant pick for every Skarlet if it didn't replace the blood tentacle. It was a smart move from NRS to make it impossible to have both tools at the same time (by the way it is not mentioned anywhere in the Kustomize option when abilities replace default moves, change this please NRS).

I don't mind losing the tentacles, so I'm good with it.

While Cell Siphon is good for the damage, it only leaves you at +7 after the restand. With the red mist, you are +17 of hit advantage, you have the opportunity to pressure with the DoT or open the opponent with b34, or even with f43 bf3 mb. I still don't know if bf3 mb is safe, but if it's the case, you can pressure with it after the restand.

I have been liking skarlet a lot so far but i feel like i have no idea at all how to handle Kabals jumping projectile. I have tried to punish it with teleport to very minor success, that may be a bit of a execution issue on my end but I feel like there should be a better answer. I have also tried to beat them at zoning with blood ball but it feels like they will mostly come out on top there. Does anyone have any good advise for how to handle it?
Teleport can punish if you make a read from mid/far, which isnt all too difficult since most kabals tend to throw more than one air projectile in succession, not going to reactively tele punish.

Up close, you can block, go in with a f43 check, this has been working best for me. F43 major in this mu from close range. If used in the neutral, kuhbawl going for upclose air toss shenanigans, will result in half the time having f43 avoiding the projectile outright as it advances. Though this at times has resulted in a dbl whiff, it still recovers quick enough that u wont get checked and rekt your own self.

Re: their straight projectile, let them throw one, then whip out a ground blood ball, Skarlet will kompletely low profile the second blade toss and he'll be forced to block from afar. Kind of annoying, but thats the option to check the burnt freak.

Any better ideas, holla at your hookup.

Okay, this is a weird description error I noticed. For Retch-Rebution, the description says that amplifying it will leave her opponent standing, but as far as I know, it leaves them standing meterlessly as well, right? Might be text from an earlier version of the move we never saw?

It does tell you when it replaces something. It's just not a pop up. The description will tell you what you need to know.

"X conflicts with Y" lets you know which move(s) get replaced or aren't usable with said move.

The description will tell you if one slot move replaces another slot move (i.e Retch replacing C. Siphon), but it won't tell you if a slot move replaces a base special move (i.e Red Mist replacing Blood Tentacle). Had to learn that the hard way when I took Red Mist for the first time lol.

The special's input is displayed, so it obviously removes the base move that has the same input.

But I thought it displayed base moves that it conflicts with, but it seems not.

Either way, the ability showing the input right there is what lets you know you're replacing whatever is normally there.

Aye, fair's fair. Yeah, once you stick with a character for long enough, you know all the inputs by heart, so it'd be easy at that point. Still, it'd be a nice QoL change to include the base specials as well for when you're learning new characters. Just as a nice way to make customization a touch more convenient. Nothing I'd lose sleep over though if they don't change it.

Skarlet at +4 can still walkback and whiff punish a lot of things in this game, so +7 she can do exactly the same , for that reason alone and the possibility of toying around with panicking people while gains health and deals tons of damage with a restand, cell siphon its always going to be superior.

A good way to use Red Rain is by having blood clot in your arsenal, since it disables 2 in 1 cancels, you can stop movement and enhance Skarlet in place with red rain and then start spaming zoning of all sorts since while you stand on it, it empowers her damage output.

Noob's saibot or noob saibot's?
Ending kombos with 44 red rain into zoning seems to be her jam at least i was having a good time

I run both red mist and cell siphon on my Skarlet anyways, so I use the most useful in the current situation.

There is no way cell siphon will remain untouched by NRS in the release build, the move seems way too strong to me right now. I expect it to be nerfed.

There is nothing wrong with it, its just easier to use. I don't expect a nerf at all.

The other ones are terrible anyways, Boiling point its among her worst specials witth the other one being blood ritual.
Thank god her base loadout is good enough and she is almost complete without any of them with a few exceptions

If i had to make a tier list of all Skarlet's equipping specials it would be:
S Tier - Dagger Dance
A+ Tier - Cell Siphon
A Tier - Red Mist, Teleport, Blood Flow(Blood ball enhance), Crimson Shield
B - Blood Clot, Red Rain, Retch Rebuition
C - Blood Ritual, Boiling Point

Having Retch and Boliling point feels a bit redundant when you have siphon, specially boiling point which is super slow
Red Mist feels like noxious reptile to me some like it most for the restand than the DOT, i personally don't like it as much as it takes away the tongue which is a key move
Red Rain its uncessary
No one will waste time with blood ritual.

So she can Heal
She can disable 2 in 1
She can chip for the sake of it
She can boost her damage
She can boost her defense

I only wish she could have something that allowed her to do chip loops like in MK9, i think this is the only thing that was so much her and she doesn't have anymore.

I agree with Dagger dance being a very good special. I picked it on every variation I made so far. It's just weird that it doesn't work against some attacks. For exemple dagger dance does not work against Kabal's Nomad Dash, why ? I should be rewarded for the read, isn't it ? I haven't tried any other character yet so I don't know if their parry are effective against Kabal's ND, but it seemed weird to me.

Blood ritual isn't useful at all, using it is a death wish.

Are u not plus 1 if u cancel it? + 34 cancel advantage vs 33 startup on bloodball? So maybe not 212 but still some sort of close up pressure and it could be useful

Is it known that if you FLB a special move that is multi-hitting, it will FLB all hits if you hold block after the one FLB??? I was practicing them, and was trying to double FLB on Baraka's fireball AMP, until I realized I FLB both fireballs after just one FLB. I wonder how this is applied on the first hit of say a 3-string?

At 1:29 and 1:37 you see it. So this would FLB all those multi hitting specials, gunshots, etc that are in the game with one successful FLB.

Well, that's interesting. Only thing left to figure out now is if you still get the FLB punish options and increased punish window as well after the multi-hitters. Since it maintained the reduced chip for both attacks, I imagine that those options would still be available.

Exactly what I'm thinking. If this applies to first hit of strings it's a game changer. If someone is abusing a string and you FLB the first hit on a read? Man I'm salivating thinking of the possibilities!

Going back to this post:
I think 124 has more pushback because my boy cant FBU2 me anymore
when my friend FBs my 124 he cannot connect the U2, but when I do it to him I connect the U2 and launch. My eyes tell me that he's inputting the U2 slightly late. More labbing needed.
