Jacqui Briggs - Second Chance for MK11

Agreed. I rewatched the MKX story last week to get refreshed before MK11, and I really see how unwarranted the hate is. Jacqui was hella cool in the story and had her place, even moreso than a couple of other Kombat Kids, or Kotal and Erron getting their ass kicked by everyone. Just blind hate.

The gameplay? All the talk about execution but Jacqui was one of the most satisfying to play. The Stanky Leg mastering, the air cancels mid combo, gauntlet cancels, etc, and the combos were some of the most hype to see visually. More blind hate.

Give me exactly the same Jacqui without the T-Rex arms and I'm set. There will be 25-35 characters for others to pick from if they don't wanna play her so I wish they would stay out of our character thread. Apparently they have a hard on for her though since the haters talk about her more than we do.

I hope and wish.

I just want that feeling of oppressiveness she had, be it zoning or rush down.

I want her to still be a pressure character.

My biggest gripe with the character was that she didn't look interesting enough to me. It had nothing to do with her race, although some people keep persisting with this idea that you must be some kind of undercover racist to be critiquing the black female in the game.


Her new look is definitely an improvement. Now we just have to wait to see her actual gameplay. Some of the concept art for her is a way better look to me. 1, 3, 4, 5 would be dope in my opinion.

First off I have nothing against Jacqui and at the same time NRS hasn’t shown me anything to care about her. Now if they gave her better personality and given her design 3 and made her like an earthrealm female ninja then I’d be down with that, since we have no female earthrealm ninja yet or any that I’m aware of. She could’ve been like the snake eyes of the special forces for earthrealm.

God.......if you're listening.......just give me the blonde hair for Jacqui from her MKX concept art.

But, honestly, I'm not surprised. I figured she would. All the females have alternate hairstyles (Which, I'm so happy for. I begged for it in Injustice 2, so I'm happy they're doing that here.)

Hopefully, they show it off during her Kombat Kast (Which I'm assuming is this week since they revealed her render.)

I'm late but yes I did and it's not incongruent... more like petty. I did play Kotal Kahn and Sonya for a bit, but I was just disappointed in Jacqui not being viable/mid-tier. I'm over thinking like that now...

From the little I've seen so far I still find her a huge "meh", but I can respect what the OP said. Let's wait for story mode.

That said though, I still think other fan bases should have given their character priority over Jaqui. Fujin, Shang Tsung and expecially Rain come to mind since they weren't in MKX.

Or Hsu Hao. Where is second chance of Hsu Hao? And what differecne between him (he was bad design character) and Jackqui (she was bad design character)?
Why she deserves redesign and Hsu Hao or Mavado is not?

I will make story for Jacqui, in 5 minutes, as i type this post:

Jax had a daughter Jacquie. He loved her so much, an did his best to protect her from his past of Mortal Kombat. Jax wanted her to live normal happy life.
But Jacquie was stubborn and joined special forces. Once on special forces task Jacquie encountered supernatural powers from anothers realms.

She could be cursed by mighty wizard/bitten by nuclear spider/dive into mystic magic source/whatever it could be/ and became cursed warrior fighting against Earth Realm. To the greatest sadness of her father Jax...

We still have black female fighting character, but with less military style, more Mortal Kombat style...

I know this is extremely unimportant, but I would have mained Supergirl in IJ2 if they would have given her long hair.

Well, there is small drama :Jaxes the deepest fears were fulfilled. His daughter participating in Mortal Kombat. In addition, she fights against Earth realm. Compare this to the just being good girl following hir fathers "legacy".

And yes, mystic/supernatural powers fits better MK in my humble opinion, than all milititary gadgets .

Also , i just made this story on the go. It possible to make Jaquei story deeper, to make players have some sort of empathy for her.

SF/Military gadgets have been a core part of the game since basically MK1. It's always been a combination of the fantastical, magical outworld with more grounded (but still technologically advanced and impossible) earthrealmers.

I totally understand that you like one side more but to ignore the other is to ignore a big part of the series.

At best, 5 out of 25 characters are "SF." And 2 of those use mystical, magic green energy to charge their moves. This idea that there is an overflow of gun users or something is just pure nonsense. I'd say the only character that is like what people are describing so far is Sonya - Jacqui's suit makes her play just the same as if she had powers.

You already have 3 Takeda variations in Scorpion, plus he might also be a Liu Kang skin now that they changed Kotal's stance.

Cool. I think her bio is fine as is though. I kind of like that punching up kind of character that she is. And I like the idea of her having an overprotective father, but then trying to overcompensate by taking on more powerful opponents, in a way to try and prove herself to her father and make her father proud. And I like the idea of her using tech to try and even the playing field. There's already a lot of magic/supernatural powers in MK, I like having some tech characters.
