Yeap. Also, it's a little too late to speculate on what they "should" do with character designs. The game is going to be released in 4 months. They already have all that shit ready.
Baraka might be one of the most extreme cases of butterfaces in fiction, but a butterface goes hand in hand with a nice body most of the time. And that's what Baraka has. Baraka is ripped out of his mind, which is again viewed as an appealing trait.I don’t want any sexy Baraka
It’s a false equivalency. One of them is portrayed as a suerhero with necessarily unrealistic superpowers. So it makes sense to have an outlandish physique that visually supports those superpowers (super strength and power).Baraka might be one of the most extreme cases of butterfaces in fiction, but a butterface goes hand in hand with a nice body most of the time. I feel like when people complain about overly sexualized female bodies in all forms of media, they tend to completely forget how ridiculously out of the norm male bodies are at the same time. Look at Captain America and Batman. They look like they've been on a diet consisting out of chicken, rice and all the steroids on the planet their entire life.
And then there is also this:
You've completely misunderstood my point. So yeah, they felt like they didn’t want to be as misleading to young girls in that role. Comparing to He Man or Colossus or something is just a sign of not truly understanding the issue.
While I agree the He-Man / Barbie example is not a very good one, I think Krankk has a point. There are plenty of crazy male depictions in comics and gaming and film. I mean look at the recent superman dude. Go google what he had to do for that and how his diet was controlled by his contract, along with daily weigh ins and measuring. It’s a false equivalency. Barbie is almost always portrayed as a model for real-world women. She’s a working girl, a mother, a doctor, a pilot, a princess. Her brand isn’t going out to fight evil aliens with superhuman strength and a giant sword (not to say that it’s never happened, but that’s not what the majority of Barbies are/were about).
yeah.. as hyper athletic fit as fuck humans all have vastly different body shapes. It is discrimination. Last time I saw the 100 meters at the Olympics everyone was tall and thin.. where were the short fat sprinters!!What I would like to see is different body shapes. It felt like all the body shapes were the same in MKX and I2
Agreed. MK9 is a cartoon. MKx the characters look like humans. Cassie and Briggs are infinitely more sexy than anything in MK9.. and Lou Kang and Cage in MKx didn't look like a upside down triangular bag of walnuts. No, I prefer the direction they were going in MKX with more realistic characters..
I meant some taller, some shorter, some with small hips, some more hourglass shaped. Thick thighs, skinny legs, broad shoulders, high shoulders... etc. I can't believe you really think that all Olympic athletes have the same body shapeWhile I agree the He-Man / Barbie example is not a very good one, I think Krankk has a point. The big difference is that it is ok for people, reporters, girls w/e to comment on the male physique while it is taboo to comment on girls. There was a interview a while back when Mera's costume was revealed for Aquaman and all this stuff happened about how sexist it was and all that. The Actress had to come out with the story that she fought to have that costume. They originally had a design kind of like armour. She wanted to have a comic accurate. When asked why she campaigned for this costume she said she wanted comic accuracy and talked about how her co star was in the Gym everyday, starving himself and stuff to make himself physically match the character and she felt that was her job as well.
Is the 2nd shot sexist? Or just fucking awesome.
What I am getting at here is that unrealistic depictions hit all of us. It isn't a bad thing for a girl to be depicted as sexy. Every girl I ever spoke to loves feeling sexy. Just take 20 seconds at evo to see all the girls in costume. It isn't bad to show men who are fit and hyper masculine. Most men I know would kill to loose that fucking gut and love handles. Lets be honest everyone, not matter there sexual preferences likes looking at attractive people.
MK is fantasy game about the greatest physical specimens in reality, who compete in a battle of physical prowess.... I mean what would you expect those people to look like?
These guys?

I can't believe you think that is what I said. Try reading it again.. this time a little slower. I'm sure you will get it on the 2nd pass.I can't believe you really think that all Olympic athletes have the same body shape
Your post that I replied to read sarcastic af. Point is, the characters would look better if they weren't exact copies but with different faces and clothing on them.I can't believe you think that is what I said. Pure goldI swear I always thought you were a major idiot, but that was mainly through your opinions on gaming. Now, I just found out that you're just a fucking moron in general.
