RE’s are so weird. They seem super good. Like this one dude kept spamming them and I couldn’t figure out how to beat the initial attack outright other than quick multi hitting attacks. But I did figure out during the animation where you both charge each other you can side step and punish if they do an attack that is... I guess “straight”. Like an attack that doesn’t go around them but straight out, you can side step and punish. Regardless, they seem like a pretty strong universal move. FloE on twitter basically said they’re like super dashes in DBFZ. As in they are technically counterable but still super strong. Because you have to worry about a bunch of stuff during the match.

got my first rage quit. DBFZ has taught me patience. I know enjoy my space and will not relinquish it foolishly. Can Kiliks CE be ducked. I tried side stepping to no avail.

the input to dodge is kinda of weird for me I have to mash. it's not like you can react anyways. it seems side stepping you have to confirm into something. I just try not to get hit vertically it does far more damage

Well after the “clash” animation you can side step during the animation. It’s a read really, you have to commit to side stepping as soon as the clash happens. It’s a very strange mechanic though, the entire RE system seems odd to me. Idk if it’s new or been a thing in Soul Calibur, but it seems abusable. That said, hard to tell in a network beta where nothing can be tested, so we will see.

I've only had a few one & doners, most people are rematching.

I tried Yoshi out and he's fun, I wasn't even doing any good shit. How do you do the move where he spins his sword?

Its Up B+K. Its dope for oki mixups
That wasn't the move I was talking about but that helicopter move is sick thanks. I found the move I was looking for its D+F B. I also found walking back - B+K does a roll forward stab move that does lots of damage. It's a good punisher.

Man Yoshi is so sick in this. Looking like my secondary so far.

Nightmare is OP as fuck in this game. Crazy normals, crazy range, and crazy damage with his attacks converting into throws. Ridiculous.

I wish the game has wi-fi indicator as Injustice 2. You don't know who to blame for connection issues. The quality of online matches today and yesterday is a mixed bag. I could have flawless connection vs US players and terrible vs players from Russia, Germany and France (I am from Poland).

Also filtering players on PS4 works really bad. If I dare to set for 4+ bars only I can wait forever. But If I set any I find oponnents really fast and they often shows as 4+ bars anyway.

I don't think I will be playing beta more today, since I have a ton of shit to do. But for now it's a sure buy for me. I still don't know If I should get it for PC or PS4. I will probably wait for release and check opinions about netcode quality for both platforms.

So nightmares ce is just gonna be one of those moves that will always hit me throughout the life of the game. That thing catches sidestep, auto gi's, and can be unlockable.

For you guys having trouble stepping REs and verts, just step up/down and 8wr with it. Vs REs, you’ll notice a distinguishable flash and the character will draw back for a few frames. As soon as you see that, step and 8wr up/down and punish as it whiffs. The fastest REs may tag you but if the opponent holds it at all, you’ll walk right around them. Doing an RE is a commitment. Once you see the flash, it’s coming.

Or you can use the breaker attacks every character has. Probably not on reaction though.

After the clash connects the rock/paper/scissor game goes......

Horizontals beat kicks and sidesteps
Verticals beat horizontals and backsteps, forward dashes, and guard if there’s a 2nd clash
Kicks beat verticals
Sidesteps beat verticals and some kicks
Guard blocks everything on the first clash but gets broken by verticals on the 2nd clash

I think you can GI on clash too. Not sure how that goes.
