Whos looking good for you guys right now?

Croatia england spain portugal.. maybbeee belgium (not in any order)

Croatia has a really good squad and are on form, england has kane and are on form though they havent been tested really, ronaldo is ronaldo, belgium also solid team, pretty good form, spain v good team.. lackluster form tho
On performances so far Croatia have probably been the best. Spain have been freely scoring but look quite vulnerable this time around. England and Belgium have played really well but there could be a case of overhype due to their opposition (see Russia). However, both teams I believe have had good build ups to the WC so it might be both teams are just the most consistent.

Can't count out Portugal due to Ronaldo but I feel he will have a torrid time against that Uruguay defence. If they pass that test then anything can happen for them. Hoping Senegal get out of the group but have little faith.

I'd say none of the favorites has played an amazing game yet, but out of the teams we have so far I think the most solid are Uruguay and Brazil. They are not destroying the opposition or anything but it seems very hard to score against them and they have a very dangerous offense.

Yooooooo, we're still in, baby! Wooooo

And Neymar FINALLY decided to play like a teamplayer and not like a douche. The team is looking good now!

But the downside of it all is that we're going up against Mexico. Goddammit, why? I was so happy for them when they won their first two games and basically confirmed their spot in the knockout stage, now I have to cheer against them? Sadboysonly :(

You know whats crazy.

Heard ronaldo had clocked the fastest speed run in the WC so far. He's 33. What the shit.

I know it's Ronaldo and everything but you wouldn't expect a 33 to be gassing everyone.

He's been the fastest player in the world for a few years until like a couple of years ago. And 2nd fastest with the ball behind Messi. He's FAST

Just baffling. You cant really not give ronaldo props, you really have to put in some crazy work to out preform much younger players on a physical level. The guys a gazelle in the air as well, impossible to mark on crosses cause he can jump about 5 feet in the air.

I'm used to seeing him jump like twice the height of other players from a running start to head the ball, but yesterday I saw when he was in a wall in front of a freekick and he jumped a ridiculous height from a stand-still. It's fucking nuts.

Makes me feel like a lot of other footballers would be better if they put the work in. That guy eat sleeps and shits football. I would imagine ronaldo has had to do a lot of jump training which most strikers probably dont do.

Its pretty interesting the crossover with other sports you find. Theres a couple of really good players who all do kickboxing.. pogba is one i think

In rugby you find theres players who used to play aussie rules or gaelic football and they just do completely mad shit that no other players do. (i'll shut up about that tho cos nobody on this site gives a fuck about rugby lol)

20 years ago, the wife had a soccer coach in highschool tell her that she should look into a athletics scholarship at the university she was applying for (nothing much going on for soccer in that school). She ended up the top sprinter during the 4 yrs of undergrad in her alma mater with almost a full-schol. The thought would have probably never occurred to her if her coach hadn't told her!

That first paragraph is pretty apt. Ronaldo seems to put in the work in areas that either other players don't do or are very tedious and boring. Who knows how many jumps, free kicks, sprints etc he does on a daily basis to keep himself at an elite level.

Not passing judgment on other pros but I remember Shannon Sharpe saying something like 'just because you do things out of habit it doesn't mean that you're working hard'. Since hearing that I believe that is what seperates the goods from the greats.

Out of all the teams in this cup I didn't expect that posture from Japan. It's part of the game but it feels really disrespectful towards the public.

I feel sorry for all those people who paid for their trips and tickets to watch this ENG-BEL game. I think FIFA should implement a drawing of teams once the group stage is done, to avoid absurd matches like this one, where neither team wants to win. Group winners should be placed into one pot and runner-ups in the other, and then the teams should be drawn for the round of last 16.

It will be interesting to see if anyone dares to score an ''unintentional'' auto-goal. If that happens, major drama could ensure.

Or maybe they'll just go for red cards instead lol. :D
