People really like mashing r2 online holy shit, i was having fun until i started playing randoms lol.
It seems like most people don’t punish it well or consistently yet so they go ham with it. Even though I know how to counter it I gotta admit that I’ll get hit by it more often than not because in my mind it doesn’t make sense for them to repeat it 37 times in a row. I end up mixing myself up for giving them too much credit and thinking that they might try something different.

Yup its annoying, def the worst part of the game in my opinion.

Sitting the lab for hours when you don’t know what to lab is not going over so well. I’ve never labbed an anime fighter so all I’m practicing are combos, setups, assist opportunities, etc.

How many j.c repetitions can you get in one combo? I can only get 2 j.c’s, the initial one OTG then once in the air. Is that the limit?
I wanna say there is a limit, because i keep trying to repeat in different set ups. But you can only have 1 jc in each combo up to a total of....i wanna say only once. Like if you do a regular jc combo then do a launch for another combo, it wont allow you to do another jc combo because it will drop. I could be wrong...but that seems like the overall formula to most characters.

21 is....different....I wanna feel her, but shes hella awkward to play in my play style and relies heavily on stealing attacks. She's very interesting but daaaaamn its gonna take ALOOOOOOT of time to really figure out where she places on any team.

The R2 homing move is what I was talking about.
Gotcha. Yeah, i haven't really touched online last night. Was actually very tired and just messed with the combo challenges and playing 21.

But yeah, thats expected, but thats actually good practice on figuring out the timing to punish with down heavy. (Still dont know the notation shits)

ALSO you can actually punish a super dash with simply mashing light attack. But its definitely more rewarding doing down heavy for a full combo.

To keep it ALL THE WAY LIVE, has anybody kinda felt lost as in what to try? I mean, there's SOOOOOO MANY awesome things in this game, i kinda get overwhelmed on what to do, who to try, etc etc. That i just...get too tired. Maybe it was the fact i was just feeling fatigued yesterday or just kinda dissapointed about Android 21

Yeah I know how to deal with it, just feels like the neutral game would be so much better without it.

I feel u. It does limit the special moves each character has to just basic super dash punish, combo, super combo and repeat.

But at least you know thats part of the game. Now the next step is learning how to fuck em in the corner so they cannot escape ;)

Reflect is really fucking strong. It just shuts down pressure entirely. You really need command grabs or cross ups to get through it. I think SSGSS Goku and another character or two are going to go under the radar for a while until people's pressure get tighter, Reflects start being a more important option, and then the strike / throw mix-up becomes a lot more critical. Just my opinions on where the game will eventually get to.

Cross-ups can reverse the reflect input too which I think might be another key way of opening people up.

Thanks! I need to practice that.

So I got to play some Freiza during story mode, and boy is he super fun. His level one death ball is so satisfying to hit. What position do you all think Freiza's is designed to be? From my very limited experience, it looks like he makes a good middle or anchor character.

I can't stop playing this game! The last time I was into a fighting game as much as this was MvC3.
I think Frieza can really fit any role you want, but I'm probably going to make him mid on the team I tie him with. Gives you a chance to get meter for Golden Frieza and you get his baller as fuck assist.

Does anyone know how do I check what moves are plus and negative? I'm setting the CPU to jump but they jump too fast for me to time it correctly and get an accurate idea of what the move is.

Yeah i was testing reflect like night. It’s really strong and not utilized yet.

Wait, so what's the consensus on Frieza's assist? Is it that good?
its lightning fast and has a massive hitbox, cant be dashed through, and launches them, so its great for controlling a lot of the screen, and turning fullscreen hitconfirms into combos without needing to waste your vanish, and likely has plenty of use in combos too. However its got a deadzone up close where there is no hitbox, so its sort of useless for pressure. It's a great assist though. Just make sure you understand why it's good before picking Frieza for your team.

Easiest way to instant air dash (iAD) is 7+8/9+8 into 4/6. So up+forward, forward. The super dash shortcut will mess you up sometimes and accidentally get the actual super dash instead.

iAD into H is great. I know this is basic info but for anime noobs these basic things are huge. Gotta get them fundamentals down.

doing it in practice mode is one thing applying it in a match takes a bit longer but i am getting used to it. Really fun mechanic though when used with a block string and a good assist.

Yeah especially against scrubs who will just randomly throw out super dash and catch you mid air dash. But that’s what assist are for, at least one of their uses. To cover you while you get in/iAD.
