I
I still need to figure the game out: how to play the neutral, when to dragon rush, how to punish a dragon rush, what to do when someone is just pressing buttons, etc.
EDIT: One of the things that is getting me killed online is not being able to raw tag when needed. You're supposed hold the assist button, right?
Yeah you can hold it or press forward+assist, but if your assist is on cooldown (the portrait is blacked out) you can't switch till it's back to full. Some other things can lead to you being not allowed to switch immediately (portrait will have a big X on it) so keep an eye on those if you're trying to switch.
Down+heavy universally are fully invincible to airborne attacks, so if someone is doing super dashes like a moron down heavy that shit for a full combo.
For people pressing buttons if it's in neutral using a beam, airdash into heavy or super dash is good, or simply block and call your assist to fuck them up, if it's during your pressure try staggering to frametrap, like say do light light (autocombo 2nd hit) then delayed crouch medium. Experiment for whatever works with your character but the staggers are good to give them room to try to press a button or jump and get bopped.
Np man! Vegeta is a really good starter because he has all the tools for every situation, good combo potential, and easy execution. Him and Goku are very good to start off just so you can feel out the basics of the games as far as moving from auto combos to manual combos. And that new COMBO CHALLENGE mode they have for each character is PERFECT for you to feel out each character. Easy to complete, get a basic knowledge of game mechanics, and you get Zeni for each completion
Vegeta is a good beginner character just make sure he's last. He's a waste up front, he uses meter too well to not be in the back and his assist is way too good. Anchor is definitely his best spot.
Goku is best in the middle to have some meter to burn, he doesn't need it but he's way better with it and he's the only character atm that can combo super into super solo without any assists so he can get big damage easy.
Crap, I thought the super dash was named Dragon Rush. People are lower levels love to abuse the dash button. It looks like some 2Hs also punish it, but I need to learn that timing. For some reason Yamcha can also punish them on block with wolf gang fist, I thought the super dashes were supposed to plus?
Man I need some frame data, haha. Thanks for the suggestions!
Super dashes can be punished before they connect by down heavy or a lvl1 super early and lvl3s even late. There's also lots of moves that can't be super dashes through ie kamehameha, frieza stand heavy, kienzan etc.
you can set the training dummy to spam super dash to practice what works and what doesn't.
On block they are neutral so you can't punish them afaik, plus the opponent has all their options after it's blocked so they can jump or airdash away, hit buttons, do a super etc.
Also during sparking super dash can be cancelled into normals so if you block it you gotta hold whatever comes after making it even more annoying.
