Favorite Fighting Game Music

Apparently, we all know music is an important part of any fighting game. From Morrigan's theme, to Mortal Kombat's Original ICONIC intro track, music is the icing on the cake of presentation.

My question is...in your opinion what fighting game you feel has really good (if not the best) music soundtrack? Either singular from a fighting game, or the whole fighting game soundtracks.

MK2 select screen track on Genesis <3

Complete game soundtrack? Toss up between MK1, MK2 and MKD. Probably have to give it to MK2 though because nostalgia 10-0's me.

Even though I am incredibly biased for the MK1, MK2 and UMK3/MKT soundtracks the answer is Killer Instinct (2013).

And no, not the best fighting game OST of this generation, or even the best of the 2000s.

It is the best fighting game OST of all time...IMO.

This. As much as I love the classic MK and even some 3D era tracks, KI3 is the best. I love the original KI's soundtracks as well though.

if i have to pick a mortal kombat game song would be the intro to mortal kombat 2 on genesis them drums yup. but as far as video games the sonic the hedgehog songs 123. oh and all the street fighter 2 songs lol.

DAMN! Thats the only Killer Instinct i did not play, but in the previous ones, I LOOOOOOVED Orchid's music!

It's amazing man but sadly it's pretty much dead. KI apparently was never really as popular as SF or MK, then it was kind of MIA for over a decade, then it was exclusive to XB1 which wasn't really the fighting game console of this gen plus it launched with a very small roster etc. I feel like it just had so much going against it but it's a shame because it is a fantastic fighting game, and the music is just the icing on the cake.

If you are ever bored and have some free time I highly recommend listening to it, there are some that aren't as good as the others but I feel like most of the music is just so well done and fitting for the characters/stages. A lot of it is music you can just listen to, like anytime lol

The originals are great too! I actually bought that Killer Cuts vinyl re-release they came out with last year with the Fulgore cover...and I don't even have a way to play vinyl records lol

However, as a slightly more obscure option, Anarchy Reigns. Super cool underground hip hop soundtrack. Nothing but hype.

Guilty Gear had that hard rock music which fit the overall animations they presented. And of course, with Ino represented as the boss with that guitar, it was fitting. LOVE her btw

Speaking of hip hop, Street Fighter 3 had an urban hip hop, jazz feel to it. I really liked that direction.

i should have scroll up sonner lol yeah you beat me to it but great minds do think alike i played the fuck outta that game. i tried to get into mvc3 but when i bought umvc3 came out and i was stuck plus i didnt like the design type at first. but anywho super mario bros songs and sonic songs are songs that take me back lol. fighting game music hasnt been hitting lately lol
