SFV is a weird game. I've never played it and everyone tells me not to bother playing it, but everyone plays it. I go to my Local FGC scene and there's only 1 Inj 2 set up and about 5 SFV set ups but no one ever seems to enjoy playing it, but they're playing it. I usually form my own opinions, but as someone who didn't have interest in SFV and everyone is telling me it sucks, I'm not paying for a product I'm not going to like.

On the other end of the "point" of this thread I feel the opposite about Inj2. I love playing the game, but I think it can be pretty boring to watch.

So you just jump from character to character depending on if they're deemed top tier or not?

I love playing Inj2 and watching it. As I said earlier i haven't played SF sense the 90s but i do watch it from time to time...btw wth is Blanka in that game lol
 
People hate sfv for a lot of reasons. Some more valid than others. Still the only SF around so it's gonna get play because at it's core it still feels like SF, and that's enough usually.

Its not that I don't like watching it, but I think certain characters are boring to watch, Viennality was mostly hype to watch, but I was more invested watching Bane vs Supergirl, than Black Adam vs Superman.

I don't and never will get paid to play a fighting game and I am still playing SFV.

Maybe it's because I never really played a SF before but V is fun for me. I know people say it's not but it feels more honest than most other fighters out right now. It's why I don't get salty playing it, because when I lose I honestly feel like I just got outplayed, rather than outcheesed.

Is a very bad game imo.

SF4 had major flaws too but I liked & played it for many years. I just don't enjoy playing or watching SFV.

Anyway, I happen to really like playing SFV. The mechanics are solid in my opinion. I would like the V triggers to be more varied and more obvious as to what they do. I love playing as Laura. Her shenanigans are so fun to pull off!

I think the initial hate stems from the release of the game. It was so gimped that I was ready to delete the game. But as time went on, it was improved. What I do not like are the many micro transactions for all the content that they initially said could be bought with fight money. The renigging on promises really irks me but it does not change the play mechanics of this solid fighting game.

I agree and the game is really fun. Just to piggy back of it when I said additional mechanics, like add more to defense and options to choose between V-skill and V-trigger. More Old School characters and everyone will be happy.

I do think most of the hate game from the release and it's more trolling now. You can tell with how things came about and the comments in EH to how the game has improved and they are just trolling.

every time you guys shit on a game by over simplifying it you're literally not saying anything. the people who just like to hate on the game will agree and those who like the game will disagree. everyone else who knows shit about the game just looks at you like bruh stahp
But Im not simplyfying it at all, that's actually all there is to it, the characters who are better at getting knockdowns, better mixups and better crush counters are the highest on the tier list.

Ya'll not explaining why people dislike it. First off the priority system is fucked. They made a counterhit system in which a heavier attack beat out a lighter attack when they were both active and touching, meaning a hk would beat a mk. To compliment this poor choice most heavy attacks grant a crush counter, which is a crumple state that grants a giant damaging combo. The implications are that the neutral feels like you're fishing for a crush counter because you can't throw out other buttons in footsie range. Jump back os no longer works, so a great multi-layered defensive tool was done away with. That means that the options defensively are to crouch tech, which gets blown the fuck up by shimmy and just block which gets thrown. Throws often loop back into throws in the corner. There are no deadshot mb wakeups where you get to stand up. Also, whiffed normals don't hang around very lomg so whiff punishing is only done by few players with disgusting reactions like momochi and punk. It's just pretty boring to play. It feels very, very, very flo charty, and the reason that offense is more annoying than an nrs offense is because normals recover so quickly nearly every block string can turn into an unreactable tick throw essentially. Normals probably need to whiff longer, there needs to be more blockstun so people aren't tick throwing everything, the priority system needs a fix and the game needs more depth in general.

You clearly don't know ANYTHING about the game. Crouch teching has never been a thing in sfv. Just like mechanically it's not possible. It's possible that that's why you're getting blown up.

But yes please continue to explain the game.

i still wanna get into it but i need people to play against.
Imo limited defensive options(also an over abundance of anti fireball moves) and a little too much input delay to consistently whiff punish anything other than big buttons, causes the game to be realllllly momentum based after someone gets going. I'd like to see crouch teching come back and some more invincibility on backdashes.
