Ranked isn't about learning to play the game it's just about winning. You shouldn't go in thinking it'll help you improve outside of your own mental performance issues and not looking for whatever imaginary code of ethics you follow when playing fighting games lul

either you win or you don't there's no participation trophies or extra points for antiairing x amount of times


That being said, the netcode, loading,matchmaking, and points distribution all need an overhaul and they would benefit adding cosmetic incentives for higher ranked players

How do I enforce pressure as Akuma. Dudes normals are either hella stubby or minus
Patience. Play him very defensively and wait for them to screw up and either jump and give you a knockdown or get hit by a counter poke.

Unless they don't know how to deal with air fireballs, in which case you can go ham.

Edit: Whats with all these players that just give up mid match?
Do you know if there's anyway to make the ex shoulder plus on block? I was labbing his shoulders and it seemed like the only one which can be made plus is the hk shoulder (from ~3/4 screen it hits quite meaty and becomes plus 1). In all other cases it seems like all characters should just mash their fastest button after and they're fine.

assuming you mean the tackles yes. They can be plus on block if they hit meaty enough. Lk can go up to 0, mk and hk can be up to +1, and ex could be up to +2. It's probably unrealistic to be able to do it consistently though, that's a hard move to space from full screen with no possibility of a setup. Maybe could do a close range setup on a knockdown but not sure why you'd ever wanna do that.

Just looking at characters that V-trigger cancel their fireball and they have so much advantage on hit they can forward dash and hit you with heavies, Balrog throws out his overhead and cancels to be plus, Akuma v-trigger cancels ex red fireball and he is so plus it jails into jump-ins


Juri V-triggers cancels things to be at frame disadvantage. On hit if they're too far away your V-trigger combo is sweep. Balance and diversity

Cr.hp is like +3 and has reasonable range. Use your fireballs intelligentlt as well, throwing from that kind of dead zone where they can't react to them.. to measure it out, you want to be ABOUT st.rh away, a tad further.

Look for ways to use st.hp to whiff punish from outside, you can hit confirm it into itself for the TC.

Vskill + P has decent range and speed too. Vskill is a parry. Use this to absorb and punish long range normals they like to spam.

If you can get in enough to make them block a cr.mp you can start trying demon flip cancels and see how they do.

Air fireballs can be a problem for some characters.

Back way up and start throwing fireballs, normal and reds and make them deal with zoning.

Raw demon flips if you read them trying specific normls, you can cancel them in to dive kicks and such.

F.fp avoids lows and such, so if they are trying to low poke you on approach and you read it, f.fp over. It's safe too.

I've finally caved and started fucking with Laura. Making the swap from ryu/Mika to akuma/Laura. Needed a character for Akumas weak matchups and Laura seems to fit the bill.

Oh and before Myles says shit I'm fully aware that the only reason I'm picking Laura is to win. I like her playstyle but hate her character design.

Who cares what anyone else says. Play to win that is my motto these days. If I find even the least amount of enjoyment and a character I will play the most broken version that I can possibly find. The only reason that I am not playing Urien right now is that he takes a while to properly learn and I am just taking my time with him in the lab whenever I get bored.

Laura looks like an absolute monster this season. The way she can delete a health bar off of one mix up is pretty crazy. And though I don't understand the intricacies of playing her it seems like she gets Mix-Ups off almost everything she does, or if not a little mix-up it is still a small guessing game and if you guess wrong it leads to a very great deal of damage stun and more of her horseshit.

i thought about Urien, but I don't like him. Personality wise I find Laura slightly more tolerable. If only because she doesn't have one.

That being said I do think Urien is the "right" pick for the tier monsters this season.

I have been playing Rashid on the side, I don't know if he covers akuma's bad matchups or not but he's a lot of fun and by all accounts this season will be a very strong character. I have heard some pros whisper that he maybe top 10

I wish I could learn Dhalsim, he'd just be a blast to turn loose some times. I've thought about putting some time in to him but he's likely beyond my ability to play.

Are you trying to make sense of Juri spending meter and V-trigger to be 0 on block when Akuma does the same thing and is over +40
