Street Fighter V General Discussion

@MylesWright_

I'll be back 3ing
Most meaties target the 3rd frame of your wake-up so you can still meterless dp out. If your on top of like a F.A.N.G poison trap that will hit the 1st frame of both wake-ups and you don't have meter, you just have to *Gasp* hold it

The last thing you did in Season 1 was actually block. Too early to see whether Season 2 will be the same case

It's still just better than wake up jab so unless you think wake up jab is going away I dunno how you think dps are. They're worse, sure, but people are still gonna use em.
I see wakeup jab mostly on grounded opponents. AA jab is different, obviously. I still think that we're gonna see the meta move more toward tech rolls, quick recover and delayed stand.

My first impression of Akuma is that he has good oki and solid pressure, but his neutral could be better. I don't see a defining poke game with Akuma other than throwing cr. mp and hoping it hit-confirms into st.mk xx tatsu. His air fireball is decent for pressure but you really have to angle it properly as you can be punished on landing.

My gut tells me he will struggle long-term versus good footsie characters and characters with fast speed. Cammy and Chun-Li come to mind as potentially bad matchups. I could also see Zangief being a scary matchup due to Akuma's limited zoning options and 'Gief's V-trigger sucking in teleport.

I don't know, I still think people are going to wake-up shoryuken meterless. But it's s bigger risk now absolutely. The talk about wakeup srk I can see both points, if landed it was unfair that only a couple had it, if baited that cost you the round, match,EVO, so I don't know man.

I feel like he's more aggressive than your normal Shoto. He is dependent on being in your face more than not. He wants to apply his pressure as fast as he can and get that damage out. His low health and stubby normals combined with his high damage and solid pressure tools scream this to me.

More aggressive than Ken?

I think he's gotta be more aggressive than Ken(not that kens can't or won't play full aggro )akuma just has too little hp to sit back and play a footsie/trade pokes type game(he can do it it's just way riskier). If he gets in he HAS to capitalize on it whereas ken can get in and get out if he feels like it since he's always got the dmg and pokes to trade in neutral.

Akuma in trigger is a different story though.

It's funny, I was just going to say something similar. Well said!

I agree about his footsies. I was in training mode playing against CPU Urien and there didn't seem to be a button I could push that could compete with any of his.Turns out I had to zone him more often then not and go in with air fireballs for offense. Sometimes parry into the launching kick would work to but that's risky. It's day one though, so I'm probably missing something about his neutral.

His buttons do seem to have slightly deceptive range and pretty good priority. Also his f hp can hop fireballs which is pretty cool.

Was just told for a Christmas present from the Wife, that I'm getting this.

Anyone here have a Hori fight stick as well? Heard they are really good products.
They're good. The hayabusa stick/buttons are a little bit tighter than Sanwas so you won't get accidental inputs/button presses, but you do have to be a little more forceful with it.

I don't understand the throw loop nerf, after I throw or get thrown my opponent is still on top of me as I'm getting up, and he can still choose to either go for the throw, meaty, bait, etc.

I've found that his best buttons are st.MP and cr.MP for range and startup. st.HP has probably the best range but there's not much you can do with it unless you have v-trigger stocked. cr.HP has the most reward but it seems pretty slow and actually has less range than st.MP.

what about using st hk like walking back and forth moving out and in of range of your opponents best poke then using it
