Question - Cyber Sub-Zero Ever Get That Feeling of Deja Vu? TYM hasn't learned

Actually you can back dash it unless it's really high net. Period you have no idea what your talking abut have you even played him uet
The 200% reset is designed to have a really high net, and like I said before, the people labbing this stuff tell you themselves that backash gets caught by the combo string anyways. I don't have to know what I'm talking about when there's a whole thread of people who do putting this information into the world.

Hiya fam, as the title suggests, I would like to ask you fellow forum goers if you ever get a feeling of deja vu when TYM attempts to talk about meaningful character balance so early in the launch cycle. For myself, this feeling struck me upon perusing the forums these past two days.

Apparently a well respected hotshot decided to post some tech on a brand new ice-based Lin-Kuei character. His main gimmick is that he has very strong trap based setplay in the corner that is very ambiguous for his opponent. For the most part, after a "hardknockdown" he can deploy an ice based trap for mixups or armor breaking purposes.

Naturally, such a strong and unique playstyle will frighten players, and likewise there was much screaming for nerfs. These nerfs are justified because of 12 total minutes of lab footage not based on any real matchup experience or tournament setting. As a matter of fact, 90% of the people asking for nerfs haven't actually fully labbed the setups.

What does this remind you of, TYM?

What can we do to stop it from happening again? How long until Sonic Fox complains about this character on Twitter and gets him nerfed for sure (while simultaneously maining other dumb characters for us to complain about later)? Was Tom Brady right about us all along?

Discuss.
shh child game is and has been as balanced as britney spears weight every patch

Plus on block.
Learn how to block his hard to blockables. Cyrax doesn't need a nerf at all.
Hard to blockables in this game aren't a thing you learn to block.

They're basically the worst kind of 50/50 possible.

It's not "is he gonna do overhead, or low?" it's "he's gonna do overhead AND low at the same time and I have absolutely no idea which one will hit first because the gap between them is minuscule and completely up to my opponent"

Yeah, CSZ has some filth but fuck Cyrax.

Shhhhhhhh.

He's not that good, don't go giving people the wrong idea.
People wanna keep mentioning the wrong characters and I'll keep reminding them that Sonic is laughing his way to the bank calling Butcher LF broken as hell. Like when Batgirl was supposedly "upper mid tier" at first and Sonic was calling her the best. How'd that story end?

TYM man, they'll never get it.

I use Pyro tanya, a variation pretty easy to beat, it has almost no options. But on that note..... I've played csz and it's a pretty close match up. He does not need a nerf his setups are not hard to block and you can armour easily... People need to learn how to fight a character before bitching, this is exactly why they butchered my girl Tanya. I don't play nor will I even buy tri, but he definitely does not need a nerf.

I usually don't double post but also learn how to read your opponent. If he catches you with 1 reset, realize how he caugot you because 8/10 times he'll do it again.

say whatever you want about the characters viability, but saying his setups aren't hard to block just makes you look like an idiot.

ZigZag

That Welsh Guy
I've been labbing him and I would love him to be the best more than anything or even close to because I love him.... but the more I dive in and hear and see and preform myself I sit here and think, how are they going to nerf him without ruining him?

You big babies, just tough it out for a bit and then discuss nerfs. Not 24 hours had passed and the Nerf bat was ready to be swung.

What a day. What a lovely day.
To be fair, his hardtoblockables in the corner are a bit extreme. Not to mention how even the slightest hesitation on the CSZ's (or Cyrax) part can affect the timing, leading to a discrepancy in the consistency of blocking it correctly in the first place.

Factor in how some characters' armored attacks don't move them forward enough, or lack decent armor at all... and yeah, it becomes potentially problematic. I suppose only time will tell.

So we've spent the best part of a year dealing with Quan Cheese pseudo-unblockables to finally getting some sort of level ground with him. Now they release a new character with the same sort of offence and we are supposed to be ok with that?

This type of offence should not exist. Period. Not with Quan, Cyrax, Tremor, Sonya, Cyber Sub or any other god damn character.

The whole point of defending is to block the mix ups high for OH and low for low attacks. If someone is hitting you with both within a frame of each other, I don't care how much lab time you think I need, it shouldn't be happening.

The Lin Kuei member in question that was nerfed has nothing to do with CSZ since he was nerfeddue to other reason, not that I agree that he did need a nerf. He didn't have low bombs and OH/lows hitting at the same time, it's irellevant.

CSZ is fucking stupid and he should be hit with a nerf bat right in his mincey cyber balls.
lol ever try using training mode? It usually helps out

Can we not use the word nerf when speaking on an aspect that needs to be normalized?

Nerf means an overhaul of a character, fixing plenty of OP aspects to make them on the level as other characters.

Normalized means fixing one or two over the top moves so it can better match that character's overall level - ie Cassie backflip

Lao needed a nerf, Quan needed a nerf, Tanya needed a nerf.

CSZ has a psuedo-unblockable, it needs to be fleshed out.

Surely they will make ice bombs mid...still allowing him to pressure and utilize it, but taking out the psuedo-unblockable.

Cyrax needs a nerf tho. He's dumb
if they make it a mid, itl be useless

Wigy

There it is...
Cyrax is better, if y'all get csz nerfed you're goin to get hit in the face with a wall when you get mopped by cyrax all over evo.
Whaaaaat. How so?

Also, aside from making dive more neg and giving ice ball more recovery. All they need to do is make it that a low/overhead within 4-5 frames of each other come out as low/mid oh/mid etc

How many of you have went into the lab, performed the setup with the record option, and then practiced your ways out? How many? 1 or 2?

If you did you would know that it isn't as hard as it visually looks. You make a read, you're either wrong and get blown up or you're right and you punish him. That's literally MKX. It isn't like Quan where you can know to guess low then high and STILL get hit. CSZ if you guess right your inputs allow you to block. But most of you saw some video and made up your minds while other certain DLC will run this game with their easy as hell to apply meta that leads to simplistic life bar killing pressure.

Last post in this thread. Don't wanna hear shit bout any other character in the future from people in these threads, I'll be the first to remind them "what about CSZ?" You all deserve to get bodied by other chars in the future and "complain" about it when it's too late.
