I wonder how they came up with this solution. Like did they plan to abandon the whole platform or was it a spontaneous decision? I imagine the meetings in NRS/WB offices were like:
- lets hire another team to support PC
- nah, fuck that shit. This platform was not that profitable anyway.
- but what do we do when they'll ask questions?
- *Ed Boon* Yeah I bet my ass PC port would be just as good as consoles!
- just ignore everything guys... just ignore everything...

Is this possible ingoring PC`s is influenced by consoles? Maybe they made a behind-the-curtain deal with timed exclusivity? Or want to execute a masterful level of milking and hope PC players will buy consoles and their game a second time?

I liked the dialog and I will try to expand the reasoning behind it.

In my opinion KP2 release was a decision taken before the launch of the game. So the budget for it was already there, it didn't come from the game's profit over the sales. The only thing that was not known before was who would be the 4 characters and maybe the exact day of release. That applies for pc as well.

Due to the pc problems WB fired HVS and after QLOC end of contract, there was no developing team for pc when the implementation of KP2 was about to start in consoles.

Then some smartass comes up with an idea "why to bother and hire an experienced port team to release new content on pc when the playerbase is small? we keep pc KP2 budget and we use it to give some more free stuff for consoles and mobiles and we abandon pc for now, as the other 2 editions are more profitable, also we will have additional profit from people who will be forced to move to ps4/xbox1 and buy the game again".

Someone could ask him what about the backlash of the fans? "Easy answer, worst case scenario a petition which hardly will reach 10.000 signs, some video rants that as a whole will have less than a million views, some angry comments or emails on our official accounts/pages/forums or in twitch we will just ignore them as well. In addition lots of others console players will insult the ones with the complaints, so every time their numbers will be smaller."

What about WB's and NRS' reputation? "If you worry so much about our reputation, when the game's lifespan is over on consoles, we hire a newbie company to make the port of a komplete edition + some free skins as an apology. We sign them with a contract, which defines that their payment is a percentage over the sales , so no risk for money loss, especially if the content is available only digitally. However, if we decide to abandon pc as a platform in general for our titles, why to care about our reputation on it?"

From what I have read so far, I believe that some syllogism like the one above led them to that decision, but of course I can't be sure.

To be honest, I don`t believe we won`t get this content at all, it`s just too much to be just wiped under carpet.
I suspect if we do, it'll come much later. Perhaps with all the issues before, they want to wait for NetherRealm to be truly done with the game, and then port. Cheaper and safer because of no need to patch afterwards or provide more than ongoing tech support.

Or maybe not and the PC version will stay as-is.

For everyone saying that they'll release this content on PC later:

Think about - if at some point they come up saying: "okay sorry guys for the delay, here comes your kp2 and shit" - someone is gonna ask questions: "Why were you ignoring everything pc related until now? Why would I pay money again for a product that had little community before and doesn't have one at this moment at all? What about Boons promise regarding PC port being "awesome"? Who the fuck do you think you are treating your customers like that?"

And since they came out of the woods, they'll have to either answer all the questions or turn on the ignore mode again (lol).

So no guys, we are not getting shit.

If they release the content, even at a later date, some people will buy it. Probably a lot of the people who already have the game since they'll want it no matter how salty they are.

And WBIE won't need to answer anything, whether people buy it or not.

Regardless, we'll need to wait and see if it even comes out or not.

And it took them like 3 days to remove that logo lol.

You know, MK9 was released on PC two years after consoles, and they weren`t worried about no one buying obsolete game...

Yeah, though in fairness I don't expect them to do stuff over weekends (non-business days) since it's not a critical support issue.

That's also why I don't expect us to get anything on Tuesday, since it'll take more than two days I'd imagine and that's how many business days we have left.

And that they did, and Ed Boon used to say that Mortal Kombat would no come to PC, but it did.

So as I've said all along, we'll need to wait and see. I'm hoping we'll at least get some bit of news by March's end, even if it is bad news.

Or

which seems way more realistic they will just ignore us (PC players) and won't say anything about PC version ever again. Just like they do it now at kombat kast / twitter / everywhere.

Even if there was one, what would that accomplish?
very much

a community manager
-read the Forum and Response
-collect feedback
-could work with the modding scene + add a steam Workshop (add soem prizes for best Skins)
-announce Events in the steam Forum and turnaments

people stop Play ,if they not know if wb or someone work on future stuff , it is a time consuming game which need you to learn a lot of combos.
after tons of early axcess games, peple got used to get unfinished games and Play something else in the first year after release ...., till the game get improved
(optimized for lower end grafic cards) or when they get cheeper and when more Content is released for the game.

in mkx it was a netcode problem and pc players would defenetly Play more if they know, if wb try search new developers and if there is a Chance that it get released later on. atm it look like we not get the final patch who will fix the game and make it finished :( (the netcode)

not having a community manager is the worst .... it tell the people, the devs dont care about feedback and the community and just want the money

Like say MKXL as a Windows 10 universal app via the Windows Store like KI, Quantum Break, etc ported from the Xbox version with essentially the same code base and possible X1/PC cross play? That would actually be pretty cool.

Microsoft is having an embargoed press only event this week on such games and is pushing their unified platform for Windows 10 initiative with another developer event soon.

It's a total lonshot, but not completely absurd depending on how hard it is to port Xbox One games over as Windows 10 apps and the state of the current PC code.

That's also quite possible. We'll need to wait and see; not much else we can do.

No, I mean, at this point we are not getting the game and we are not getting support besides basic (like they still run servers). So, why would we need manager now, again? Or anything at all, for that matter? You guys need to get back to Earth.

They made a killing selling the game at the time, and sure as hell it wasn't obsolete by then (by what? early f23 edition of IGAU nobody except TYM cared about?).

...except back then they haven't earned reputation of releasing shittiest PC ports imaginable at the time and not giving a single fuck about it later. And besides, PC finally started getting other modern FGs, so unlike 2013, there's a competition now.

Guys if after KP2 release, we don't have any news for pc(as it seems), do you believe that we should leave this forum?
With the balance patches that are coming on consoles, the pc edition will be another game, after all... So tomorrow will be the last day that we will be equal members inside MK community. Does it feel ok to you to be an active member of a community where some of the console players insult you, the developer and publisher ignore your existence and your questions and you are in general treated as a second class customer?

It's a fair question. Unfortunately, the problem is that the people being truly punished are the die-hards who happened to purchase MKX on PC. Many love the franchise (and possibly the community) too much to actually want to leave. Some will stick around, others will leave. Both camps will be miserable. The guys who leave will continue to wish that they weren't being deprived of something they love, simply because they happen to be PC players. The guys who stay will be stuck reading commentary and watching the match-footage of their fellow MK die-hards, who were lucky enough to purchase the game on console. It really, really sucks.

And, it's something that really bothers me, because I almost decided to buy MKX for PC. A couple of months pre-release, I was having a tough time choosing whether or not to drop money on a PS4. I ultimately opted for a PS4 (about a month before MKX dropped) and have been very happy with my decision. But, I really feel for you PC guys who had similar decisions to make and went the PC route. What WB has done is simply colossal bullshit.

The road to obsoletion is almost over. For sure many will leave the community if they didn't already. I'd find extra offensive and disrespectful if WB or NRS (yes, i blame NRS and Boon too. It's their franchise with their fucking name on it) decide to break silence and try to explain something now. It's been a month of complete childish silence. The backlash would have been considerably minor if any kind of explanation (bs) was given in time. Console fanboys don't even deserve your attention.
