Sun God by far outdamages blood God. When your anti air conversion is 20-33% sun God does 40s off of a b1. Literally any conversion is done better by sun God.

keep in mind that BG haa the red and purple totems which make him not just about damage. SG is a bad matchup for BG but there are situations id much rather have the totems than grab

I didnt see anything here or in the combo thread but is it known that Kotal can get a totem out mid combo off a F2 starter?Ive only seen the F1B2 starter

F2, F1B2xx reverse input totem, d1, B14xxDF1

Basically you input the totem in the opposite direction because the B2 in F1B2 makes you switch sides under them, then the d1 follow up is back in the side you started on. Its good to get a totem out from F2 as a starter

Yeah. Pretty widely known at this point and there are many threads/posts about it. Gives him the exact same damage as f1b2~totem (both 48% with their max BnB) but it's still great. It's not an easy combo so you really need to grind the intricacies out.

I consider both of these combos to be some of the hardest in the entire game. Particularly getting the timing right for the 1 and ending f2 and d2 in the second combo (which I think all three are 2 frame links with no way to buffer).

Ok my bad then Im a little late to the Kotal party. I scanned through the combo thread and didnt see anything immediately under the totem combo column. Is 114xxtotem on block still plus 5? I was having trouble stuffing reptile dash on reversal but was easy to stuff with 114 air grab which I thought was plus 4?

Ya know, everybody thought it was +5 for awhile but apparently somebody fucked up the testing. It seems like it's only +2 atm but I need to definitively test to make sure.

Ok that feels more right becuase I was mostly trading with dash using d1 and couldnt beat it with 114 again. Thanks

Yea the totem conversion after an F2 really should be included in the combo thread. It is a bnb. The only problem is that sometimes the totem isn't a reversed input based on how far back the F2 starts or if it follows a long distance jip1 then it becomes a normal totem input. The reversed input is perfect for starting match F2

If you can find someone with a swinging nutsack to use a launch punishable wakeup after you slice, hell yeah it's worth it. If there is one thing that BG does possibly the best in the game, it's blow people the fuck up for stupid decisions.

Yeah man, that's exactly why I press block with the move input. So even if I don't get the correct side I still will get a full combo. Ie totem if correct, EX air grab if incorrect.

I stated in the general discussion post that Blood God in my opinion is a variation with extreme weaknesses but a huge strength in that our potential damage more can be tripled if set up correctly. Usually, the risks are not worth it and Blood God is usually ignored in favor for a more viable variation. Has anyone found a way for using the obsidian totem in a more efficient way? The damage reduction is nice and all, but usually our opponents aren't fazed by it and just seem to ignore it. It's almost not worth it especially since we have to play very carefully.
Go check out my forum it may help with some different outlooks on kotal I just did blood totem today I will do the others asap

Well, just finished my final MKX tournament (PC RIP). Blood God tried to carry me to top 8 but fell just short. Nik0lass and Footwerk too strong. Was looking forward to showing off some tricks on stream, sorry fam. And farewell!

I've read that Blood God is currently Kotal's worst variation. I'm not sure since I don't play the character, but if that's true then what if he was buffed to have his totems cancelable? Like if you have the crystal totem out you could cancel it at any point with the obsidian totem without having to wait for the timer to expire. Would this be enough to put him on par with the other 2 variations?

Anything youve heard about blood god not being viable is probably old and out of date or just opinion, for the most part all variations have shown to be good. If any change is needed most people would agree to fix the 114 string.
I already know he's viable, I've just heard the other 2 are significantly better.
