Where there is smoke, there is cancer.
Is Vega good in SFV? I remember trying to play him in SFIV when I first got the game but I didn't know what a charge character was so never touched him again. Iirc he's not a charge character anymore?

Also, Chun-Li is awesome. I've been conditioning people to think I'm going to do a crossup jik then I do instant air Legs from a forward jump and catch them not blocking lol. Doesn't do much life damage but the mental damage seems to be worth doing it!

Yes Vega is really good in the latest build.

- He can evade / punish projectiles with his V-Skill.
- Reliable anti-airs
- Good pressure
- Good pokes (claw mode)
- Good frame traps and combos (no claw mode)
- Can combo from his Barcelona attack (no claw mode)
- Command grab
- His V-Trigger is quick, shuts down a lot of things, and you can link his super easily after you hit. It's also safe on block, and can be used to get out of corner for free.
- etc

Damn, I picked the wrong character lol. What's his drawbacks?

Everybody stop playing whoever your playing right now and play Gief!! He's hella fun. I'm having a character crisis now lol. I may have lost all my League Points but it's totally worth it to try and get a grip of this character.

Edit: Nevermind. My rank went down around 15,000 places trying to play Gief. He's not for me lol. Back to Ryu :p

Even though I haven't played any Beta, my main is definitely going to be Ryu. Because he is a protagonist of SF series like Liu Kang in MK, he has red headband and because Ryu is how Liu is pronounced in Japanese.

P.S. AND BECAUSE THIS!!!

They don't really play very similarly, but yeah his parries are going to be so awesome once people get the hang of them.

I'd recommend trying every character in training mode at least once when you play the game though.

I always pick a character in fighting games, not a gameplay. I learn a likeable character's gameplay after choosing a kombatant. Ryu suits me more than well as a character.

THERE IS FEAR IN YOUR HEART
He definitely out pokes her. I think you have to play mid-range against him. Don't let him jump in and pressure you. Throw fireballs and follow them. If you see him try to fireball back, use f+HP or her v-skill when your fireball absorbs his to close the gap. Use v-trigger in the neutral if you don't have meter. This will allow you to win the fireball war and get in. Bait his DP's and try to read what he does on a standing reset. Pressure with st. MK into vskill dashes into command grabs. Also, use st. HP and cr. MP into MP fireballs and ex fireballs for more pressure.
I agree I tried Ken in the last nets. This I just picked Nash and been having a blast. There is a ton of setups u can do. It's the most fun with a character I had in a while

Fair enough. Ryu is a really good character to teach the game as well, so he's definitely still a good choice.

Any thoughts on the best charge character? I've had no time to try the beta, so I have no clue about the characters strengths.

I prefer charge characters, so those are the only ones I care about for now.

To my knowledge there are no complete charge characters now, but here's what you have to choose from:

Chun li: Her fireball, and spinning bird kick are charge. The rest are motion.

Necalli: I'm not to familiar with his moves, but I believe 2 of his 4 moves are charge, the others are motion.

M. Bison: I believe all of Bison's moves are charge BUT his super is still qcfx2.

So I suppose in your case Bison would be best.

As for who's best, I'm not too sure at this point. I plan to main Chun li, but I've seen some really awesome stuff with Bison and Necalli as well.

Is it just me or is this game really boring to watch but quite fun to play?

Having been entirely uninterested watching the "pros" play this game, but the beta has actually been pretty enjoyable.

Atomic Era

Grundy want pants too.
Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary here...
It's hard to notice at first especially with the K.O. covering it up but at :42 after the eletric attack left leaves her hands, one of Laura's breasts goes into a divebomb before fixing itself a moment later.

Depends on who you watch, Infiltration's Nash is quite fun to watch.

I'd rather be playing than watching. I suspect that it'll change when the game's out.

Posting some matches I had, hoping for some feedback. SFV is my first SF game and I only started playing yesterday so I don't really know all the mechanics and stuff. I think I'm doing pretty alright but I assume that's cuz I get matched up with ppl on my lvl... Anyways, if anyone could give me some feedback to help me understand the game better I would appreciate it a lot :D

I'd say just wait until people actually figure out the game. It's been constantly changing and everyone just needs a stable release they can sit through and figure out. Then we'll be getting all the setups, frame traps, MU knowledge, comebacks, combos and everything else that will be hype to watch. And with possible incoming new talent and maybe some OGs coming back we'll get personalities, rivalries and other stuff that make watching it fun too. Right now there's nothing really of "value" except just watching people learn.

A few advices :

1) Need to antiair those people jumping for free at you : use qcf+HP or s.MP>command dash>mixup

2) Stop using MP>MK command move. No use unless you wanna confirm your V-Trigger activation into a huge combo.
Better use these :
- low poke starter *** cMK>qcfLP (+2 on hit, safe on block, can frame trap or throw afterwards)
- long range starter *** f+HP>LP>qcfLP (same options)
- close range counter poke *** cLP>cMP>qcfLP (same options)
- frame trap *** MP>cMP>qcfLP or MP (depending on if you prefer a mixup or a KO+oki)

3) Cancel normals into command dash (in+throw / out+jumpin / overhead / out+overhead / in+command throw / in+frametrap) so that they have to worry about being too defensive and start pushing buttons (then apply frame traps)

4) Use LK>command throw when they block all day, then sHK if they quick rise, you can net some CC sometimes if they mash on wakeup.

5) When they start jumping out of your throws, you can punish a neutral jump with a qcfHP, if they jump back, you don't have many options though.

6) Be patient and block more. Worst case, you hit 120 damage from a throw, it's way less than spamming buttons and getting CC or frame trapped into 300+

7) Try and use MP>MK>V-Trigger>cMP>EX fireball>HP into
----------- A) slow fireball > command grab
----------- B) fast fireball > LK > qcfLP etc
----------- C) command dash >mixup (can dash behind or stay in front of your opponent)

This is really helpful, thanks a bunch! :D
