Since Cyber-Sub is back, I'm willing to think he will be a counter zoner. MB Ice blast from his chest probably cancels out other projectiles, and he has his dive kick. What's notable to mention is that he has a drone special now.. I wonder what it does.

Coming from the "I can't get around good zoning and space control to mindlessly mash my 50/50's and +frames" academy we'll take it.
I can get away from good zoning, its not hard lol
But what are YOU going to do when you can no longer press buttons and throw stuff??

That's already the case for 95% of MKX as is, hence why I switched characters to D'Vorah. Most zoning characters at disadvantage in many MUs zoning vs the army of strong rushdown and 50/50 characters. They made this game specifically for people like you to be happy. So you should be happy.


Though if Sektor actually can zone effectively without having huge gaping weaknesses, which would be a breath of fresh air in this massively offensive oriented game, I'd switch main's for the rest of my time playing.

I mean there's Summoner and Kitana zoning that can be really strong in some MUs. Hopefully Sektor soon. But in a general sense zoning is far inferior to the rushdown in this game and I don't see that changing.

No point zoning with summoner. Run in 50/50 and stuff like that. Game doesn't reward defense or zoning at all.

These new cmd grab buffs are stupid and there add another layer to offense. Meanwhile those zoners like cybernetic are getting nerfed or left alone. I mean COME ON. It makes me salty af. Sektor will change this but that's ONE character out of a large roster.

Why waste time and resources when you can block string, 50/50 and unlockable them to death with one touch? He does have the best zoning imo too but why do it when it has no where near as much as of a reward.

There are some characters you do not want anywhere near you. You want to make them impatient so the make mistakes or scared to move so then you can start your pressure. Starting with two bars of meter you can easily finish a round just zoning. Quans offence is ridiculous but you need to get it started first. It is not unblockable!

I don't know what game some of you guys play but I've thrown about 20,000 projectiles with Tremor. Zoning is a huge part of this game, probably not as strong as in some other games but there's a reason so many characters's bad match ups are against characters who zone them. Sonicfox used alot of zoning in ESL grand finals as Gunslinger, Pig used Kenshi and Reptile making use of his zoning tools, you see people like Forever King have success with HQT, you see GM sub doing his thing midscreen, some people even played Full Auto in tourney ect.

There's no doubt about it that the game is more rushdown oriented but if zoning was that bad you wouldn't see it in high level play from multiple characters.

Issue is that strong rushdown characters are universally strong with their tools in all MUs, while zoning characters have MU dependent strong zoning.

much more rushdown characters compared to much less zonners

I wouldn't really argue otherwise, my point is just that it's much better then some people are making it out to be.

How the hell is zoning just "sitting back and spamming"? And I say this even though both characters I use are best-played rushdown.
