cR SonicFox Wins The ESL MKX Pro League Season 1 Finals Championship!!

And the "disrespect" is to get into his opponents head. Same reason REO always does a fatality. I respect that, even in a high pressure environment with a lot on the line, you still have the presence of mind to go deeper than the match and play mind games, that is just god like.
Ugh. I hate these complaints as much as people complaining about touchdown celebrations. If you don't like it, the answer is real simple: just win. Somebody starts whipping sonic's tail match after match you can bet he'd stop the tbagging, etc. and focus. But they can't/don't. When the competition's on it ain't time to make friends.

awesome job to the players. i was really impressed with sonic fox's footsies, spacing, and timings with kitana, he looked like someone who's been playing that style for much longer than he actually has. i was rooting for pig and carl, but $10k and $5k ain't too bad! in fact i was really happy with how top 4 turned out: two dedicated zoners in kitana and kenshi, one sorta-zoner in shinnok, one whatever-she-wants-to-do in tanya, one 50/50 pressure character in erron, and one frame trap pressure character in kung lao. that's really great variety. all in all, great way to set up evo next week.

also shoutouts to ketchup and mustard killing it on the mic!

Congrats to all involved. The Foxy Nivek match was hype as hell. REO not turning it on until going down a few times over and over again was insane. Pig giving us old folks hope, and of course Kitana coming outta no where. Can not wait to see DJT face off against Sonic Fox again.

Really awesome to see the amount of great gameplay we've been privy to this year. I feel like since the Fatal 8, it's been one long nonstop train of fun tournaments; and we've gotten to see a lot of the best players compete numerous times, including international competition.

This has been the densest tournament season we've ever had, and it's pretty cool to think that it's all happened within only 3 months of release.

EVO will put the icing on the cake -- so I'm looking forward to next weekend, and kudos for WB/NRS/ESL for helping to make this happen.

Well, I hope you realize that the variety is mainly appearing due to NRS' deft hand in patching the game :)

Kenshi, Kitana, and Shinnok have all benefited from receiving the timely adjustments they needed. And tournaments are becoming more varied and interesting as a result. Just goes to show that the strategy is working as expected.

I'm excited to see how this all plays out at EVO.

it's just been tier swapping really, that easily could have been other characters if patches hadn't happened. mkx top 8s have been varied at every major, only exception is once the second dlc character came out

Which characters did they swap the tiers with? They did not replace Quan Chi, Kung Jin, Jax, Cassie etc -- they're simply competitive with them now.

We're just as likely to see any of the other characters at a similar level in finals at this point. The difference is that the specific playstyle of the characters that were buffed has brought greater variety in approach/meta to the mix.

The effect of the patching has been to strengthen other character types in order to bring them more on par with the 50/50 rushdown crew.

I don't know if he has ever criticized the patching in terms of actual balance. The game is definitely becoming more balanced, but his complaint is that patching can turn certain players away, which is true, and his point to there being variety before Tanya is kind of true as well. You're both right, why keep trying to poke the bear? Your first comment seemed to be on the offensive as well.

At the end of the day, I'd rather see a better game with more alternate types of characters succeeding, than a worse off, unbalanced game that's afraid of alienating a few people who weren't very committed to it in the first place.

Or put another way, It'll be great to not be booed out of the building at EVO again.

I agree, I'm for patching as well, but there's no reason to take an unprovoked jab at someone just because they don't agree with you.

Great tournament. Anyone ever win a prediction prize before to know how ESL gets in contact with you?
I won one some week and didn't realize there was a prize, I thought it was just for fun. But I got an email saying they were attempting to contact me via twitch PMs. So I'd keep an eye on your twitch account PMs.

Ah, good to know, thanks.
