General/Other - Cybernetic Kano's Cybernetic Variation Discussion Thread

Again that's not a reset, that's a combo
My sentiments exactly, as I explained before, different people calling things resets that arent exactly what the word means. but I used the terminology for the sake of understanding. So yes, you are correct, it is a combo.

I said reset guys
as in resetting the opponent to a neutral stance
generally speaking reset mean to reset the damage scale and usually restands the opponent

Kano can do a "restand mid-combo reset damage scale with Ex Knives" just doesn't seem to practical at this time
a move that is plus on block is called advantageous
a move that pops up is called juggles

shouldn't assume things, if it doesn't make sense then it should be questioned not corrected for self comfort

So this was something I stumbled upon at ranbats yesterday. I tried to recreate it in training mode and apparently if you juggle ex knives at the right angle it will cause a re-stand. Check it out!

Edit: oops nvm this was mentioned earlier in the thread. Sorry guys

In Zoning We Trust
Have you ever heard the term "being sold a bill of goods?" Basically you're sold said bill that promises certain goods, but the goods never arrive or are not what advertised. Understand?
Sounds like Kano in general to me.

I played someone I don't wanna blow up yesterday, and lost 18-25 with Kano, but won for the 1st time ever against him 20-13 with my much less experienced Pyro Tanya.

That Bill.

Respectfully, I think this is something different than what I was talking about. This is talking about pulling someone from the air or otherwise off their feet as 1+3 does at the end of a juggle as I read it. Though I have been wrong before.

What I saw and brought up was doing it mid combo. Or what interested me, was when i throw out ex knives i could combo off of it on hit and i didnt realize it. I hadnt run across it in combo discussions. I could have missed it.

The ex knives done mid combo does not reset the damage scale and continues counting is why I felt it a combo.

Either way, I just wanted to point out the cool tech I saw and might have a place in the tool box. Obviously it does, as now that I recognize it, I see the top kano players doing it in their vids as above. Whatever the jargon, it's kinda cool, no?

yea its an awesome move
plus on block
juggle on hit
and can cause a restand reset... which is what I'm trying to dig more into since it leaves them close

has anyone found a string which will make it reset 100% of the time? has anyone got more on this, I know @dribirut said it's useless, why? Is that just your opinion after seeing how initially it seems so damn situational, or have u tested it personally and came to this conclusion?

Imma hit the lab

is there any footage of this restand? Like I haven't seen it at all.

Let's see how long this lasts...
Hey guys, hate to break up your actual useful Tech discussion but... I found the most useless Kano tech!

Up Laser hit Jason when he's standing at point blank. Cool but kinda useless.
It also hits Jason on block which is kinda cool since Up Laser for some unknown reason is +2.
I also found that you can do F4 xx Up Laser on block and it hits Jason so, you can do F4 xx Up Laser to be +2, not bad right?

Reasons this sucks:
It doesn't work at MAX range of the F4.
If you hit with F4, Up Laser misses.
Jason can duck between the F4 and the Up Laser.
He can also armour through it.
Hell he can just shoulder charge under it since you need his hit box needs to perfectly standing.

Note:
It also hits Ermac if he's standing perfectly still.
Goro hits at point blank AND on block IF you cross him up with a jump and ONLY if you cross him up...

Guys I really tried to find something with up laser, I really did :( Oh well I guess I'll look into EX Knives cause that actually looks useful T_T

You're at significant advantage after knives restand

trying to get it to work in the corner where you could actually do something with it but nothing yet

Out there suggestion:
Normal knives restand.

Reasoning:
Why the fuck not? Fuck you and your varying opinion I want my fucking buff! Hold this dick you Oedipal wanker.

We wouldn't have to worry about wakeups and it'd open up combo opportunities we'd not usually have. It'd also boost our zoning slightly because it means the opponent would have to hold another one, especially if we anti-air with it. It doesn't really boost our up-close game significantly because they're still -10 on block and we have no overhead that they need to worry about if it hits and at the moment it's TWO bars to even think about doing the restand, we still need to spend a bar to launch them in the first place. Yes we have B131+3/B231+3 but that only covers around half screen and it's not always easy to land, plus technically this would give him a damage boost if we ended our combos in 112~DF2. I don't feel that that's too much to ask, what do you guys think?

If knives restand do you want them as plus on hit they are now? Cause being +11 on knife is like...whats the point of using the laser ending strings then.

Ok so the restand is not hard to do consistently midscreen (I get it 9/10 times) but what do we do off it? There are no followups to really warrant the use of two bars. Suggestions?

Uhhhhm well I got nothing haha. I mean b31 or maybe 112, 2 bars to end in a throw sounds wack haha, now in the corner...still kinda wack.

Well, at least maybe you could do the brutality mid screen with only one bar. I dunno. Lol. Will mess with that some, maybe something there. Anything against Jason is a good thing. Hate playing him online. That's just me though.

Yeah, I always go for restand in the corner but I don't see the use for this. Also still cant get it to work in the corner

That was the conclusion I came to as well. However, what I have seen people do a lot in tournament videos is use it at the end of combos in block string as a baiting or conditioning technique. Doing it over and over until the opponent attempts to punish or attack on "their turn" following their block. Then they get stuffed with a full combo.

Personally, as I mentioned earlier, I have been using it as kind of a hit confirm. Ex knives on block I back dash either to create distance or further bait an attack I can stuff. My reflexes aren't always that great, but this situation seems to be easy. If it hits I follow up with b1 or b2. Full combo with another bar if it's there. I mean, if the damage is there, why not take it.

Haven't really looked at it as combo tech because intentionally using two bars to combo is not wise. Looking at it as tech with the possibility of another possibility to open opponents up. Was hoping others better than I could look into it and further explore its possibilities, but as youphemism put it, that might be all there is.

I still can't get past the "he's really hard to balance" statement on stream. what a bill.

I completely understand that feeling. Been a while since I played the game seriously but I do significantly better with a much less used Sonya. What a shocker.

Watch at 3:22, that's all I could come up with for a scenario, granted this was awhile back but imo you're better off just saving the bar for block pressure anyway. If ya want a standing reset, he has b23,1+3 and b13,1+3.

Forgive my laziness, as i cant be assed to look through this thread. But since the patch, has anyone else had b31lazer randomer come out as b3,laser,b1?
