I think Goro players should start a petition for Grum, the six-armed Shokan, to be in MK11.

I want to main Grum and all six of his nunchuks
 
I only use goro for characters that can stay grounded. Don't even bother with teleport vortex characters and especially online (I use shinnok for them and it works great >:) )

So how many Goro players are actually maining him at Evo? I feel like the dumbest person on the boards to be doing so with everyone proclaiming how bad he is...

I just played against my first Pyro Tanya offline, and it was every bit as bad as I thought it would be (and more!)

Her ex teleport seems bonkers good. Even if I corner her she can do that into air teleport and she's out. Gonna have to practice against it to see what I can do.

Chest bump seems crucial for snagging her while she's trying to get away (for me anyway).

In any case, extremely brutal match up lol

I was practicing breaking armour with my 3d3 against Raiden's ex rising attack move in the corner, and occasionally when I broke it, Raiden would not get knocked down?

Most of the time it behaved as expected, I get the CHING! of triggering the armor, and then I stomp him into a ground bounce, but occasionally the ground bounce wouldn't happen and he would just get hit into a standing reel.

Is this a common thing? Does anyone know what is going on here?

The game has some weird glitches like that with armor. The same thing happens with chest lunge.

Are you talking about when chest lunge causes them to go into a reel but doesn't throw them? Because I think that is a different (but visually similar) scenario.

The first hit of chest lunge causes them to go into grounded reel, and the second hit grabs them out of this reel and throws them. If the second hit whiffs (because of peculiar spacing or whatever) then they just get put into the standing reel and that's it...

But with my 3d3 scenario described above, I'm actually striking with both hits of 3d3, but on the rare occasion the second hit is not causing a ground bounce.

Or are you talking about a different bug with chest lunge? If so, please ignore what I wrote above. :)

I've experienced the chest whiff. I've never seen the 3D3 effect you are describing

I don't think I've ever experienced either issue, but I don't really use chest lunge so...

Also, was experimenting with Tigrar a bit. 3d3 xx EX df4 dash 12 xx dbf3 is midscreen 27% and the cancel won't come out if it's blocked. Really feels like 3d3 is best complimented with Tigrar's set of tools.

Also, Tigrar has all of the holes in the cancels :(

Nope, and it is indeed a weird corner thing. Something I've noticed in recent NRS games is that some moves have a hurtbox that overlaps/lingers in areas that they shouldn't, causing some weird hitbox issues.

E.G. In Injustice, Shazam's d2 hit opponents in his back.

f4 can also cause some issues with Goro, if they interrupt it - I've seen them fly backwards after I got hit, as though a hitbox was present after the interruption.

Anything useful in there gets posted on the main board. There's no secrets or anything, just a subforum for people taking the character seriously. There's nothing in there that can't be done or said on the Gen Discussion board, but having a semi-private forum helps filter out nonsense and trolling, which the Goro forum doesn't get much of, which is why we all mostly post here and the Illuminati chat is usually dead lol.

Got same thing with exPW. It was like all hit miss opponent but last, launching one hit, while opponent was behind Goro and I managed to combo of it.

One thing I'm surprised I'm not seeing discussed more is how good his grab is in conjunction with his string and punchwalk. Granted that sometimes it can feel like a herculean effort to even land a blockstring with Goro, but he's got all these strings that are +1 or +2 on block and he's got this 7 frame command grab that's almost uninterruptable after the opponent blocks one of those strings. And then if they start getting antsy and pressing buttons or jumping after strings you can just start canceling into punchwalk

Like you said, the problem is he just doesn't land strings. F2 is too slow to be consistently useful, B1 has no range and is only useful in combos. 21 and 11 both start high so you'll usually get down-poked out of them. Can't pressure with them on a midscreen knockdown either since all of Goro's knockdowns except B4 send the opp across the screen.

You can pressure pretty well with F21 and 11 in the corner by using them as meaties on wakeup, but why shoot for a +2 that can get blown up by armor when you can go for a 50/50 3D3 or B3 EX PW, both of which break armor and are safe on block?

I think you're better off fishing for command grab by threatening with armor and making the opponent afraid to press buttons after a blocked poke or special. If you're using Tigrar, F3 or 21 into Flame Breath is a good blockstring for landing command grab. It's +12 on block so they have to armor out or jump. On hit it puts them in a -18 restand and you can grab immediately (you're usually too far midscreen but it's amazing in the corner).

More importantly, this happens if it trades while going into the second hit. Played a Kenshi tonight and kept getting it. It's essentially a free combo since you can jump-in punch and they can't retaliate.
