I doubt it. Netherrealm wasn't even an exhibitor. Adam Urbano was just there doing interviews and described some of story mode.
He did say Johnny was playable in the first chapter of story mode at the event. I believe he just mentioned that we'd see Kenshi though, not that he was playable.
Many of our favorites didn't make it I know mine didn't. first thing I did was pick out a main(Kano) even back when Smoke looked like he had a good chance. so no Smoke, Stryker, possibly no Rain, and yet I'm still happy with the roster. Im looking at what's there rather than what isn't and beleive I'm a lot happier for it.

He said Johnny is playable in chapter 1, and they're also showing off Jacqui, Kenshi and takeda and he's not sure who else because he's always mixing up whose announced an unannounced.

he also said johnny's x ray or brutality (cant remember) is really nasty cuz he breaks the nuts to the opponent. i presume he will be (unfortunately) in the roster not just story mode

Yeah it would be "unfortunate" if one of the most famous/iconic MK characters, who is also a classic from mk1, made the roster.

Did you miss the video of Adam Urbano saying they were showing off the first chapter of story mode where you can play as Johnny and you'll see Kenshi? It was in an interview with GameCrate at GDC but got taken down, I think there is a snippet of it somewhere though... Edit: jump to 33 seconds in, the guy plays the entire interview for you to hear. He says you see Kenshi, but says Johnny is playable. He even says his favourite brutality is Johnnys lol.
How is that much worse? You're saying there are only 5 when he didn't say there were only 5. Your suggestion is actually a lack of thought because everyone just assumed there's only 5, whereas I thought about it and came to the conclusion there could be more than 5, not that there will definitely will be but there is a chance. I'm not just coming to the same assumed conclusion.
I hear what you are saying but they want to make money. Scorpion is the most popular character, imagine leaving him out...Cage is like that but a lesser extent.
That method forces an idea not stated. Why say 5 as a specific number if not to indicate 5? Why not "At least 5"? Or "About 5"?

Ok, I guess they did show story mode, but he still only confirmed Johhny is playable in story mode (maybe only via QTE) but as far as TYM is concerned, if he's not in VS mode, he's not playable. Same with Kenshi.
Why hasn't anyone tweeted about playing as Johnny or Kenshi? Or seeing their variations?
