Rumor/Possible Spoilers: Mortal Kombat X Speculation General Discussion

I personally think this would make for a very solid overall roster. The only characters I would really miss are Shang Tsung, Cyrax, Sektor, and Fujin. My sincere hope is that at least one of those four (possibly more) makes it as DLC..

For anyone who was hoping for more post MK4 characters, I guess my biggest question would be: WHY? We all know that the series fell apart creatively after MK4 (arguably, after MK3) and that decline was, in part, due to preposterously bad characters.

This roster, IF accurate, serves as a very reasonable compromise between preserving the cherished legacy that comes with characters like Raiden, Sonya, JC, Jax, Sub, Scorpion, Kano, etc, etc. and creatively advancing the franchise to new heights with 8 new characters.

can u explain me whats the point of having jax+daughter and cassie+mommy+daddy? wouldnt it be a slot waste? if u noticed to leave out jade they gave some of her moveset to kitana, the same did with cassie, givin her some sonya-johnny moves. cmon' i dont wanna have a family-roster. this is a beatemup game focused on gore, i dont give a 'boon' to have a soap opera cast. we need more choice. if the leak turns out to be true we need to call back TOBIAS. have u noticed all the most badass and kool chars have been made by him? tobias please come back.... nrs dont have no more ideas they waste slots puttin in sons and daughters cuz they r booooring. we need chars like u and only u knew how to develop like noob saibot and all the other kool dudes credited by you

Why do people want Fujin and Reiko in this game?

They are recycled chars that started in MK4 copy-pasted from characters that didn't exist in the roster.

Fujin had Kung Lao's spin, Liu Kang's kicks, Sindel's fatalities and some random kicks and punches. Also, what wind god uses a crossbow wtf (see Goenitz for actual wind god comparison).

Reiko had shuriken spam and a flip kick.

The other versions from further games were so generic and soulless I can't for the life of me imagine what can be appealing in them?

if i had to name my top 10 least favourite characters of mk history, sonya, liu and Johnny would all be in, along with guys like mavado, kobra, nitara, and darrius. i wish they would finally leave for good...

there are so many cool characters in the mk universe which could be explored further, like havik, fujin, reiko, bo rai cho, skarlet, noob saibot and maybe even more new characters. hell even shang tsung is not in this roster... instead the most bland (kung fu monk, army person, troll character...) are featured AGAIN, some IN ADDITION TO THEIR OFFSPRING:

Because most of those charcateres were actually interesting but in bad games or had some potential with some salvaging. Reiko, Fuujin, Bo Rai Cho, & Havik especially have some legs as designs that could go places that I'd love to see again from NRS when they're firing on all cylinders.

i wouldnt mind if theres only one Special Forces bunch i dont care about... but if they bring their moms and dads thats just wasting roster space with repetition. i dont get the point of it when there are so many different interesting and demanded chars in the mk universe. the fact that i dont even like the repeated chars personally is just the icing on the cake.

They managed to make aquaman cool. Almost every character in injustice was solid and unique in their own way, and EVERY one of them except scorpion was created from scratch without a previous fighting game iteration of the character in mind, NRS can do original and they can do it well.

Seriously tho, can we get rid of Lui Kang? He is just as boring as Ryu. The character is unbelievably generic and I was hoping that Kung Jin would serve as a replacement, but obviously now that hes been revealed he is not replacing LK. Hopefully he is at least changed by his final fight with Raiden at the end of MK9 and actually has some relatable angst (kinda like legacy.) A sub boss or something more sinister would be a welcome change to the characters copypasta image of every fighting game 'Main Character' ever.

i never said any injustice character was not uniqe and awesome designed, at any point of the game or before release. and i used to hate comic books and especially dc. maybe that sheds some light on my opinion on some mkx chars... STILL ONLY BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE LEAK IS TRUE! i AM intrigued into jacquis playstyle because i hope it makes up for her lame look, and i can also grow on her as a character IF HER F*ING DAD IS NOT IN THE GAME TOO! same goes for cassie, i like the idea, shes not for me but i can see what people see in her. BUT I HOPED THAT WOULD END THE ERA OF JOHNNY AND SONYA. i wouldnt mind if you had either cassie OR Johnny/sonya in the game, BUT HOW THE HELL CAN YOU HAVE BOTH? its like making a new concept, then stop halfways and fill the game up with the stuff you wanted to get rid of and for that purpose made the new concept.

Other than Nutpunch which is fundamentally just a restand. and a basic taketown in her other variation

what moves does she have that is copied from JC or Sonya?
the shadow kick is apart of pre dialed string , he flip goes backwards and is not a Cartwheel, and her X-Ray can only be done 1 time

Yeah you can tell she's aspired from their moveset but other than Nutpunch she has nothing that JC or Sonya had

Both sonya and JC were strong characters in MK9 that had strong followings, from both lore and tier perspectives. The only people that even 'Survive' mk9 are JC, Sonya, Raiden, and almost all of the villians. They are the ones that will continue the story forward, and it makes sense.

Why does Jax's presence have any bearing on Jacquis character tho? what if it was Jacqui Smith and didnt have any relation to Jax or it was Cyrax daughter instead, would that make a difference? No, it wouldnt. It only becomes a problem if she is a blatant clone of jax with little to no uniqueness, and i dont see that being the case at all, and if it is then why arent people complaining about Takeda/Scorpion? Is it just because they arent related? cuz the 2 are gonna share some shit, promise.

humm ... suppose this could might be the final roster, I think there is no problem, since, basically , almost all classic characters form MK1 to MK2 would be in MKX, so, really no problem .... curiosity it's about how they could differ some characters from others (Cassie Cage, Sonya and Jonhhy Cage; Takeda e Kenshi) in a way they could keep their originality without being a copycat clone .... but they did a good job in IGAU, making Batman and Batgirl to differ enough , Green Lantern and Sinestro to be different too, so, NRS can do it again .....

if you look into personality, cassie is 50 percent Johnny, 50 percent sonya. doesnt really bring anything new.
jacqui hasnt shown any personality at all, after the comic im reeeally surprised shes more than a jobber. also for any of these 5, there are not much options to be different in terms of fighting style, none has supernatural abilities, its all melee and "normal" weapons.

i dont have that much of a quarrel with kung jin AND kung lao i being in the game, because by jins description from that other leak, they have neither similar personalites nor much of a common history, so they are quite unique. also jin has a bow.

about takeda/kenshi, i cant imagine why 2 chars with the same telekinetic powers should be in the game or if takeda doesnt have then, why he even is kenshis son.

This may not be true because I feel Cassie covers Sonya and Cage, Jacqui covers Jax, and Takeda covers Kenshi but NRS did mention in the past about characters performing fatalities on their family members so who knows
Overall I want more MK4 characters.
