What is your fighting routine on inflicting poison?
just play patient until you feel they are almost full on their poison or are out of stamina then go in with a Running whip attack or go ham with the Manslayer

do most of the work with the Whip, using its range to your advantage. But try not to be predictable or spammy with it, this builds biggest weakness is getting tanked so you don't want to open yourself up too much

But how do you get the buildup? Power stance 2 poison whips and attack them on block until poisoned?

Trying to find out if it fits my playstyle or I can get better damage just going all in.

Also found some stupid good utility spells for just one attunement slot that can be spiced down to base reqs.

the poison builds up when they block the whip, if they are dodging alot then you can go to running attacks of either weapon. Whips are also really good at punishing rolls if you do decide to pressure with the Manslayer

See, here's the problem. If I go in with washing pople and a poisoned whip, I get 800 damage worth of punishment for reading the roll, that's 80% of the maximum dot of poison.

The poison would be useful if it was in the form of either

2 poisoned whiffed building hella poison on block
2 poisoned katanas for after my washing pole's buff runs out

OR if I could make a dual poison kat build, read one roll, punish with a running atk into power stance strike attack for insta-poison and just reallocate any weapon buff investment in health, vitality or attunement for spells like numb, toxic mist, etc.

So apparently the scaling isn't working right now. AT 40/40 (STR/DEX), a +10 regular weapon does less damage than a +10 enchanted weapon. So right now, pure melee builds are at a pretty significant disadvantage when it comes to damage.

The PvP is really frustrating. As far as the netcode is concerned... phantom hits all day, face stabs WHILE looking at them and walking back, constant "connection failed" when using orbs or in the arena, and significant frame drops. The biggest issue is phantom hits and phantom ranges, because they happen almost 100% of the time but the ranges and hitboxes are random as hell. Facestabs usually only happen in bad connections, but they still happen way too often as well.

That's been the case since day 1, noone makes quality builds anymore.

That's your connection, I've rarely experienced these things.

While I do have cross region on, face stabs from 5 feet away and phantom range are definitely prevalent- but for me it's usually only with specific weapons. Oddly. That jousting spear thing and one very specific katana in pvp ALWAYS seem to be the ones that hit me from 10 feet. What makes this weird is that my slashes also have phantom effects on THEM. While frustrating, it's not often, and I've been enjoying the pvp a great deal so far. Maybe it's my build but it's fun as hell.

Is it the washing pole?

I put cross region to off as soon as I realised the arena would find me enemies anyway.

I don't think so....it's shorter than the washing pole was in DS1 but admittedly I've not paid much attention to the armor and weapons of the game. The 1 and 2 I use have served their purpose.

And is it just me, or are PVP ers in BoB arena WAAAAY worse than the guys on Iron Keep bridge? Maybe I'll have to join the sentinels and see how those guys are. I think they've got the better arenas.

Think of it as a reset.
I was really looking forward to the damage boost instead of the standard 700 damage for predicting a roll.

Will try a shotel.

Anyone know what's that projectile that slows you down to iron flesh lvls of mobility? Some dude just hit me twice with it.

Did it come from a wand/chime or from a weapon? I know that at least one of the two weapons you can make from freja's soul has some sort of slowing effect. I don't know which one or how it happens though.

It was a thrown projectile like the throwing knives.

Tonight's the night of weird shit, got some dude with 10 adp who was rolling all my roll punishes to the point where the hit that killed him broke my washing pole and just now I attacked the mimic in aldias keep and it launched me all the way to the stairs where I super jumped again to the cliffs. Damn.

How's that? I've seen many many different videos and streams with the same thing happening. I also have friends who play and experience the same.

No don't worry it really is an established issue, it's not just you. But like I said, to maximize connectivity, cross region is on for me personally . Game's so new we can't even say whether or not that's the reason why.

Ironclad Armor is pretty amazing. For those that don't know, the Ironclad Armor is the turtle shell armor, which prevents backstabs. In PvP, you can basically just backstab and parry fish with little consequence. They're whiff punishes have to be something other than a backstab. And if you're wearing Ironclad Armor, chances are you have high VIT and have good heavy armor to complement it. Meaning, you can tank hits for days and you don't have to worry about much of anything.

I've been trying it out on my tank build, and you can parry fish pretty consistently. You can tank hits then parry. If you mistime the parry... you just tank the hits. The only thing you have to really worry about is them parrying you, which is unlikely if you're just fishing parries and backstabs.

I'm really having success with my Juggernaut build. I can space, tank hits, do crazy one hit damage, and have very little to worry about. The only thing I have to worry about is bleed damage, poison, and other elemental stuff. Although I'm getting good damage in, I'm still not set on a weapon for this build. I was using the standard Battle Axe, but it's pretty awful in PvP. Switched to the Mastadon Halberd, which does a lot of damage and has the spin to win move. I'm not too far in the playthrough so my weapon options are limited. I just wanted to get to a decent level to try out some PvP stuff, and man I'm surprised at how well this build is doing. It took waaay too long to get the Ironclad Armor though. I literally killed 230 Ironclad Soldiers before one of them finally dropped the chest piece. Really frustrating considering I had to waste 2 Aesthetics and they were pretty hard to kill at NG+ level while I was only a level 90.

Anyway, eventhough I'm still not in love with the PvP or the netcode for PvP, having fun testing new builds and strats out. I've played a few people who are naked and man, those rolls are so far with no armor on. The hatemail is strong too, not many people are as in love with the Ironclad Armor as I am... it seems. One guy even called me a hacker, seemed more like a complement to me.

Gower's ring is also really good for all the same reasons + you take zero damage from any attack to your backside. It does break kinda easily though and does weight 10 units

as far as phantom hits go i don't really have a problem with them. Most of the time you get hit by them you are in a vulnerable position to begin with (ie you wiffed something or miss timed a roll). You just have to have the mindset that no matter how far away they are or how short of range you think their weapon has, if you make a mistake you could be getting hit

Also most phantom hits are clips so you are only taking a fraction of the full damage anyway. They aren't that bad

Powerstance Caestus's are so much fun. They stunlock you for days. Then once people start spacing, switch to Mastadon Halberd and they die in two hits.

Damn this thread is dead. Where's everyone at?

Anyway, @R.E.O. just wanted to tag you to show you this thread. If you need help with anything just post it in here.

i was wondering the same thing. Too lazy to dig through and find the thread when noone was posting in it anyway

after doing basically nothing but pvp for the past month, i've come to the conclusion that PvPing past SM 12 million is pointless. Unless you've been leveling up consistently that is and not staying at the 150 community cap. 90% of all fights with my main character are people fast rolling in full havels with GMB, Resonant weapon and 3000 HP.

with all the speed run strats, you can basically make any build you want in only a couple of hours and be at the BoB arena (just another hour or two and it can be on NG+). Best thing about the arena is you dont acquire souls from the fights, so you will always be near the same level as your opponent and At SL 135 or 150 there is much more variety in people's builds. A good amount of people still run GMB and Resonant weapon, but at least they dont take 10 or more hits to kill

SL no longer matters in PvP, it goes by SM. So there's not much reason to level cap anymore unless they fix that.

im aware. Community level capping is for balance, like it always has been

getting to the arena as early as possible keeps the SM range very low so you will actually fight people around your level, and since the arenas dont reward you with souls it stays that way
